^ you said the two idols in this picture were straight. i'm thinking otherwise. (after literally years of body language study) but talking about it further may start a word fight amongst everyone here, so i'm not saying anything else.

^ Ooh, do I smell a bit of controversy in the air??
So are you thinking one or both? ;)
Or maybe they just attend "How to flirt with the others to wind up the Wotas 101"?

Bring on the "word fight"!!! :D

 Jan 15 2011 02:23 PM
I don't realyl think they're anything other than straight.
I have straight girls in my class who even give kisses on the mouth just because they're best friends.
A kiss really has nothing to mean especially when its only on the cheek ^^''

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 15 2011 07:32 PM
^ a kiss is a kiss. i know that, and i'm not just talking about that. there's alot more to it than a kiss. it's not an "overactive imagination" thing either. if they're straight, cool, but i honestly don't think they are (they may not be 100% lesbian either) it's hard to pinpoint sometimes. they'e not so blatantly obvious like rika and yossy.

 tvheadd
 Jan 15 2011 08:53 PM
you want to talk blatanly obvious? eri and sayu have all but admitted that they're romantically involved; they've been together so long now, one cannot be without the other. look, the thing about it (sayu and ai-chan) is, this has alot to do with sayu's personallity and little to do with ai-chan herself (though i have my unconfirmed suspicions about her and gaki-san). so sayu is the type that needs constant validation for what she does "sayu, you did good!", "sayu, you are sooo cute!" this doesn't have to be a negative thing, its just how she is. let's also concider that sayu is just as much a fan of idols as we are; one of her top favorites happens to be her friend ai-chan. so i ask, if you were a wota who gets to be on stage with the idols you adore and you have an opportunity to hug or plant-one-on-the-cheek of your favorite idol, would you take it? sure as shit you guys would! i would too. but ai-chan's reaction is like "lol, you crazy girl, cut that out, silly!" as she pulls away, she's not reciprocating sayu's "wota love" and sayu being sayu, can't stand that. so with a "you will love me" sort of under-tone she just keeps doing it, you could say its like an unrequited love. if anything, ai-chan is sayu's little sumthin'-sumthin' on the side. anyway, thats just one crazy persons opinion ^__^ V

 Jan 15 2011 08:56 PM
I'd say a lot of H!P girls would be straight if it weren't for the no-boyfriend rule, but play around with one another because they have no other options. Yossy and Rika, though, seem to have a serious relationship.

 theonlyfiona
 Jan 15 2011 09:01 PM
^ I agree with that comment.

I'm not talking about the standard straight guy fantasy that us girls hook up in the locker room all the time, but when you're only allowed to mingle with other girls sometimes stuff just happens :D

 Oikaze
 Jan 15 2011 09:05 PM

tvheadd: oh, i totally get what you're saying. but i'm not JUST talking about this picture. it's hard to explain, but i guess i'm not the only one who sees it. they don't exactly talk about marriage, or kids. (although, i've read a few things here and there about it) but i think it's a go-to answer when asked about their future. it's safe and won't cause a huge stink amongst the fans.

oikaze: exactly. i mean, do you ever notice when a guy approaches them, they sorta step back? or even act fearful? it doesn't happen all the time, but i've noticed it before in the past.

 Jan 15 2011 09:29 PM
^ Ah, but GEL, I can imagine that the "fear of guys" thing is to be expected when you've been brought up in such a guarded environment, when most guys are just as likely to be fanboys as "normal". Consider it a survival instinct rather than a sign of dislike. And in such a closed environment their relationship skills are possibly going to be underdeveloped compared to a non-idol their age.

Plus Sayu is a huuuuuge fan of Takitty, and you can see that in the way she just seems to be so pleased around Ai-chan. She probably just has a girl-crush on Lovely. Which to be honest is probably the norm among girls, isn't it, when faced with such overwhelming Loveliness? ;)

Anyhoo - what a great topic of conversation :D

sexual tension/fustration can be a helluva drug, lol.
its like, you're young, in your prime, full of hormones
and somebody tells you "no fooling around with boys!"
and you're like "say whaaat?!?"
what the heck are you supposed to do?
you do the only sane thing you can do....

Statistically speaking, the likelihood of that many actual lesbians gathered in one place under one metaphorical 'umbrella' is somewhat unlikely. I mean, it actually came up in Hello! Morning-I forget the number, but it was the courtroom episode, where various members were 'tried' for funny offenses, and Yossie/Ogawa came up, and some girls (Kaori in particular) Seemed genuinely repulsed. But on the other hand, some people's closeness is a little strong for simply situational lesbianism. Sayu and Eri freely admit their relationship is extremely suspicious.

I'd say it's probably a little of both. I don't think any of the girls are actively fearful of men (With respect to Lady Glasseyelashes) After all, they need to interact with male entertainers on TV quite a bit. I think the fear they display is just the natural reaction of being extremely tiny girls confronted with social situations they're not used to (Involving people a lot bigger than them)

Where was I? Oh yes-I was about to postulate most of the girls would, if there were a reliable test for such a thing, register as bisexual. Which, of course, is the best of all worlds.

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 15 2011 09:35 PM
eeyore: i'd considered that to be a possibility. so, i guess you're right. still, boys can be pretty scary sometimes. :P

"the only sane thing you can do...."

and what is that? :P

E: bean-kun: i'd thought that if nothing else, bisexuality, or even asexuality as a possibility. it very well could be true. then again, these are all merely speculation. i'm just glad i'm not the only one "speculating" ^^

Lol long discussion. I'd just like to point out Gaki's reaction when Junjun confessed to Captain was "Junjun, that's gross" with a real grossed-out look on her face. Ai thought it was hilarious though. (http://www.youtube.c...hzol8MA#t=3m40s)
Eri also says to Kumai "you're not supposed to say that's cute" in the bijo gaku episode where Junjun has hearts in her eyes for Saki (Ep 15). Junjun's confession though, and actions around Captain in their episodes together (15-20 I think) look very real to me, (blushing, her reasons for why she liked Saki, acting cuter than normal, etc) and she was well known for trying to steal kisses from the others.

I don't think they're lesbians they probably just do that stuff for fun.Sometimes me and friends do...homo things sometimes like tapping each other's asses or make some slightly homosexual comments to each other yet none of us are gay.Some people refer to it as "bromance" xD

 Bean-kun
 Jan 15 2011 10:03 PM
@Glasseyelashes

Oh, absolutely. I don't know why it's so compelling, but I can't stop myself. >_>;
I'm not usually prone to talking about celebrities, especially their sexuality, but it's compulsive with them.

Probably vicariously imagining myself with my favorite idols using another idol as a proxy (If I'm right about them being wary of strange, big guys, a six foot tall white guy is probably at the top of the list of their fears of getting too close to ;_;) Although I'm not sure what using another idol as my avatar says about me. >.>;

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 15 2011 10:05 PM
^
^ i guess my definition of "bromance" is different than yours.

bean-kun: it's funny that way. i really couldn't care less about other famous people, but with h!p, i don't know, i'm exposed to them every day, several hours a day, and i feel, in a sense, closer to them than say, angelina jolie. naw mean?

 Bean-kun
 Jan 15 2011 10:16 PM
@Glasseyelashes

I totally do, too. It's really bizarre. I'm vaguely aware of actors...basically in terms of Actors I like in movies I like (Just Saw Green Hornet-woo!) And Actresses I think are hot.

But then you get to H!P, and gets weird-there's girls I think are hot, girls I think would be awesome to hang around with (bros) and girls I just wanna have as a little sis. (Fukumura is a strong new candidate for that last one)

They make me regret not being able to join H!P and hang out with them in person. They seem like a lot of fun.

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 15 2011 10:32 PM
^ true, true. i never imagined myself joining h!p, but if i did, i wonder how it'd be like for me? what sort of character would i be given? i'd like to think i'd a mix between aichan, and eri, personality-wise.

mannnnn, i'm going way off topic! i'm just going to go back to looking at this almost-kiss-on-the-lips picture. ><

i think Ai barely dodged it though xD

she ussualy gets it in the mouth anyway (as wrong as that sounds lol)

 Jan 17 2011 07:56 PM
Man if they had an audition in Thailand or Cali... I'd try!
Just so that I could get a chance to plant one on Ai's cheek under the cover of getting excited during the song like Sayu~

and I'll just throw this out there, girls who are close play around with each other reguardless of sexuality. We show off our panties in the lockerroom, scoop/grope each others boobies and butt. I'm straight, but my best and I kiss each other on the cheek alla time. HAHA We always joke that one day, one of us is gonna miss and we'll accidentally get the lips. (coughlikeAiSayucough) XD

 Jan 17 2011 10:01 PM
oh my gosh! LOL!!!! lawrence!! XD and yes, you'd be the first to get an autograph. you're my favorite guy! <3

^ that's true. but as much as i love and admire aichan, i could never bring myself to kiss her, even on the cheek. *is much too shy ^^; *

Statistics, guys!

About 10% of the population is gay/les, so among the 60 girls or so that are or have been in HP, 6 might be truly gay (and I say 'might', as we're talking just probability here).

The others are just having fun with each other, because there's no guy around. Take Aibon and Nono, good friends who loved to kiss each other on the lips. Turn out they were both straight.

For all the talk of the TakaGaki couple, seems sometime that Risa is actually a bit homophobic. Sayu strikes me more as needing a hug than really needing a girl. Reina loves men unambiguously. Yossi swears she's not gay (and perhaps, she's not lying - who are we to know!)

So, if you want to imagine things, go ahead, no one's stopping you. But, hey, at least admit it's your imagination.

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 20 2011 06:32 AM
^ statistics have been known to be wrong, but whatever. i know what i see, and i have a lifetime of experience to back it up. and besides, the "gay" talk was over and done some days ago, so why bring it back up?

 Bean-kun
 Jan 20 2011 10:43 AM
@kyokao
"There are three types of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics."
There's no reliable way to accurately track homosexuality through statistics. The requirements needed to do so would be so wide ranging as to be completely unwieldy and essentially useless.

There's any possible explanation for the instances you've cited-bisexuality, fear of the implications for their career, etc. Don't accuse people of overactive imaginations when you have just as little proof of their straightness, and it might be YOUR imagination that they're into men.

But as Lady GEL says, this question has been laid to rest. No need to debate ad nauseum.

 Eeyore
 Jan 20 2011 11:32 AM
88% of statistics are made up on the spot. ;)

As for the evidence of people saying they're not... there's always the saying "I think the Lady doth protest too much!" - which basically means they're damned if they don't and damned if they do! :D

Ultimately - does it matter to any of us - unless you think it somehow moves you up in their pecking order... from infinitely low to not quite so infinitely low? :)
Just wish the girls happiness with whoever they choose to be with, platonic or otherwise.

 Jan 20 2011 10:22 PM
@kyokao:
I've had friends who were severely homophobic BECAUSE they were gay. It was their way of hiding it or being in denial about it.

So if you count that those things also happen then Risa might be all 'kimochi warui' to cover things up :3

 aishiteruxyui
 Jan 21 2011 08:41 AM
^I second that thought :) because I know some people that are like that too XD
besides we all know that Risa likes to hide a lot of things 'cuz she thinks they might jeopardize her career. :P

Anyways~ I loveee this picture!

This huge-ass discussion can only mean that "someone" is reading too much into the girls' actions... and me who thought this was just a matter of jokes, and not serious theories... just one question, though.... in all honesty, why do y'all seem to want them to be lesbians so hard?.... besides certain female users here who don't need to answer this, ofc

Anyway, this is definitely the second cutest H!P kiss pic ever

 BerryzBuddy
 Jan 21 2011 01:47 PM
^ to answer you question I read somehting about this kind of situation about a year ago and it wasn't just posted by any random person the woman who posted it is a lesbian. The article said that Its mostly to do with sexual fantasies. I read that its common knowlege that most men seem to think that two or more women kissing each other is in some way plesurable for the man but in the womans case whether they are lesbian or not this can make them very uncomfortable so its less likely that they will admitt their sexuality publicly.

But to be perfectly honest I don't know why everyone is being so serious about this. Girls like to kiss each other the majority of the time so tis nothing unusual for them but when people start to abuse this it can be very awkward. Can we all please just leave the converstion as it is.

On another note this picture is so cute <3 They both look really happy and beautiful. All these recent H!P outfits are really nice and I haven't really liked some of the ones I've seen for the past few concerts. You know what I've alway wondered? Whate do all these idols think of the outfits they wear? I know their talk about them in the making of's and things like that but do they really like them?

Sweet, sweet girl bonding warms my heart, especially if it's a little ecchi.

 Glasseyelashes
 Jan 21 2011 08:51 PM
berryzbuddy: i often wonder the same thing. i mean, some of the outfits i've seen over the years are just downright ridiculous. i'm sure there's been a time or two that they've just been like "what am i wearing?!" i'm glad though, that they don't seem to be wearing the multiple costumes anymore. like having to wear 2 or 3 at a time. that had to have been so hot and so uncomfortable.

and i mentioned this before, but IF indeed some of the girls were gay, they couldn't come out and say it because of their contracts. ( this just so happened to ricky martin. he was unable to come out publicly because of his contract) they obviously have an image to uphold. but i guess it doesn't cover joking about it, or the occasional kiss.
