@burnt glitter: if you couldn't see Koha improvement than thats your shortsight... don't impose it on others who do see Koha's improvement and appriciate her energy and gengki-ness.

and alot of the nay-sayers.. you guys sound like a broken record.. its the same comment all over again. If you've got nothing different to say just stay away from the comment section.
---
I like the the song and Koha's singing... I like the bright yellow color of summer in the PV and Koha looks like a flower fairy singing in a forest about pancakes ^_^
Lots of pancakes and Koha legs to go around XD XD

@zam: But this is not just for saying we loved the song and the PV. We can make an oppinion as well as you Koha-fans do! >.< I didn't like it and I don't like Koharu's voice (I don't like Koharu at all!). I think I liked her more when she was new haha xD Anyway... no offense, but her singing is awful (of course you can like her if you want, I'm not saying you can't).

She's not singing badly. She's on key, which is a lot more than we can say for a lot of idols, actually. ^^; The song itself sounds quite difficult, and the style demands a lot of power behind her voice. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I can not say that I like this at all. She sings through her nose in this song, which is always a no-no.
I have never been a fan of Koharu though, so maybe I am biased.
Mitsui declared herself Koharu's cute idoll. In my mind, Mittsi has already won.

@zam: But isn't it the same if you flip it? People can continually put Koharu down and will sound like a broken record. But people can also say how much they love it, and that will also get old, in my opinion.

@zam: I'm not imposing anything, an opinion is an opinion, I don't think my post was nearly offensive enough to be called "imposing", hence my concern... It was my intent to be civil. Sorry you took so much offense from the opinion that Koharu isn't improving, which I think is held by more people in comparison to people who think she is a continuously improving singer whose career will really go big places someday.

Also, I think that there are definitely more similarities than differences when you compare "Papancake" to "Koi Kana" (costumes, dance moves, vocal ability, musical patterns), so I think my opinion that Koharu hasn't improved very much to be very justified and to say she's grown leaps and bounds is a tad idealistic in my opinion.

The BIG thing to remember is that, with these songs, Koha is singing as "Tsukishima Kirari" who is a girl who isn't supposed to be a great singer, just one who can move her fans with her spirit and love of music and such. Koha *is* that idol when she sings these songs. This may not be the best vocals ever, but it does have Koharu giving it her all. She never turns off her smile, and that's why I like her as an idol.

I like Balalaika more, the PV was cute and she looks really beautiful. I think "I miss you"n, and a few other songs from her first album where good. If you listen to some slower songs of, her singing sounds better there, I think its hard to make super genki upbeat songs sound great. This pv kind of reminds me at Matsuura' s old upbeat songs like "yay mecha holiday" if you listen to her ballads her voice sound bettern in ballads than in upbeat songs.
And a lot of people are jealous that she gets a solo career and they'r favorites dont, and nomatter what kind of song she makes some people will still instantly hate it since i's Koharu.

^ if her solo career is so great then please kick her off S.S Momusu because she's the captain that's sinking the poor ship.
And I agree with Goyange Lilliya Sorang, so a majority of the comments are saying that she sucks, a majority of comments on other PVs will say that it's so good but in different words.
Just for the record though, I really do like Koharu... just not her singing, since even as "Kusumi Koharu" she sounds like a cat drowning. Plus what's with all this 'so other idols can't sing' thing? A bunch of the girls in H!P CAN sing, and so can the other girls in the industry.

Very annyoing. I really liked Koharu at first, but lately she's been getting on my nerves. As mentioned above, she is totally tone-deaf still and probably always will be since she is now also a seiyuu. I liked Bararaika, Happy and Chance, but Anata Boshi or whatever it's called along with this PV are IMHO bad. She also kills me in the new Momusu PV when she is dancing in the background. She sways back and forth left and righ so fast and hard that it seems like she just can't stand not being in the front and simply MUST be seen. What happened to cool units and things for Junjun&Linlin?

*sigh* all these bad comments about koharu.......plz just let the ppl dat appreciate her music and actually likes how she sings and how positively happy she is be left alone and keep ur bad comments to urself.......im getting tired of hearing the same thing over and over.....she cant sing, shes tone-deaf, shes so annoying.....

if u have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all......its cool u guys have ur own opinion about them and I respect dat......but I bet some of u guys just say those things just to piss us off.......

I agree hollowkevin, Koharu is the only H!P member who gets hated on on a regular basis here, there are plenty of other H!P members who are worse singers than her and they never get negative comments. Some people just dont know how to form their own opinions so they follow the crowd and post all this spam crap about her..srsly ppl if you cant say anything nice then dont say it. why troll the comment section of a song you dont like? its obviously to piss others off

and btw I love this video and song

Well, if any Koharu fans need any encouragement, here's one from eye2:

http://www.hello-online.org/index.php?s=&showtopic...

"The greatest moment in music history was the first time Koharu and Sayumi did their Pinku act in the Spring of 2006. Most of the fans I know personally in Japan want more cute Pinku duets with Koharu and Sayumi."

Lol, i wonder if she was made to sing it like this. It's really cute!! PV looks very yummy too~ Mmm.. pancakes~ Yellow and Purple are cool!!

Hm.. isn't this song made for the anime which is for kids? I think it'd be really catchy for them. U can't expect her to sing really maturely for an anime like this, and she's great, she's always smiles. Be surprised if in 20 years her voice is still like that, then you can complain. Her charisma is getting her somewhere, some members are like on hiatus or just going on events while she's like released a single and this one is coming out too this year. Improvements aren't supposed to be judged on this because after all this is 'Tsukishima Kirari starring Kusumi Koharu' not just Kusumi Koharu. The essence of the anime still has to be in her songs whatever she does. I think her real solo career starts off when she isn't dragged by an anime.

(at)Kitsuioko:

Complaining about Koharu's singing is kind of like complaining about Hikaru Utada's inability to dance.

Very true, but, clearly not the point of what they're selling.

I've tried, actively at some points, to dislike Koharu but she's so happy to be doing what she's doing that it makes me feel happy for her that she's so happy. Call me crazy, but, that's the spoon we're being fed, IMHO.

------

Seriously, like Kusumi Koharu is supposed to be a SINGERR. So her voice has to be good. Who cares about Utada Hikaru`s dancing. Shes also a SINGER and her voice is wonderful.

God, if they just gave her a new style maybe it wouldn't be so horrible... that and maybe if someone else sang it. Honestly I've been holding out hope that she would improve. But she has sounded the same from the beginning and she sounds horrible. Once in a blue moon she sounds decent, but that isn't enough, especially if they don't even try to work on bringing that out. She doesn't deserve her solo career. And I don't care about her sales, those are strictly because she is the voice actor for a kids anime and they buy it cuz they are fans of the show. If she didn't have that and tried her hand at a solo career with all those songs that sound exactly the same then she wouldn't sell nearly as well. This is just getting ridiculous. And Im really not trying to stir up fights here but this is my opinion and it may be harsh but that is just what it is, the same as those who love her as much as they do.

Arche-JoIyO: Expressing an opinon is one thing. Saying: "That was awful. Horrible. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! " is just being mean. This id a FAN-forum u know
U don't have to be a fan, u don't have to like it. Just show Koha-fans some respect, and Koharu non the least!

Found it very amusing. Never really been a to big a Koha-fan, compered to other H!P but I still like what she does ^^ and this was a nice song

Love the outfit, like Koharu, hate that someone decided she sounds best singing in a nasally whiney sound. She didn't sound like this on koi kana or balalaika.

I don't know who decides this stuff, but they need to undecide it.

Oh so THAT'S what that smell was! Jealousy! I get it now :) Just keep waiting for your favorite girl to actually get more spotlight than her, oh wait, I mean...IF it happens. *shrugs* Koharu is great enough to have her own solo career, end of story really.

Hey, haters can hate what they want, it won't stop us Koharu fans who love and support her at all. The song AND PV are pure greatness <3

If you only have bad things to say, don't say it at all.
Or at least put it nicely.

Thought I do like Chance more than this song. :)

This is the first one of her songs I haven't bothered to listen to all the way through. Compared to her others, it's pretty boring. Her other songs have at least been fun and catchy (if you can get over her voice), but this one is very forgettable, IMO.

I can usually get over non-existent talent if there's something else to like about a girl, but Koharu is just...horrible in all ways to me. Koharu actually seems to be getting steadily worse, both in singing ability, and her forced cute/hyper personality, which is becoming harder and harder to deal with as time goes on. She's really the only member in all of H!P that I can't stand.

As has been said: An idol is not necessarily meant to primarily be a singer. If it were all about musicianship, I actually think Canaria Club and THE Possible would be outselling H!P right now. Canaria Club has a balanced sound and THE Possible even has (gasp!) instruments around. Neither group has Tsunku mixed in in the background.

There's more to being an idol than that. Showmanship and personality are absolutely key. You can say what you want to about Sayumi's voice, but she absolutely carried that Resonant Blue TV spot earlier this year that everyone was talking about. Koharu gets into character for the role of Kirari quite well and really hits it off with the kids, apparently. And both Koha and Sayumi are capable of singing on key, which, as I said earlier is better than some idols.

To support my claim... I risk drawing a bit of ire at this, but those who don't know what I mean may want to YouTube up a couple of Idoling!!! perfs. Typically only about 3/5 of the soloists sing on tune. (Moonlight Densetsu, thank goodness, is an exception, but Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku is not.) See also Soran Happies.

Speaking of Happies, this sounds a lot like Happy, but as I said earlier, it's a tougher song.

she has improved....... but her voice is still too whiney cause it seems to come straight out her nose. lol A little less tone deaf, but still tone deaf.........she has improved..... a little.....

the PV was good though. It was cute and energetic like she is and it made me want
pancakes to eat for breakfast today. ^-^

If being an Idol was about strictly about singing and dancing then Ai would have had a solo career by now. She's a great actress, a wonderful singer and dancer.

Sadly, it's not. It's also about appeal to the audience and how much people are and are interested in you. Ai-chan has fans but she sucks at interviews and doesn't demand the camera during talk sections enough to try and win over people. She didn't make herself "go over" despite many, MANY attempts to make her go over like girls in the past.

None of us can really deny that Takahashi is the most over all skilled probably in the Musume right now, but, here's this Koharu chick who's rocking her in air time and importance. Why? Koharu fights for the camera. She steps up and says something stupid or gets her face in and is energetic about the camera being on her. And that's something that they can sell.

Ps: OF COURSE she sings with a nasal voice for her character. If she doesn't sound like Kirarin when she sings then what's the point? It'd be like someone using Makoto's voice for the words and then switching and getting Sayumi to sing. "Is.. er.. is that the same character or.. did something happen?" Unless it's a plot point in the show that her voice is different when she sings.. YEAH she has to use that tone.

I will admit I enjoy watching Koharu, she's very charismatic and fun to watch however this is the worse I've heard her sing. Generally I find her solo stuff quite catchy and fun, even though I know her voice isn't good at all, but it works with what she's given. However I think that this song doesn't suits her voice and that's why it sounds worse then usual. However the Pv is still fun to watch :)

It's not that I'm jealous or I want my favorite musume to be in the spotlight (lol kago is already? i guess?). I'm actually a really big fan of her, she's probably in my top three favorite musumes. It's that Koharu is a ONE. TRICK. PONY.

I'm not saying that's Koha's fault either. I would just like to see some different music styles because the same song over and over is getting a little annoying...

Oh my... haha what a thing.

Like they say; My two cents.

Kusumi has improved in this 3 years of course, as ANY girl can improve, she is not the big deal yet.

In the other hand burnt glitter its so right in one thing; Kusumi's good sales of this singles are, in geart part, because her Seiyuu activities, thats why this PV singles are like they are.

Now... about "broken records"; comments lke: "God... what a waste of time... another bad song from Koharu". Sound equally like: "Oh God!!! What a colorfull-little-cutie!!! Kawaii!!! Go Koharu" ... ... ... Same broken records, different tone hahaha.

Its just another single from Kaharu, matchs very well with the anime style they want to show. If you like the anime maybe you like this singles, so its recomended, if not, well... ther is the MM Koharu for the rest of the fans.

Hmm.....I don't like to see all of these negative comments. About ANY of the girls in H!P.
Koharu is an easy target because she has been very successful but lacks a strong singing talent. I for one, am happy for her success and wish her more. The money she brings in FUNDS many of H!P's other PVS and activities. Besides, this is for kids. I'm sure that in a different key she could sing better. Anyone could! I'm not saying that her poor performances are all based on the songs she's given, but it does have something to do with it. And....isn't the character she voices a "bad singer"? Koharu can't suddendly change her image since she's still in the anime. What she sings, how she sings, what she wears, the personality she portrays, and the image of her PVs is decided for her. And I am sure that she is grateful for the opportunities that she has been given. So, WHY do some of you Hello Project fans "hate" her so much. Especially when HER success benifits ALL of H!P?
Koharu always seemed like a caring and positive person and I have read that many members in H!P think so too. Can we stop with the "Koha-hate" and support ALL of the girls in Hello Project like the good fans we are supposed to be?

@ twoheart: I can understand that you're a Koharu fan but it's extremely simple-minded to claim that all people who don't like Koharu are simply "jealous". I'd rethink that statement. My favorites are already in the spotlight and I STILL don't like Koharu. Does that make me jealous, or honest? Or anyone else jealous who happens to be expressing their opinions on the contrary of yours?

For some people saying "keep it to yourself if it isn't nice", aren't you really just saying "if you don't like Koharu, shut up please"? Everyone has the right to their opinion, even if you don't agree with it, as long as it's not pure flaming with absolutely no basis whatsoever I don't think people should complain, since this is a pretty civil and kind forum with caring users who don't do things like that. I think we're utilizing the comments for the purpose for which they're intended: to COMMENT. They're comments, not facts, just because everyone isn't saying how great she is doesn't mean we're being cruel, which would be completely unnecessary, baseless and the types of comments that should really be kept to ourselves and would merit some scolding from other members.

There's a huge difference between having a reason for our dislike rather than spewing blind hatred, if you have problems with reading criticism about Koharu than maybe you shouldn't be reading the comments for her new song expecting all sunshine and happiness since she is a criticism-magnet time and time again on this forum.

twoheart@: Jelousy? Maybe. But that's not all. Her voice is horrible and has more attention than anyone in H!P (sniff... Yasuda Kei). It's really sad. We have great and beautiful singers here and the first thing you do is putting Koharu with horrible singles and the others pass to be just a shadow.

I don't mind if Koharu's a famous bitch or not. It's sad that the preference between the members are too obvious that ir hurts.
