Oh my god! I hope the guy is okay but we find out something new about H!P everyday. I didn't know that they had to ask to to something the law allows(the REAL law). first cutting their hair now this? And now no member will be alowed to drive? That is really screwed up.

As much as I think it's unfair that they can't drive, I don't think that'll prove to be a huge problem. I doubt they did most of their own driving anyway since most of them use company cars for transportation and they probably live in the city or relatively close to it; some idol companies (like JE) use the subway for transportation anyway. And I'm glad that dude and Abe are okay (Abe's alright...right?) But regardless of all that, it's just one more freedom those poor girls don't have...

wow....their contract of management is surely extensive, eh? Even permission to drive is also controlled. In a way it could be good because maybe UFA's intention is the safety of their idols. But it's also bad, because that's like lack of freedom to do whatever they(the idols) want. One idol had a car accident, but that doesnt mean ALL H!P members is likely to be a reckless driver. But, oh well. They better pay for these girls' taxi fare, since they dont want them to drive. lol.
Just a something random. I thought the field reporter was a guy XD

amydien ~ Taxis are really expensive here... It's not something you'd want to use on a regular basis. D: Honestly, the train system is so good here in Japan that it's not even really necessary. You only need a taxi to get to places the train or bus can't go (not very many places) or when the trains stop running very late at night. Yeah, there's not as much freedom, but you can get to most major places, and UFA pays for their transport in vans to anywhere else of course.

Nacchi should just park her driving privileges away for good and steer clear away from any cars for awhile. UFA will most certainly throttle Nacchi's neck after hearing about this. This one is going to be very tough for Nacchi to wheel herself out of and is unfortunately driving all her fans to a frenzy of panic. No doubt, every media in town will be racing bumper to bumper to get the latest scoop about this tragic incident. The news traffic on this story will probably totally spiral out of control. If I were Nacchi, I would just tell all those nosy media dipsticks to promptly hit the road (don't they ever run out of gas anyways?). Poor Nacchi, she must be completely tired and exhausted over this accident. Even though her first attempt to drive a car might have backfired and inadvertently crashed the hopes of other HP members of acquiring their own drivers license, I'm confident that she will be back on the road to a full recovery very soon.

It just clicked why they probably couldn't get licenses very easily prior to this. Didn't that one Country Musume girl have a fatal car accident in like 1999? That probably had them on edge enough; this just helps to further their point, I'm sure. I hope Nacchi isn't too shook up. It'll be okay, Nacchi~ <3

I can safely bet the no driving rule doesn't apply only to UFA. The talent agency would want to protect their assets and protecting them from road related accidents is just one of them. Even on this comment's thread some have voiced how scared they were when they tot Nacchi was in a fatal accident. When I look it this way I think the no driving rule is fair enough for us fans. I don't want any of the H!P girls involved in a fatal road accident.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think being unable to drive in Japan is a really big deal. With their busy schedules I can't imagine how often they'd even have to drive off where ever they wanted, and as I said, the trains and buses go almost anywhere aside from maybe the middle of nowhere. :p I honestly think it's a good idea, because I would worry about my favorite idols getting into car crashes too.
I've been posting too much on this news post, haha.

I think it is only for safety issue, if I remembered correctly, there is a member of HP died a few years ago in a car accident...so, it is possible for the IDOL company like HP to bind memebers from driving...oh well, sometime you just can't be too careful, so GOOD LUCK ALL HP GIRLS>>>

Isn't there a line in one of the "Joshi" songs about how badly Yossie parks? Maybe this is a new rule...
H!P and UFA are trying to protect their asset, I am sure. Many celebs in America have similar restrictions while working to prevent movies or such from derailing should their be an accident. The insurance policies on them are huge as well and accidents cause premium increases that are $$$. A MM member is one of 1-13 people, a soloist can stop a whole show.

I think the "She will not drive the car after this. (also other H!P members)" part is just a speculation by jukucho-love and isn't anything official. We'll probably just have to wait for UFA's reaction.
To the people who say that UFA is treating the girls like "slaves", the girls most likely enjoy the business (as shown in the interview with Kago's mother) and I don't think people would really like being "slaves", but I'm still pretty sure they have some negative thoughts on some of the rules they must follow.

@NEWTAIP: The only H!P member I know that died in a car accident is a member of Country Musume, right before their first single was released :( It was such a trauma for the members that 2 members resigned later on leaving only 1 member left in CM... Until today I think CM has not recover from that trauma.

Michi- Yes, it's just you. :p Some people just don't want to be chauffeured all their lives. Plus, once you experience the freedom of driving on your own, you never want to abide by anyone else's time! I don't care how convenient public transportation is, there's nothing quite like your own enclosed space and being in control of your own agenda.
At any rate, I hope UFA doesn't punish her too terribly for this. Seems like this year hasn't been too good for H!P.

People are only just realising UFA (and most agencies, in fact) are slave labourers? Where have you guys been?
Mind you, the 'no driving' thing isn't too suprising, it's not uncommon in the west for actors to be banned from driving while a movie is in progress. That said, the restrictions places by the agencies seem to apply to their entire life. It's wrong and they're abusing their position, but it's nothing new.
