Have been waiting for this moment since the last two year when Berryz getting weaker. I am glad Captain is taking official approach in this matter and handle stuffs professionally. I am glad they finally decided not to wait for a chance to come rolling in but actually create the opportunity themselves! Come Berryz! I've been waiting for this moment! It is never too late!

And i feel that Miya was also have waited this moment for long time since she is the one who has the biggest ambition between Berryz them self. We can already saw her performance as leader even though she wasn't a leader for berryz.

I think you are a strong person when you realize you can do everything yourself and are willing to ask for support. The role of Captain/Leader was pretty much just put on Saki because she was the oldest. Age really doesn't make you a leader or more experience than someone younger than you. I never saw her as a aggressive or pushy person. Like she said, she is passive and likes to support from the shadows. A leader should be supportive but also willing to get the ball rolling when nothing is happening for you. I've always really like Saki but realizing her peers are getting the bigger and better gig lit the fire in her,
Miyabi is an interesting choice to be her "sub-captain/Lieutenant. She is extremely popular with the fans and looks to be more outgoing than Saki. It get the feeling this will be a good cop, bad cop thing with them.
Happy she didn't pick momoko, that would be a train wreck. Risako is just too....into herself, I guess. Maasa is too friendly. Chinami needs her naps! Yurina's height is intimating enough, lol.
I hope this is the push they need to catch up to C-ute.

This is the start of a brand new stronger and more determined berryz. Their ultimate goal is to have a concert at budokan and i am sure they can do it! With Captain at the helm alongside Miyabi as her sub-captain, berryz will reach new heights.

That's wild. I've always felt that Berryz was the best of Hello Project (over the long term) and that Shimizu was a remarkable captain, to have held them together so well over all these years (and keeping Momochi in check). I also thought, when I heard about C-ute and Budokan, that it is odd that Berryz hasn't already been there.
Well, she has my support, she and Miyabi now more then ever. Another 10 years of Berryz would please me!

Another thing: Miya will lead them with iron hand. This miss perfectionist known for her ambitious nature and can be very strict in matters relating to work.

And with one swift stroke, Captain has chosen friendship over tradition, betraying half of Berryz. You reap what you sow, Captain! House Momochi's memory is long, and its twin tails sharp! The War of the Seven Berryz begins!

Meanwhile, House Tokunaga couldn't be reached for comment since she fell asleep while the situation was being explained to her...

While C-ute one up them with Budokan concert, Berryz got the overseas concerts. So they both have their own unique accomplishments. But looks like Budokan concert is just so prestigious in Japan.
From what I understand, C-ute just has a huge following of female fans. Even Mayuyu from AKB said that their members often watched C-ute concerts. So it'll be interesting how Berryz is going to appeal to female audience.
And if Momo becomes a vice-captain, the band would probably change name to Momochi Kobou so, yeah, Miyabi is probably a better choice.

This has me unsettled.
It seems as if there is a graduation coming up in a year.
"I must accomplish this before I leave," sort of feeling.
Hope I'm wrong, but I don't like this feeling.

^I got almost the same feeling, like "this can be great..but, is Saki not telling us the rest of her 'story'?" we'll find out. either way, BK has surpassed the time I thought they'd be graduated and set off to different units/solo etc by now. But looks like theres still a couple yrs of BK left! In that sense, I'm glad. They're so funky it's hard not to be pleased.

Time for Miya "lets have a Goood tiime!"

Momo said she want to continue on as idol until she's old, n i think i've heard some members said it b4. I've thought that this decision ought to come out out from captain herself and she did, which is awesome. Her decision on appointing miya as the vice- captain is just golden, i must say the inly person who are maybe, strict after maasa is miya and risako. They have the somewhat coercing aura in them. Since captain had always been a kind and sweet leader in the group, she need this kind of sub caotain. Abd since she can tell everything she feels to miya it might encourage her to be strong along her plan. I was kind of worry if the members are reluctant to follow her new lead especially from chii n momo but unexpectedly they're the first to react with her plan after miya. Chii sounds cimpletely happy with d decision while momo tried to be +ve (i hope so).. Well, i may overeact, but i'd like to just watch n see ( n of course support them)

@darkvision
At least in my eyes, it seems that Japanese don't care that much if they have gone overseas like 5 times for concerts.

Here are all the reactions I've seen to so far to Captain's announcement last night:

Tsunku's confirmation:

Captain's first blog today:

Miyabi's response:

Momochi's:

Yurina's:

Risako's:

Chinami wrote a response congratulating Miya, and wondering what role she'll be in the future (since Captain said she would assign more). She thinks she'll be in charge of English  "I can do it!" she said :)
...she also said it'd be fine if the two of them occasionally looked to Chinami for help :) <3 sweet girl.

Maasa said she also wants to aim for the Budoukan, and work hard so more people will get to know them and be able to have fun there. She also said she'd support Saki-chan and Miya the best she can.

leaders aren't really relevant so this announcement makes me feel like there's going to be a grad soon

^ agree >.> ... I have the same feeling. It´s not such an important thing who becomes a sub-leader. More promotion and a better sales strategy are more effective. Though, Saki is doing a good job as a captain but we shouldn´t forget that she turns 22 this year. It wouldn´t be such a big surprise if she graduates from H!P anytime soon.

I dunno. 22 isn't too old to be an idol. And I somehow feel that BK (or Cute for that matter) will have no single graduations. They'll disband as a unit when the time comes (and it hasn't yet). If a leader isn't that important then why make it a big deal about naming a subleader... I agree that a group leader has little impact when it comes to matters of importance (that will always be decided by the agency and management) it can be an important factor within a group itself though. Cute to me has appeared more of a unit with lots of energy and communication amongst each other while BK was a group made up of individuals. Maybe something was needed to liven things up internally.

Leaders are as relevant as they want to be.

Takahashi as a leader tried to set a good example. Nakazawa as a leader met individually with members to talk about things they needed to improve. Kei as a sub-leader held mini-voice lessons and singing lessons. Kaori as a leader tried to keep people's spirits strong.

Think of being a leader like being an older sister. Do you HAVE to do stuff as an older sister? No. You're born into it. A good older sister, however, looks out for her little siblings, helps them practice or study, makes sure they aren't bullied/bullies, etc. Same goes.
