I side with Aichan completely with this. Nerves are what get you prepared and there is no real way to stop them (you can calm them down, but never stop them completely). It's also nice to know your body is ready to begin, even if it's overly-excited!
Based on experience, it's when I'm at least slightly nervous that I do my best. When I'm not nervous, I forget what and how I'm going to say/do something and I tend to just give a poor performance. It's as if I care so little that my mind and body are already somewhere else (eg. someone on stage looking bored to be there).
