How does this league work? Are the other teams from other jpop outfits or what?

Yeah, I don't understand — what happened to the Sphere League? Four teams don't seem like much...

Some of the other teams probably had to suspend activities, if not completely shut down, for this season. At any rate it's good that they're getting new members, even if it is just Little Gatas. To be honest I'm a little concerned and hope that the new players (especially the smaller ones like Captain and Momo) can handle playing in S.L., especially when so many of the other players are taller and/or older than they are.

If they are quite small, they need to make up for their lack of size with two things primarily, that of speed and superior technique. But even then, physique is quite an important factor.

Just take famous examples such as Juninho Paulista, Denilson and Robinho-- all lacking in the "massive strength" department, but had(have) immensely superior technique. Often when they got tackled they would fly as a result.

Not being too up to date on Little Gatas, does anybody here know what positions the girls usually had, and who were the really good players in terms of technique, speed, strategy etc. and who ...well, weren't?

A decent number of the Kids getting rolled in are as -tall- as the older members they're joining. Specifically Sudou, Umeda, & Yajima are full height. It's an open question whether they're as physically strong as the other members. As for the other TEAMS... well... that'll be a different, interesting, question.
The only thing I can say about the kids for skills, is that Yajima is athletic, but from watching the Little Gatas, didn't actually know the game. But then again, training with the real coach on a regular basis, I'm sure that ALL OF THEM will pick up skills quickly. Not that I expect wins from them soon... Korenaga can only care so many players at the same time ><

So that means Mai is playing in two separate leagues then? Sounds tiring if she is.

Yep. That's exactly what I was thinking. Mai has a busy schedule ahead of her.
Interesting development. Guess with the departure of so many key players it was necessary to make a clean break.
But what happened to those applications/auditions for new players a while back?
No new unknown names really (which I certainly welcome)
And yeah, what happened to Sphere League? This almost raises more questions than gives answers. Lol

Yeah, I want to know what happened with the auditions as well. :(

Good luck Gatas!

Yes, good luck Gatas!

However, aren't those fresh girls too young and weak to kick a ball? Besides that, If they were good enough, wouldn't they have already filled in the gaps right after Konkon, Asami and Miuna left the team? Why now?

Just a thought, nothing more :)

Just a FYI for everybody, but the Sphere League is still going. http://www.sphereleague.com/

They have a tournament coming up in May, Gatas just isn't a part of it anymore. I'm kind of down on this; I like team dream and know who some of the people on it are, so it's a bummer to see team dream and gatas not in the same league.

I can't imagine that girls futsal is so popular that they can afford to have multiple leagues, especially when the most well known teams aren't in the same one. I'm assuming H!P wanted more money for being in it then they were getting from skylark group.

A possibility. And maybe they realized that they wouldn't stand a chance given the new line-up. Can't say I like it either. Now the creation of the Sapporo Cerbies is starting to make sense (given that they're part of Skylark too). But what will Mai do when Gatas meets Sapporo? Play for each team one halftime? Lol

Love the Yossi/Mikitty pic! ^_^ It's like Yossi = "I couldn't be prouder," while Mikity = "Meh, w/ever."

dcpoor: question her strength? yes! On account of not knowing anything about it (or, especially, her). I take it from your response that she's strong?

The Incredible He-Hulk: It could be about money... Skylark WAS the Gatas main sponsor before... but I think it's more likely related to the fact that the Gatas are mostly under 16 now. The Shere league isn't as physically aggressive as, say... Major League Soccer, or World Cup Soccer... but it's not really gentle either. Then again, we won't know if the new league is going to be more hands-off until we start to see some officially reffed games.

Mattthecat: different... leagues...

Well either the member additions were not announced, or didn't happen earlier was possibly because the girls were training up to the level of the rest of the Gatas. Hopefully that was the case. I think out of the top teams that participated in Sphere League, Gatas was one of the least trained and refined teams, unfortunately.

Even though they train hard, they really depend on Korenaga more then they should. Hopefully the new teammates will add some new dimension to the team :P

Well, the leagues sure do got me confused.

But anyways, I'm wondering how good the kids really are...I've never watched any of their games...(as far as I know, Little Gatas only played at Sports Festivals, right?)

Well, I hope everyone trains well. Good luck to them!!! I'll make sure to watch the 1st game!!!

Skylark is still Gatas' sponsor. The most likely reason they are not in the Skylark Cup is due to a scheduling conflict. Morning Musume has their final concert of the tour on the next day (i.e Yoshizawa's graduation).

Maimi is an absolutely SICK goalie from what I've seen. I've been wanting them to add her to the team since Konno left.

Maimi's a goalie? I only saw a clip of her...shooting a PK, poled the shot and bounced in. Does it mean she can play all positions? :D

If they have decided to add in Little Gatas, what were the auditions for? Or WHO were the auditions for?

@aimaime, maybe you're right! But, in fact, the goalie of little gatas are Massa and Erica! I think Maimi played as Pivo/Ara!

Anyway, yay for those kids join in!(esp. Maim<-----most talentedi)^^ But so sad Gatas don't play in Sphere League!
No Carezza......No funny!T_T

I wish Gatas Brilhantes the best! Yossie, Miki, Tsuji and Rika are definately their top cards, but I hope the rest of the members grow to help the team achieve many things! I agree with Horrisu-San, I loove the pic! Hitomi is showing her Gata Brilhantes pride while Fujimoto...well...seems less enthusiastic! He He!
