Just received my JapanFiles version of SYO and I'm pretty disappointed.
First of all, the CD came in a letter size soft mailing bag with bubble wrap lining. That wasn't enough to stop the CD jewel case from getting a crack. Secondly, I compared it with my Japan version of the CD, and the JapanFiles one looks so cheap compared to it. JapanFiles version on the left, Original Japanese version on the right. Both still in original wrapping. ![]() Notice the crack across Aika's face. ![]() Something look missing? JapanFiles version doesn't come with an Obi. No stickers on the wrapping either. JapanFiles' version looks so cheap....almost like a second hand CD. The clear wrapping is different too. Shrink wrap for JapanFiles, and normal tear-away wrapping for the Japanese version. Nice try JapanFiles, but I won't be buying another copy from you. Rather pay a few more dolloars for a real Japanese version. EDIT: Just opened the JapanFiles one. Printing on the CD is not clear and straight. The booklet/cover is printed on some cheap paper. There's a blue ink dot on the lyrics page. Conclusion, this CD feels on par with a pirated CD from China.
Reason for edit: More info

^thank you for the side by side comparsion. I wasn't going to buy from Japanfiles (I'd rather pay a few more dollars to get the orginal japanese copy from CDJapan) but I was courious to see them side by side.
It really does look cheap compared to the one from CDjapan and I'd be very upset with a cracked case -------------------- |

I would be pissed off if my cd case was crack or if the cd has marks on the back of the cd then won't play.

I still dont understand why the OBI is that be of a deal. I mean I save the OBI's on my CD's for reasons unknown. but i dont understand why they are important overall.
either way, yes it does look cheap. I was gonna buy Platinum 9 from them, now I'm not so sure |

Eew...that is so dissapointing...
Just seeing from turbos's pics I don't have to think twice to choose which one. And the JapanFiles cover's colour is like an old CD compared to the other. And yeah, I would be really pissed too if there's a crack on my CDs Thank God I haven't order anything from there. Thx turbos86 for sharing... -------------------- |

Sorry I sounded so negative in the post above. I was just too disappointed. JapanFiles is fine as a company. I'm probably just having bad luck this time.
I still dont understand why the OBI is that be of a deal. I mean I save the OBI's on my CD's for reasons unknown. but i dont understand why they are important overall. Obi usually have nice little details to enhance the look of the CD cover. For this particular single, all the text are printed on the obi. This is the reason why JapanFiles' version looks cheap and odd, because without the obi, the cover doesn't look like a cover at all. And the JapanFiles cover's colour is like an old CD compared to the other. The colors of the two covers are actually the same, it was just poor lighting in my room when I took the picture that made it look like they differ. However, paper quality between the two covers are different. -------------------- |

I'll still rather buy from YesAsia.
Obi is such a nice little detail, I love it. And it's true, it doesn't look like a CD without the Obi. Just some sort of bad-faking. Hmm, if there's no Obi on the ones you get from JapanFiles, what do they do with the Obi? |

We got this in at work today:
japanfilesmm.jpg ( 184.47K )
Number of downloads: 142I opened my copy of the single and I didn't have any of the printing problems that turbos had. Perhaps you got a copy that got messed up at the printers? If you contact them I am sure they would replace it. Mine was clear and there was no blue ink on the insert at all. It looks similar to the Japanese release but I only have LE A & B so I can't tell exact differences. As for no obi, I think it's just because in the US we don't have obis on our cds. We carried the Tofu Records cds and Geneon anime soundtracks when they were out and those didn't come with obis either. And the shrinkwrap is probably because it was printed at another location and all places use different styles of wrap. It's so thin too so they may not have had to same kind as Japan. The Platinum 9 release is wrapped different with the folded top and bottom, just no pull tab to unwrap where the single was the pinch style around the edges. For those interested the card in Platinum 9 was nicely printed too. I got the LE so I can't compare to what was released over there, but it's clear and on good cardstock. -------------------- |

And while the the single wasn't like the normal japanese version (more like the taiwan or korea vers.) with issues I brought up eariler, The Platinum 9 cd is like the normal japan version, or at least the one I got. |

^its nice to hear about the japanfiles copies but again to me, I'd much rather spend a few more dollars and get the original japanese verison. I see tha Japanfiles verison up there with the Korean/Taiwain versions and I only buy those if the LE or 1st press is out of print w/the japanese version of whatever japanese CD i'm buying but from what I've seen even those are a small leg up from the Japanfiles verison in quality (plus those still come w/obis which is a big deal for me)
But thats just my opion. I'll be waiting for my copy for awhile since I grouped it with a CD that isnt coming out till July 1st from CDJapan. But I dont really mind the wait -------------------- |

@turbos86
We're very sorry for the cracked case. Please send an e-mail to store @ japanfiles.com and we'll immediately send a new one to you at no charge. (*This also goes for anyone else who received a damaged copy.) As for printing differences, there's nothing we can do about the obi / stickers. That's a standard difference in manufacturing/distribution between the Japanese & USA markets. (Same reason we have to have a bar code on USA editions.) We try to match paper stock as best we can, but sometimes it's not possible. Again, that's due to printing industry norms in both countries. That's also the main reason why we imported all the member cards for PLATINUM 9 DISC instead of printing them here in the USA. We knew we couldn't match the paper/print style in the USA so we wanted to make sure those were authentic. @puffypancake We're glad your copies came through with no problems. That should really be the norm outside of a few misprints from the printing company. We want to make our partnership with UFA and UFA fans a long-term success, so we appreciate constructive criticism and we'll do our best to keep improving. -------------------- |

^ Thank you JapanFiles for the details. I admit I was being too harsh on my initial statement upon receiving my copy, I apologize for that.
Your efforts to satisfy fans and customers is appreciated. -------------------- |
