although... "She's got a really easy-to-understand personality, doesn't she? I'm sure that she's very pleased with how this album turned out! Because that's the only time she'll send me something "
to me that sound a bit like it could be "she's so predictable/easy-to-read, right? she must be really pleased with how this album turned out and wanted to rub it in my face"
but yeah, i doubt that-- but if she was, i can see how that entry digs at her a little >w<;;

lol lets just hope not- haha

Nice to know Goto Maki still (well somewhat) keeps in touch with someone from UF.

The only thing that may be a dig is the "I'm sure that she's very pleased with how this album turned out! Because that's the only time she'll send me something (lol)", like meania said. Otherwise I don't see it.

well if she only sent it to just her it would be digging in, but if she sent one to everyone it wouldn't be......well not so much anyways, lol >.<

not much to dig out from her .... >.>

^ ^ lol it could be
like "look everyone- i'm so amazing i got a new album and you havent!!" kind of thing
but at the same time it could just be her telling some of her fellow idol friends "look, i'm really pleased with this album- celebrate with me" like a friendly thing, rather than a challenging thing
haha, i don't know... >w<;;

The nuance of the original post is difficult to relay, but I think meania's first post has the right idea.

She's not being mean, just more like a feeling of rivalry. Or something.

I'm glad they keep in touch. It sounds like one of those friendships where you know you can call out of the blue and not need to stay in constant touch. I can see where it may come off as a dig, but it has been friendly since around the Gomattou days, right? Makes them work harder when they can compete as peers.

Friends will have things "beneath the surface". Not everything is said all the time. People always have opinions that will constantly be changing and sometimes is better left unsaid.

But I think Ayaya was just being honest with what she said. Like, Maki was proud of what she did, so she sent it(.). And even if there was a chance of jealousy, at least Aya is supporting her by listening to it and telling others to hear it too!

despite that part you hint at the post sounds warm and fuzzy to me :D . good to know they call each other sometimes at weird times. makes me believe more of the friendship i saw in hello pro hour those years ago... :)

when i read the words "feelings bubbling beneath the surface" i thought it meant that there was a one-sided attraction between the two. aya being the one attracted to maki. but now that i read the post, i must've been out of my mind. XD

but yeah, i can sense a tiny bit of tension, but i don't think there are any hard feelings on aya's part, just a bit of "wow, we don't talk for weeks and she sends me this?" kinda of vibe.

This is a translation, there may be some things lost in this translation.
I thought they weren't friendly. I was always under the impression that Nochiura Natsumi didn't get along at all.

I also think it's just friendly competition. It is true they didn't get very well along at first, but they had to work together a lot and they became friends. I've heard them talk about this more than once, right now I only remember HPH #12, which I recently watched.

Matsuura has that personality quirk, like Abe Natsumi, where she makes digs to keep herself in a position of relative respectability. I don't think that it has any antipathy in it. It's just a way of reminding the audience that she's #1. She does it to everybody, but just a little.

I didn't see anything in there that could be considered a dig at all. Just said Goto was proud of her album and Aya agreed.

Didn't Matsuura said at "Music Fighter" in one of their last appearances that Goto and her couldn't see each other (as well as Nacchi)?

Thanks for the translation!

I think Aya admires Maki-chan now-a-days

It's probably some stupid contractual thing. Sounds like she was censoring herself more than "hidden feelings".

 Mattthecat
 2009-09-16 22:43
fer5 is correct. Aya talked about the unspoken tension between the Nochiura Natsumi members until one day she talked to them, saying "listen, we don't really like each other, so why pretend". And after the air had been cleared they got along well on a professional level. Hey, you throw three divas together and that's what you get :-)
With a bit of distance (and less tension) relationships change however, and though they will surely never become close buddies there is a mutual respect for the other's professionality.
So Aya's just honest, nothing else. Quite refreshing to read when you think of the usual "I just ate this" or "I just shampooed my hair with that" blogs :-)

Yes, in the groups they didn't really appear to get along BUT Aya did say they worked it out when she appeared on Music Fighter (its subbed on the tracker).

They are friends more so leaning towards being acquitances but at the end of the day, from all the subbed videos I've ever seen, Goto Maki is probably one of the nicest people to come out of Hello Project. She seems to genuinely care about her sempai and kouhai.

I am not surprised to see that she sends flowers and even attends Matsuura's concerts. I'm positive that the original 'hatred' (harsh word, probably tension would be better) is due to the fact that Matsuura had always been a solo artist and Goto had moved from MM to solo. It was like infringing on territory and then being forced to work together often when they probably never met much.

Actually there was this talk show, I forgot the name, but its UF talk show then they sing live on that room together. Maki and Aya got one show together and they revealed that at the beginning they didnt like each other, but things changed after Def. Diva, and Rika was the reason of how they 3 ( Abe, Maki, Aya) could perform in one unit. And they did say they finally got along and started to talk to each other a lot during that time ( starting with an email/sms ). That's when they become friends.

I read nothing into it, except that she was happy that she received the cd from Goto. Also, I didn't read anything of jealousy or rivalry in her comment about how Maki sent the CD to her because it was good. I think that came out of the fact that before hand Aya said that Maki is a hard worker. I don't think it was a jab. To be honest, if I was a performer and I had an acquaintance like Aya, I just wouldn't give her anything that I've released. I would give her the one thing that I was proud of.

Mm, they used to dislike each other..But they sound like amazing friends now. "If something happens, she'll tell me about it."

Ha, maybe Def Diva did effect them. (: Yayy for Rika. <3

For real, I don't see any bad feelings in Aya's entry. No jealousy, no rivalry.
In fact this kind of entry is one of the reason why Aya's blog is my favorite, she doesn't post that often but when she does it, you know she will write something interesting. All I see in the entry is Aya saying that Maki would always send her good stuff (if Maki doesn't like something, she wouldn't send it to Aya). Aya is just been honest about the fact that she admires Maki but can't say it to her face lol which I find very cute XD the proud rebel kouhai don't want to lose against her senpai XD

"I'm sure that she's very pleased with how this album turned out! Because that's the only time she'll send me something (lol)" I think Aya's saying that Maki likes to rub it in or show off. But aren't females always competing? Especially old friends/former co-workers.

 Topracer01
 2009-09-17 01:26
hmmm i don't see any bad feelings that aya is expressing. i'm sure its hard to keep in touch because they're so busy most of the time. although i do find it weird that aya refers to maki as "that person" and then mention the songs like the readers wouldn't be able to figure out who she was talking about lol

 michikodesu
 2009-09-17 01:38
@fanny111: nope, not all females.....that's just a myth that hollywood/tv shows/music likes to through out at people. If you are a good friend, then you're usually happy about something that your friend has done. And some friends will only show you something that they're very proud of and that they've worked their hardest on. That doesn't mean you're showing off or rubbing your work in someone's face.

And besides, if it really was a rivalry or jealousy there, I don't think that Aya would promote Maki's CD and tell everyone to buy it at the end of her blog. I think people just really want something to happen so they'll find anything.

@topracer01: "that person" in japanese is "kono hito" and is used more often and not in a mean tone like it would be used in english.

Hmmm... don't see what's the big fuss about this blog entry.

One thing though, this English translation made it sound a bit harsher than it is.
To begin with, Aya's writing (and the way she expresses herself) is more straight forward than a lot of other celebrity. Check out Tsuji or Yaguchi's blog writing if you need a comparison.

@topracer01: As Kaitou said, the English translation made the post sound harsher. アイツ (aitsu) was the Japanese word Aya used, and it doesn't have any harsh implication, as it's used when you talk about a he/she, or a bb guy/gurl friend (hence... coloquial talk).

I don't see the big deal about the post, as far as I recall Aya has always been pretty straight foward. I'd personally translate the "aitsu" part as "that gal" XD

"She's actually a really hard worker, and very disciplined. But she never really shows that side, even a little bit. But that's what's so great about her, and what I like. But it would be embarrassing, so I'll never, ever say that to her face (lol)"

Uh... She does know that blogs can be seen by others right? ^+^ at times like this, I wish the comment box had a quote function...

but.. psh.. yeah, i also don't see the fuss other than the seemingly cold (not lame, lol) things at the translation/

didn't gottsan send flowers during the elder club graduation? and also when yaguchi was on waratte iitomo.. i'm sure she keeps in distant contact with everyone..
with that said though, we'll never really know if it is friendly celebration, friendly rivalry, or rubbing it in..
either way, it's all good.. rivalry or support will drive them both to bigger and better things.

Aya is a free spirit. Tsunku hasn't composed her songs since 2006. She gets all control over her career. And she can't be jealous of Maki because Aya's first post about "Hey everyone, I'll stop concerts but don't worry because I will make lots of songs!". So I think Aya's post is truly from her heart. If she wanted to be a bitch, she should have simply not posted anything. Or let Miki speak for her. LOL.

Can't really see the "having a dig" type comment in it. If Aya was steamingly jealous, surely she wouldn't give Maki's album any exposure at all ~ obviously theres always some form of jealously, or to put it better, competitive element, between two women of similar age in the same industry. If there wasn't, music would be boring :(

"She sent me something for the first time in a while! She's got a really easy-to-understand personality, doesn't she? I'm sure that she's very pleased with how this album turned out! Because that's the only time she'll send me something (lol)"

I think it's not like "Nanana, I've got a great record deal and you don't", but more like "OMG, what if my work isn't impressive enough for Senpai?"

I think Maki only wanted to sent Aya stuff, when she was absolutely sure it was her best work, and she felt 100% secure about it. She does want to impress her mentor, not be an ungrateful bitch, and rub stuff in her face.

Uh... I really can't see anything here. >_> Seriously, I've seen things with more unpleasant possibility in any of the other girls' blogs, and usually it's just because it's oddly worded through translation.

Nice to see they keep in touch. ^w^

doubt anything is dug under the rug here, ayaya is rather upfront, and honestly it sounds more like ayaya is pleased goto maki is happy than otherwise, especially considering ayaya drew the plug on her own carrer her self.

It sounds more honest than dug atleast to me, but i dont really put much into reading between the lines cause in most cases we are way off when we do.
