Can anyone confirm that they will be staying with UFA, or is that just a guess at this point?

i think this is because of the GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS, just like the NBA reducing US staff due to their economy. (",)

As a newer fan, I missed a lot of the H!P history that many others here got to watch. I got started on H!P with mostly Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, and Viyuden so I was not attached to most of the Elders Club like many here (apart from the Viyuden members).

Though I was not as attached to these girls as many others are, this still comes a terrible shock. I am quite upset to be seeing these big names go, especially because they've always been there since the beginning. This is a major change and that alone is going to rock the fandom and upset many (with good reason).

At the same time I understand this is probably for the best for most of them. I always thought H!P is not a great place to have a career but a great place to start a career. I questioned why many of the girls even stayed there as long as they did as they would be guaranteed work after leaving (Yuko and Aya especially).

I loved Ishikawa a lot though and I am going miss her...I hope she still sings and gets a new label (or stays on at UFA). I also hope to see Matsuura Aya again too (though I have little doubt she'll give up singing) because I think she's an amazing singer and has a real talent for performing and putting on a show (see "I Know" at the 2008 concert for proof of that).

The thing with H!P is it gets you attached to the girls as people. You know them by name, face, and voice. They've spent so much of their life in front of the camera that you feel you know them personally. Now they leave the public eye it is almost as though they died because we lose our only form of contact with them.

This year's concert is gonna be one we all must watch...and will probably cry through. I don't mind them leaving H!P...I just hope to see them again.

I also want to know what the plans are for the left over H!P members...Takahashi is going to be around much longer and I like her as much as I liked Rika...maybe they'll start a new Elder's Club with the graduating members? Maybe they'll just fire them from now on? The lack of information here and the uncertainty of seeing our favourite idols have here is probably the worst part of this whole scenario right now.

This is terrible...I can't even believe they'd get rid of Ayaya. The others I'm not entirely surprised about, but Ayaya at least I thought was making a good deal of records and such. The other girls were really great soloists and did Makoto come back for barely a year just for Tsunku to retire them all? :\ I find it hard to believe and I'm extremely saddened. I love most of these girls and...I don't want to see them go. At all. If that's their choice, that's one thing, but it just sounds like they're dumping all of them...

Somehow, I picture Aibon laughing her ass off right about now.

On the bright side..............this would make certain reunions easier to pull off........W, GAM, Biyuuden.

The Gatas will continue as a futsol team/music group, I presume. And the eternal Melon Kinenbi aren't going anywhere........nor do I see Ayaya hanging up her career.

That they're staying with UFA is an assumption and a poor one at that given that this move is most likely financially motivated. Half of them -the famous ones- might be given new contracts with UFA but the rest are surely s.o.l. Of the famous or ex-famous group, a few may receive more lucrative offers -ie. any other offer- and be off on their way as well.

OK so they are no longer Elder, no longer H!P and no longer slaves to the idol image.

Eh, not entirely too bad as long as they can transition better. I would have to assume that they talked to them individually and decided to just give it up. Hopefully this means bigger and better and more use for them individually.

I do wonder what Ai chan and Risa are thinking. I mean they have go to be in slight fear of their graduations if it happens in the next year or so. Once they graduated they'd either have to go solo or bye bye with nothing to hold them up.

Geeeez, this must be why they're putting out so many BEST OF albums this winter. I just looked at dokidokilovesite, and it looks like a lot of Elders members/groups and even T&C and old subgroups have MEGA BEST albums being released in December. What a way to try to bring in some extra cash. Does this mean that after the girls graduate, they won't sell their stuff in the H!P stores?

Potassium Caronate: You may be right that there will be a little pruning of the roster. Obviously Mari and Yossie are making UFA money from TV, Yuko is currently a stage actress.......but what's your take on Melon Kinenbi? Will UFA keep them, do you think?

rayned_kei: I wouldn't worry too much about Ai-chan............she could be a solo singer easily and now she's filming a TV show. She probably stands to have the best chance of a career post-MoMusu. Do you realize that SHE is now the senpai of the entire H!P organization now?

It's perfectly understandable. It's an industry where your career peak at age 15. When they have like 20 girls over 20 yo that barely do anything and don't really sell any CDs, what's the point in having them? They just cost them money.
It's called Hello "Project". It's a project to get them into the industry and teach them the basics. Still being in H!P after you have turned 20 is like having to redo Jr High over and over again. They won't learn anything and won't have any freedom or influence over their own lives. Being in H!P just cripples them!

Being fired/freed is the best thing that could happen!

Its the worst news and yet the most peaceful to me. Been a H!P fan since Gocchin debuts. Counting till now its 10 years of H!P for me. It expected that Elders will be leaving H!P one day as their image now did not suit H!P cutesy image. These seniors have grown up! Its time for them to take a step forward to whatthey really wana do. H!P have too much restrictions! Now I at least see news abt them going out with guys n get married maybe!
The only shock to me is that H!P decide to cut all the seniors at a go. This means I will never ever have the chance to see Tsuji-chan back in action on H!P stage! This is the only sad part.....
I'm sure that these gals will keep on giving us their very best even they are not in H!P anyone. We as fans should keep on lending our support to them no matter which agency they are going to join!
I am not able to see Tsuji-chan back in action so I will try to save up to see Kamei chan live on stage!
As what I will always say " Once H!P member . Forever H!P member. No matter where these gals will go to, they will forever be H!P member in my heart. I will keep on support, cheer, clap, laugh, cry with them ! Thats H!P spirit!"

move on to better things.

hah.

if even the best member MM ever had (goto maki) can only accomplish nothing more than a piece of contract with avex but nothing to prove along with it after leaving H!P, i really wonder what the other girls can do. truth is, even if the EC members are wayyyyy more talented than the WH members, they are still a far cry from the industry standard.

It is true that they are better not being dragged down by the idol image.

At the same time, it's really going to be pot luck whether they actually move on to bigger, better things. To do that, they will need to leave the UFA entirely and do a Gomaki.

wow this was like a knife in the back. When ever I see Elder Club preform on stage, they brighten my mood in the seasonal concerts singing old and new singles. They always brighten people's day! If the Elder club goes I think more teens in japan who came to hear H!P's finest members from the past and some people around the world will start to turn their heads. UFA is probably at the brink of being broke bringing Tsunku down with them.....

I really didn't think this would happen so soon. I really hope this is just some cruel lie...

I'm really surprised that everyone is so upset......First of all..80% of these guys werent even doing anything ANYWAY. And we're probably going to see them later on doing solo stuff which I'm really excited for. I was really glad for Maki when she was signed to Avex.

I can understand why people would miss the concerts and groups and stuff but besides that..I don't think it's too bad. I just hope that people will continue their music careers elsewhere..if the case was that they didn't then that would really suck.

I don't think it's too bad of a choice..and now they can focus on the younger groups.

All I can say is: "Oh well"
I really thought these people will have a lot more in the future
And to think that Konno and Ogawa just came back, not to mention Hangry and Angry's recent debut
Guess we'll see lots of new faces in the coming months

 2008-10-20 10:58
"Hangry and Angry" aren't part of H!P, though. They're under a different UFA label.

So while some acts might move out of UFA, or go to the wall entirely, there is scope for others to continue within UFA under non-"idol" labels, and shake themselves free of the idol-image that might otherwise hinder them.

H!P fans,

We should not be worried on what was happening. Did you forgot about the new H!P eggs, and those new H!P newbies from Taiwan? Those girls will be as good as the elder club. And for those little dreamers from outside Japan can make their dream come true because we know that Tsunku always held many auditions.

Let's not be worried about these things. The newcomers will be as great as the elder club!

Even though the elder club hadnt been too active in recent times, I think it's really sad that H!P would throw away 10 years like a peice of trash...but in a way, what were they doing in H!P...I shall explain:

Yuko Nakazawa: Musicals, and plays...she did have some solo concerts and stuff.

Abe Natsumi: Hasnt released anything since the duet with Maimi. Focused more on her photobooks.

Iida Kaori: Too busy being a mother (which is good).

Mari Yaguchi: TV shows, tv shows, and more tv shows

Yasuda Kei: backup vocalist, I believe

Rika Ishikawa: The most active of the elders, she was always in a unit of some sort. H!P will totally lack without her.

Hitomi Yoshizawa: Ongaku Gatas captain.

Tsuji: The only H!P thing she did was surprise Nakazawa on her birthday concert, haha! She's a busy mother, just as Kaori is.

Konno Asami: Ongaku Gatas...she's graduating from H!P again...gosh

Makoto Ogawa: It didnt do her any good to come back, just to end up graduating:( She wasnt given anything to do!

Inabo Atsuko: Backup vocalist (a heck of a singer though, lol)

Maeda Yuki: releases singles tooo slowly.

Ayaka (she's graduated already, but I have to point this out): H!P hast let her do much since ROMANS. They didnt give her a d_mn thing to do!

Satoda Mai (Country Musume): She's an active member, just not active much in H!P...she's got too much going on outside of H!P, but at least she was in Ongaku Gatas...

Erika Miyoshi and Okada Yui - gravure model, actress...they're together everywhere they go. I kind of figured it was over for them after v-u-den disbanded.

Melon Kinenbi: Will they still be a group after H!P graduates them? I figured something fishy was going on when I heard bout their Mega Best album being released.

Aya Matsuura - Her music no longer fit the H!P image, but I love her new songs...H!P needs a bit of serious-ness, lol!

Mikitty: Okitegami. Musicals. period.

Overall, they were pretty much not as active as they once were. But to let them all go...is too extreme. These young girls in Wonderful Hearts need direction! They need elders to look up to! But so much for that, UFA can't leave good enough alone! The elder club is the main reason I'm an H!P fan...I will still keep up with H!P...but god...H!P, you've really done it this time.

First reaction: You're ###### kidding me.

After reading through the comments, though, I have to agree that separating themselves from H!P is probably the best thing at this point for a lot of these girls. They'll be a lot less restricted (both personally and professionally) by ditching the idol label, so hopefully some careers will actually take off now.

But I'll definitely miss the crazy gigantic H!P concerts D:

Yeah, my H!P fandom already started waning a long time ago, but this pretty much kills it completely. I'll still keep up with Yossie, Yaguchi & co but otherwise, there's really nothing attaching me to Momusu anymore. The legacy left over from the Golden Era and the hope that they'd manage to work their way up there again was really the only thing keeping me interested in the current group.

Hopefully this means bigger things for all of them, because EC got H!P to where it is today, and they certainly deserve better.

That's just the worst idea for H!P...
throwing most of your famous icon in the music industry like Ayaya....
yea eventhough you have emerging icons like C-ute,Milky way but will they succeed?
Then when the OG members are 'graduated' do they have a secure future???
At least H!P should find an agency for them like avex did with Gomaki before 'graduating ' them........

Even though what UFA is doing is heartless considering that most of the girls being let go won't be able to stand on their own, I can't say that I don't understand the move either, and can't blame UFA for trying to improve the organization in their own way with this bold move. While I do feel sympathy for some of the girls like OG MM members, I'm confident that they'll be able to survive in the industry on their own and reinvent themselves like never before and truly represent who they really are.

Ok, this is my good bye as Hello Project fan n_n.

Now, like most has said, this has to happen some day, if this can make you feel better this could be one of the most (if not the most) epic graduation concert in the history of HP. So... enjoy it when it comes.

Most of this girls probaply has bigger plans for themselfs (they follow Goto Maki's Move good for them!!), so its time.

After going through most of the comments, as much as I love Marippe leaving UFA and H!P is the best thing for their careers....

The world economy is crashing, and so is the Japanese economy. Record sales are no longer as strong as they used to be. MM, BC and C-ute are *the* only idol groups in H!P, and the ones bringing in money. Your average wota isn't interested in over16-year-old girls (or girls who look over 16). So UFA dropps all the ones that are no longer bring in money to improve their profit. Simple economics decision really. What I suspect we'll see is some of the Eggs being turned into new units, specially the younger Eggs. Fresh, younger blood who will prolly make wotas happy and contribute for more questionable content photobooks/photo cards to be sold. MM, if they want to market them to the general Japanese audience, they need to dropp the cutesy costumes and idol-ish acts - your average japanese teen isn't interested in that. MM didn't started as an idol group, it'd be nice to see them going back to being a Jpop act... of course they'd need to get new girls on it who were more singers than idols. And I highly doubt that'll be happening.

The girls from the Elder Club will be more thn likely much better off free of UFA and the pretense Idol image they had been carrying for some years now. Hopefully some will move on to other labels and get better deals, and having their labels actually invest in promoting them. I particularly have high hopes for Maeda Yuki, Abe Natsumi, Fujimoto Miki and Matsuura Aya - the 4 ones with best vocals who can probably create successfull solo careeers with the right label. I'm also curious about Melon Kinebi, they actually have vocal potential - perhaps with different songs and a different visual they can be reborn?

Some, like Mari Yaguchi or Nakazawa Yuuko have already solid careers in other places that I'm sure will only blossom more from now on. the girls from V-U-Den if they try can probably make solid careers in modeling or advertising. And others will just fade into family life or non-music industry solid careers.

i'm speechless...other than the fact that I WILL get this final concert.

I am sorta glad that this is happening though, cuz they can move on to better things than H!P. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the American fans wont get to see them at all. I don't look for ANY of them to continue with singing careers. The "H!P Trashcan"members will fade away to never be seen again *like Sheki-Doll* and the more popular ones will stick with random musicals/plays/variety shows that a casual fan has little chance of seeing.

All I can say now, is that i really hope Tsunku invests in vocal lessons for the leftover girls. The Elder Club members got into H!P by talent. I don't think I'll be able to tolerate the bad vocalists anymore now. Before, I had the Elder Club releases/concerts to compensate.

Gahh, we'll see how this turns out....i hope it crashes and burns.

This is the darkest day in the history of the planet Earth and the human race as a whole. I feel sick. If UFA just wants to save money, I'd much rather they get rid of Musume, Berryz and C-ute than the Elders. These are the girls that bought all the big wigs at UFA their houses and big shiny cars. They owe these girls more than a swift kick and a "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out". I'm loyal to the girls. UFA can go screw themselves. Rat bastards!
