Just got back from the Hangry & Angry Q&A and the Closing Ceremonies of the Sakura-con 2009. I made some notes: They allowed pictures only for a few seconds, when H&A came into the room and I literally did not have time to get my camera out before the organizers stopped the picture taking. So I'll describe them. I was about 20 feet from them during the Q&A and about 50 during the closing ceremonies. [That "daigong" from JPH!P who was mentioned earlier in this thread was kneeling directly in front of me with his JPH!P friends. I didn't talk to him, but he seemed a nice enough guy, not a perv.]
Both of Yossie and Rika were dressed and made up in the same kind of hAngry & Angry "Lite" they've been in all weekend. It was even a bit closer to "normal" than H&A compared to yesterday. Except for heavy makeup around the eyes, they were both close to what you might see them as "Yossie" and "Rika", instead of hAngry and Angry.
Rika was again in a cross between goth and lolicon with a definite emphasis on lolicon. She was wearing a wig again, but it was straight hair today instead of curly. There was a white and blue feathery puff thing in her hair. She was wearing a black jacket with blue highlights. Underneath was a goth/lolicon dress and leggings. Big dark shoes.
Yossie was wearing her hair up. Today the hair was not dropped over to the side in feathery spikes like yesterday. Instead, it went straight back, almost a "rooster" style. She was wearing mostly black clothes. A black T-shirt with a red design on it that I could not make out. Black pants with lots of intentional frayed cuts. Big black clodhopper work shoes. During the Q&A, she wore a pink, hooded, sweat shirt over this, unzipped and with the hood off. When she sat down, most of the black was hidden, so the result was that she looked pink and blond and a lot more like Yossie than like hAngry.
Here's a summary of the Q&A. There were about 300 people there. I didn't hear every question/answer clearly, so some things are left out and I might have got some things wrong. hAngry and Angry spoke only in Japanese, except for a couple of phrases here and there. The questions were mostly in English and translated for them. And their answers were translated.
The moderator introduced herself as "Diaz" and said she was the USA representative of H!P and H&A. She was a middle-aged woman who looked Filipino to me. She was fluent in English and Japanese. There is a big Filipino community in Seattle. The questions were all from the audience.
Q: What past groups that you have been in have been your favorites? (Not sure if I heard this question right.)
Yossie: [Didn't hear what she said, but I don't think she included "Morning Musume".]
Rika: Morning Musume
Q:What is the difference between Japanese audiences and the American audience you had last night?
Yossie: Americans in the audience each did his/her own thing. They did not all do the same dance as Japanese audiences do. They were much more individual.
Rika: There were a lot more females in the audience here. [This got a big cheer.]
[Side note: About half the audience at the Q&A were female and most were Westerners ethnically. They were also mostly under 25 years old, much younger on the average than the Japanese audiences I see in the H!P concert DVDs.]
Q: Are you ever coming back to America?
Yossie: Of course. [This got a big cheer.]
Q: When are you coming to Florida?
Rika: "Of course" [I don't think she understood the question quite right and she decided to go with an answer that got cheers.]
Q: Would you have preferred your first USA concert to be in a different city or are you happy with Seattle?
Y & R: We're happy that it is Seattle and that it is at Sakura-con.
Q: Angry, In an old [???] episode, you had a bunny embroidered on the back of your blouse. Can I embroder the same thing on my blouse?
Rika: "Yes" [in English]
Q: Was the band at your concert a regular band you appear with or a temporary band?
Yossie: Temporary. This concert only.
Q: Is performing difficult?
Yossie: Performing is not hard. We've been doing it so long now, it comes naturally.
Q: What was your favorite moment during last night's concert?
Yossie: When the audience echoed back to us during the "Kiss me, kill me" refrain: "Kiss me" [audience: "kiss me"], "Kill me" [audience: "kill me"].
Rika: "Me too" [She said this in English, meaning her answer is the same as Yossie's. This got a big laugh.]
Q: Are you jealous, Angry, of all the attention that Yossie is getting for her birthday? [Not sure if I heard this question right.]
Rika: "No, no, no, I'm Angry!" [She said this in English and it got a big laugh. ]
Q: Have you done anything in Seattle while you've been here?
Yossie: I was shopping in the convention center yesterday and I saw sushi in a roll. That really surprised me.
Q: Would you like a cartoon to be based on hAngry & Angry like the one based on Puffy Ayumi?
Y & R: "Yes" [in English]
Q: [something about practicing ... couldn't make it out]
Yossie: I practice it about once a week.
Rika: [couldn't make out what she said]
Q: What does the future hold for H&A?
Y & R: We will have an album coming out in the fall.
Q: Have you eaten out in Seattle?
Yossie: We went to the Waterfront Grill. [She then listed all the food they had and said it was great. This was the longest answer either of them gave to any question. Those UFW women sure love to talk about food. XD ]
Q: Have you seen the Space Needle?
Y & R: Not yet.
Q: What do you do before concert?
Rika: I write [some Japanese character, couldn't make what she said] on my hand 3 times, then I hug hAngry.
Yossie: I just hope that the audience enjoys the show.
Q: [didn't hear the question]
Rika: I was so active during the concert, I think I hurt myself. I woke up with neck pain.
Q: What is the best kind of compliment that you can get?
Rika: Seeing the audience smile.
Yossie: "Me too!" [in English] [another big laugh]
Q: What is your reaction to non-Japanese speakers who are fans? [Didn't quite hear this one exactly.]
Yossie: It was exciting that people who don't speak Japanese even know about our music.
Q: How did you feel, Yossie, when the audience and Rika sang "Happy Birthday" to you at the concert?
Yossie: I was totally surprised. [This answer puzzled me. I read somewhere online yesterday that H&A could be heard rehearsing yesterday afternoon and that Happy Birthday was played in the rehearsal.]
After the Q&A, they left the room for a few minutes while a line formed for getting autographs. Then they came back for the autographs. Yossie looked tired when she came back. Only time I've ever seen her look that way.
H&A also made an appearence at the Closing Ceremonies. They were dressed the same, but Yossie had taken off the pink sweat shirt so she was almost all black, more hAngry-looking. Before they were brought out, the head honcho of the convention read out the names of all the "guests" and H&A got the biggest applause, even more than girugamesh; which surprised me. When they came out they thanked Sakura-con and Yossie finished by saying "Arigato, Seattle".
One last thing: Yossie's eyes were twice as big today as they were Friday. They can be seen from space!
