Congrats Cyclism for making the most retarded comment so far. Without the success of Berryz, C-ute would not even exist. I would say Berryz has more than earned a spot on the show while C-ute is fortunate to get invited so early in their careers. I look forward to seeing all of the H!P performances.

Grow up! My comment was based on objective SALES figures. An invitation to Kouhaku is based on an individual or group's sales. Thus the reason why Aya Matsuura and other H!P luminaries were not invited this year because their sales were notably off. I wasn't slagging Berryz in any way, I like them very much and I am happy that they will be there, but based on objective facts, that C-ute's sales were much higher than Berryz, then C-ute deserved to be there but not Berryz. Chill out, and don't take things personally.

Actually Berryz new single has higher first week sales than C-ute's latest thus far - going through this year the difference between them is only a couple of thousand, which is pretty negligible. They're on a fairly level field so you'd have to be pretty picky to say one deserved to be there and one didn't.
But yes, Kouhaku selection is based more on general music scene prominence rather then actual sales.

This is great! I'm very excited for berryz and cute! They really deserve to be there (I can't say the same for AKB, but w/e).
What I don't like is that "10th year tribute", it's been done to death this year, MM had 4 singles, and we may not even see any of those (probably an old song medley...). I really hope it's not the case, and hopefully this will be the last year that these golden era momosu stigma is present.
Old momosu was great, but they had their prime, not it's a new momosu (shin momosu), so just let em be....

@Cyclism: Theres a hole in your logic.. If invitations are based on sales how would you explain the absence of YUI?
@VMWalls: By looking at the photoshoot that came with the article, I assume most of the AKB girls are there... thats alot of girls.. how would they fit on stage? Will they be performing saperately as Team A, K and B. We've got to wait and see ^_^

Lots of shoujos in this year's Kouhaku, the group pic of the first timers was pretty much dominated by the AKB47, ne? I think I can now clearly see how H!P talent and AKB47 talents differ from each other... really interesting this Kouhaku has become

Hmm, never heard of this Kouhaku show, but it is turning out to be something interesting.
I must remember to check it out.
From the comments I read, it must be a great honor to be invited to this show/event.
I am only a casual fan of cute and berryz, but congratz to them nonetheless.

i noticed IMMEDIATELY when they gave flowert to Berryz's captain (saki) and then i was like "yeah, now Maimi" and it was like uh, no, how about erika instead? No! i think erika is super-cool, but it needed to be Maimi. she was probably hanging out w/nacchi practicing for their new single together. yea!!
