The hype might be to show what can be achieved without an actual person... i.e. that people go for the image, the idea, rather than an actual person.
It might be the start of a trend, where next they'll release a photo-identikit with all the facial parts of the REAL girls, and you get to actually create the next member for CGI48. :)
And in response to this Morning Musume will revolutionize itself and make a "musume" who will be a individual girl who is a composition of its current members.
This was clearly established as fake something like well over a week ago, but to explain its purpose:
It's an AKB48/Glico campaign. It promotes both Glico's products and AKB48's products. It has generated a ton of hype and interest, so it's clearly working. :)
