Ok, now that Maa have finish her studies and have a music college degree, can UFA let her please write a song, play a keyboard, program a beat, kick some drums or whatever the hell she wanna do in Maa's next release?

A friend went to her shop talking event today and to the MLine concert

When asked "Which country would you like to visit?", Masaki immediately replied "Germany!", and then immediately replied "No! The country with the black, red and yellow flag!". Then, the audience said "That's Germany!", to which Masaki shouted "Yes! Germany!"
The reason she wanted to go to Germany was because "Haribo chocolate flavor is cheap there." When an audience member asked her how much the plane ticket cost, she replied, "Oh!"

Masaki recently knocked over three potted plants at home.
Since she couldn’t handle the mess herself, she immediately called Kaede.
Kaede came to Masaki’s house and, despite complaining, cleaned up the mess for her.

One of the pots was broken and couldn’t stand on its own, so Masaki drove while Kaede sat in the passenger seat, holding the plant.

The plant’s leaves covered part of Kaede’s face, making half of it invisible. She sat there with a slightly annoyed, expressionless look the entire time.
Masaki found this amusing and burst into laughter.

Come to think of it, yesterday Masaki was delighted when Karin got the lyrics wrong in the first song, and cheered her on, but then when she sang Kachou Fugetsu later she made a mistake herself, and was disappointed.

During the recording of a new song, Masaki hadn’t memorized the song at all. Not wanting to be the only one unprepared, she instructed Leon to say, “I didn’t memorize it either.”

Kaede got upset and said, “Rio-chan, why didn’t you memorize it!?”

They get along well and seem to be in regular contact with each other. Masaki said that she called Kaede because she couldn't remember the dance.

Rio then explained the situation.

Kaede reprimanded Masaki, saying, “Masaki-san, this is a waste of time! Please stop it!”

Masaki talked about her memories of past recordings yesterday.

I'm listening to a recording of a show today, cool new songs

During the opening show, she announced that she was planning to release her debut album. No release information was given at the time, though she noted it would probably be this year, or next year if she was selfish.

 

today Masaki said, "I thought Ayumi's voice would suit the rap part of the new song better than mine, so I asked her to do it."

Sato Masaki's first album will be released on October 22nd!

 

It includes 19 songs in total, including singles released since her solo debut, cover songs she's performed at live shows, and newly written songs!

I just listened to Alright, one of the songs supposedly composed by Maa and now i can say that it makes no sense that they continue using and spending money on composers worse than her.

It's been ages since I've been here but I love all the music related talk from Maa lately so I'll drop off some summaries.

 

輪 (Rin)

She wrote the original version when she was about 16 and got scolded by Nishiguchi. It was 30 seconds long. She revised it and submitted as part of her university application (Tokyo College of Music for those who don't know), likely the version she played at her birthday event the same year. She did delete that version like she said before. For the album she recreated it based on data saved from either someone with TNX or Okubo.

Alright

The base was "I'm alright" from the 10th gen event she did with Ayumi just before her grad. She rewrote the chord progression for the verse and the melody for the chorus. She kept the lyrics as is. (Essentially, the song structure is the same if you listen to the instrumental I'm alright from MM's twitter.) Piano and chorus was done by her teacher from university and her voice trainer from her MM days respectively. The song was recorded with everyone playing together in the same session instead of separately.

Small Voice

It was written to bring to mind her memories of the snow in Hokkaido and of her family. She expanded on the family part at one of her release events. Her dad had a cancer scare last year (it turned out to be fine) and she was thinking about what she should do as the eldest daughter of the family. (Her answer at the time was to go to Hakone and buy a black onsen egg said to bring longevity. She did not tell anyone she was going to do this so her mom nearly called the emergency services on her.) Her dad later told her that even on the day one of her parents pass away, if she has a concert scheduled then he wants her to perform that concert. "Small voice" means the voice of someone that was no longer there but stays in her mind.

On songwriting

She writes music to express feelings she couldn't put into words. The lyrics are written to match the music. Her music is like her diary.

On the production of the album

She was heavily involved in trackdown (I think Japanese terminology for mixing) and mastering. In fact the reason the album release took so long was because she would just spend hours at it. The agency had to talk her down from remastering her previously released songs or the album would not have come out until next year. She worked with a pro from the agency adjusting the balance of the different tracks (vocal, drums, piano, etc.) and loved it.

 

(In short we have Maa to thank for the album sounding amazing.)

On 優樻

I can't remember where I read this now so I'm assuming a fan report from somewhere, but Maa said 優樻 was the name she used when she was small. The rest is fan speculation based on this ameblo post. Essentially 樻 is not allowed to be registered as a personal name because it's too obscure, so they guessed that her parents actually wanted to name her 優樻 but had to substitute 優樹, but they still use the original kanji privately. 樻 is also pronounced ki btw and means a specific kind of tree while 樹 means trees in general.

 

Bonus round: Maa reported she has so far typed herself as ENFP, INFJ, ENFJ, ENTP, INTP, ESTJ, and ESFP. She would just get different answers every time she does the quiz. She said that her MBTI is almost complete (as in completing a set).

 

(Abandon hope, people who want to know Maa's MBTI type. The person herself has given up on figuring it out. My personal guess is ENFP based on the law of averages from everything she has typed herself as.)

At the release event in Kobe she told a recent story:

She went to the hotel's large public bath, put her laundry in the washing machine in the changing room, put her clothes in, turned it on, took a bath, and when she entered the sauna, she realized she hadn't brought her change of clothes or a bath towel. She called the male manager for help, but he asked her, "How am I supposed to get in!?" She then had him bring her change of clothes to the entrance, then popped out of the changing room for just a moment, and picked up her change and bath towel. She popped out again for just a moment to get 200 yen to use the dryer, but her coins rolled out and she got in trouble. While she was on the phone with the manager, a young sister who was there laughed at her.





2nd event;

Had 9 talks with her at the last release events and she replied "love you!" 3times Love you too!


I also wanted to show her a translation on my smartphone, staff didn't like it but Masaki wanted to see it, she replied "Ganbarimasu!"
It was very nice to see her from front row

On the Limista Masaki told everyone, "If you marry Masaki, it'll be a lot of trouble for your life ,so don't do it!"
Everyone thought it came from a guy, but it was a woman she said she wanted to ask her again (at the Nagoya event) so she and the other girls asked her but she said "no thank you!" It was funny
