You do realize that considering you hold none of the files, you have no liability, right? Please don't take away the place where most fans (even in Japan) get to see TV shows etc.

Plus, if there were to be legal action taken, it would've happened 2009 when H!O staff were complaining about not getting press passes to see Musume (and it was obvious UF had just done research and known it was primarily a torrent site)

I, for one, shifted all my BitTorrent activities to a different continent years ago.
Alternately, could we not just move to a trackerless system using DHT or Mainline DHT, or even better, full support for Peer Exchange (PeX)?
BitTorrent can work just fine without a central tracker, so long as you have enough dedicated seeders and encode the seed .torrent files to support it (HTTP-Seed data might be sufficient, for example).

Haku, I appreciate greatly what you have done for us, the international community. There's no way I nor almost any of us would be as much a fan without the tracker and the ability to easily get "up to speed" with Hello! Project.
Of course, considering how much of an asset the tracker has been to us all I can't imagine why it can't be saved. Certainly there are enough of us in this community to make this happen. I don't particularly possess any skills or knowledge in this regard, but perhaps someone out there has enough knowledge and expertise to deliver the tracker from Haku at least partly intact.

This is probably going to be the downfall of this site... You're not liable for the tracker so I don't really see the issue. Please give people time to archive these files. If not, many files will be lost forever.

I'd be very happy in hearing alternative ideas from people, such as alternative trackers, use of file hosts, or anything else, which can ensure at least that we can watch our favorite TV shows.

I'm a fan of MM & HP since 2004 and joined H!O 2005, and this was my nr. 1 source for all the good idol-stuff, so it's sad to say sayonara to the tracker... but I can understand the reason. A few years ago, the same happened to my dorama-source at d-addicts, but luckily, there are some other sources like nyaa to get my stuff !

I guess the big guns could use Jpopsuki, they wouldn't have problems getting ratio up, but it has some disadvantages (no "anonymous" upload support, no batches allowed, private torrents, etc). But have some advantages, like free leechings. And it might be possible to talk to JPS administrators to get all of them VIP status to allow them set their own torrents to free leeching (.ts, mpeg, etc).
But in the end, JPS will shut down. It already did once, it can do it again.

This is quite a blow. It's thanks to this site and the community that it grew up in that I learned Japanese, got a job that takes me to Japan regularly, and got in touch with some spectacular fans on both sides of the Pacific. A labor of love such as this site should not be allowed to sink without a fight, but at the same time NO user has the right to shackle Haku to it.
If there is anything that H!O can leave behind, it is the momentum of the many, many users here. I hope that momentum can carry this community to a new haven.

Thanks to Haku for all your contributions to this community. It's going to be a tough time for people who rely on the tracker to see TV shows and keep up to date with appearances etc but I'm sure alternatives can be found in time.
