Avantgardey

I first saw them in a reel on YouTube where they were doing by a collaboration with an American girl - I then discovered that they had tried out for America’s Got Talent and been pretty successful in their first audition.
Of course I had to Google them and find out more -it seems they’ve been active since 2022 and were created by choreographer Akane, who was responsible for the “Bubbly Dance” which was a viral sensation several years back.
They’d also got to the finals of Japan’s Got Talent in 2022 (but didn’t win sadly) as well as competing in a few other dance competitions.
Eventually I followed their journey through AGT to the finals again… where they sadly didn’t win. 🙁
But they’re pretty prolific on social media and were actively interacting with their fans until about April 2024 when their management company took over their accounts.
Since the beginning of 2024 they seem to be getting more any more promotional appliances in Japan, quite a few sponsorships and have been chosen to help advertise everything from Googles phones to Horse Racing Events!
They have an active fan club now and a merchandise shop too, which also delivers overseas- which is handy as they seem to be gaining fans worldwide thanks to their online activities!
Currently they’ve been doing live dance shows in Japan and are touring the wider East Asia area with various promotional performances!
So…anyone else a fan of these awesome girls and their dancing??

I followed the group's instagram account for a time and they are very original and i really like the choreos they do. The dance style reminds me a lot the Atarashii Gakko's.

Avantgardey is amazing

Sometimes I worry that they will have a headache after some of those dance moves though ![]()
It's fun to find out what they look like without their usual getup on ![]()
I wonder how long they will survive, do they have longevity or are they just a fad?

I guess they’re all very young though, so probably not a problem yet! The bobbed wig must be pinned on very securely!!
I’m enjoying some of the behind the scenes videos they’ve been doing recently, which are all available on their YouTube channel (or channels now as each member is getting their own after group leader Nona recently got her silver YouTube play button!!)
As for longevity…it’s hard to say. I did wonder about this myself last year.
I think as they’ve had a pretty swift climb up in fame (they were formed in 2022) there’s always the worry that they might only be active for five or six years before interest wanes. America’s Got Talent certainly gave them a boost both domestically and internationally.
I do think that they have the potential to last a good decade though - eventually they’re going to get older and maybe want to go off and do other things (or start families) - the big question will be if Akane (choreographer) treats them in a manner similar to Idol groups and recruits new members to replace old ones. They have already lost 3 - they started with 20 and are now at 17.
I think if they get below 10 then one of the big charms of Avantgardey will be lost; their big highly synchronised routines.
I’m still hoping to support them though- they seem fun and want to expand to doing shows all over the world, currently their tours are mostly in East Asia, though they did do a show in Milan for fashion week in 2024.

I'll try to check out the behind-the-scenes videos, thanks ![]()
Fuuka is over 40... Wow!
I saw those graduation videos but was a bit confused. I thought Kotone was graduating but then she continues on(?) ![]()
Concerts are usually good for bringing in revenue. And I think they are the perfect group for many advertisement tie-ins.
With their mysterious nature it shouldn't be too difficult to replace members as they leave.

Thanks for clarifying ![]()
Somehow those profile pics are very unflattering. I guess they were instructed not to smile so that has a big effect.
