Awesome! Thanks. Japan is so weird about ages, Ai old? lol. She looks really youthful so I'm sure she will pull off the role perfectly.

Thanks again for the translations ronin

I am definately gonna check this out, I read the manga before and it was great, i can't wait to see the live action show.

Ai really does look like a highschool student though even out of character.

I can't wait to see this show. :3 I think this'll be the one exception to watching things RAW if nobody ends up subbing it.

Ai could definately pass for a High School student over where I am.

lol, I liked how the other girls in the group called her "middle-aged".
I still can't believe she's in her twenties anyways...
She looks like a high-schooler to me.

I'll be waiting for this show. The only other Japanese mystery drama I've seen was Death Note and I enjoyed how they do the deduction/demonstration parts.

@Lucy: Takahashi does look younger than her age. She could easily pass for a 17 year old. Just compare her to members who are 17 or about 17 years old in H!P Kids: Umeda Erika, Captain, Maimi and Momoko ( Ok mayb not Momo, she still looks like when shes was 13 years old ^_^;; )

And Ronin does it again *crowd roars*!!!

haha, she already looks young and all the members are freaked out at her playing a 17 year old. ^^; Can't wait for the drama next year!!

Ha! It's funny how they seem to making a big deal about this, when in America, almost all Teenagers are played by mid-20s actors :P
Also: The drama sounds REALLY interesting. I really like these kinds of detective stories, with the male logical lead the female companion who adds a more human element to it than the cold male lead.

@ D.J.: actually, the article doesn't really say "middle-aged woman", it says おばさん (obasan) which would mean an even older woman. :P

 mini_mo
 2008-11-15 17:16
Ahah, a 20-something playing a teen is really that hard to ponder? It's pretty common in the US XD And if she's "middle-aged," then to them I must be an 80 year old!

Anyway, I love Jdramas that have a MM member (former or current) in them, so I'll be sure to watch if somebody subs it :)

 Ronin
 2008-11-15 17:57
@ mangomalte: Since it's おばさん and not おばあさん, I translated it as "middle-aged woman". It can also mean "aunt", but that doesn't make sense here.

 Fickle Monkey
 2008-11-15 18:09
I don't usually look forward to watching J-dramas, but this one is definitely an exception! Well, mainly because Ai-chan is one of the leads, and I want to see her bad-ass side - beating people up without mercy, and all ~ >:D

Ha ha, Ai-chan getting called middle-aged woman is funny. Why would the members need to 'worry' about their Leader playing a high school student-role in a drama, when she has the looks for it? She's so youthful! (lol)

Thanks for the translation.

She looks good... and America is the same way when it comes to age... at least that I have seen. I am a year older than Takahashi.

First of all, thanks Ronin for the translations!

Secondly, I'm really excited to see this! Even though I haven't read the manga, it sounds like an interesting storyline. And Takahashi definitely can pass for 17! I'm almost 23 and I've had people think I look 12! It's the curse/blessing of being Asian, I think...

America is notorious for this. Anyone remember a show called Beverly Hills 90210? Freaking 35 year old Luke Perry pretending to be a high school student!

Matsuyama Kenichi played 15 year old Shin from Nana when he was 20 only to be replaced by the more reasonable looking 17 year old Kanata Hongo in Nana 2. Hongo also played a middle school student in the Prince of Tennis live action that same year.

On the flip side 21 year old Ishihara Satomi was cast as a 30 something high school teacher in Puzzle.

Realistically the members (Gaki?) are most likely joking since idols and women in general seem to be so age conscious. If famous people from the west can pull off getting older I don't know why they're so quick to put their Japanese stars out to pasture once they hid 20+.

Yeah, I took that as a joke comiing from the mostly teens in MoMusu.....

I'm going to need to make my own TV Guide to keep up with all the shows. Does anyone know the date and airtime of this? If someone knows this in Tokyo time, I can just subtract 12 hours......

Oh, thanks Ronin for the translations! I really love your usernaem......:)

This is exciting...!!!
and 22 is NOT middle-aged!! (maybe most think so in Japan since you get "old" when you're in your twenties as an idol...) but never anywhere else! That's definitely still young... just think of it as a college student playing a highschool student. XDD

LOL @ the age joke from the other members...XD I don't think Ai will have a problem passing as a high school student. Though she's 22, she actually looks younger IMO. And there have been other Japanese actors in their twenties who have played high schoolers (though I think that J-dramas and movies tend to cast actual teenagers more often).

Haha.. yea.. weird calling a 22-year-old "old". That would define a 30-year-old. Maybe cuz all of MM r so young.. Aichan's the oldest there.. so.. HAHA..
Anyways.. crappy manga.. but I look forward to watching Aichan in her first major role...

That's better than mine, in my case I read "Quantum ElectroDynamics" :P
I guess that's professional deformation... In my defense I said that I don't write q.e.d.
I put the spanish form, c.q.d.

lol. There are only two musumes who are bold enough to said that, Sayu or Koharu.
But if 22 is old, then I'm an ojiijan already?!
