Wow, just recently I was wondering about S/mileage adding new member. Though what I hope for is the current 4 graduate all of the same time and form another group.

OMG a new member!!! I don't know if I like it or not, but I can't say I don't like it yet cuz I don't know what girl it is. I think she will be a very sweet and kind girl. I will go with that I like it :D

It's going to take a while to sink in that there will be new members.

I sort of believe this to be an underhanded method that the company's using in order to find the Ace(s) for MM. Not that the company won't be looking for a S/mileage member, just that it's not the only reason.
[Possible] Reasons: Close audition dates, S/mileage's held first; age range is pretty similar; some girls might think that auditioning for S/mileage would wield better chances than were they auditioning for MM; some girls might not have wanted to participate in MM's first round... and there are probably more reasons than that.

Good luck to those auditioning!

I don't know why people are suddenly assuming that the current members are going to graduate. He's just adding a new member into the group, people! He didn't say anything about graduations.

S/mileage said they oppose it, a very large portion of the fans seem to oppose it, yet Tsunku and UFA management gives the approval stamp. I guess they know better than we do.

I'm still kinda pessimistic about this after seeing the reaction from the girls :(
But personally I like the idea.

Al Kusanagi said on the picboard they were gonna rotate members or something? Does anyone have any proof of this?

Hmm, given it a little thought, it does make a sense. This way the group could last longer, just like Momusu. It would be probably impossible to add members to Berryz or C-ute now after such long time, but S/mileage is relatively young group and this way they make a precedent to the future. But I can say for myself that what S/mileage needs are better songs, members themselves are good. The worst thing is that the members don't like the idea - it will be hard for a newcomer there.

I actually like this!
I mean, it might be a bit weird (especially since all the others were Eggs and knew each other..) since they've been doing it for a year and they've been through everything together, but hey, if Momusu gets through it, so can S/mileage!

Sigh, here comes the graduation talk about the newest H!P group with some of the youngest H!P members.../facepalm

EDIT: Did anyone notice that Tsunku told the girls that they were missing something and that's why they need a new member? Ouch!! As if waiting this long to pull an audition isn't sudden enough! (I know it's only a year, but still.)

I wonder if this girl have an adorable voice like Yuuka and Dawa, or more of a Kanon/Saki feel...or something completely different?
And...What if S/mileage became 6 or 7 nin? o-o

At the very first moment I though S/mileage would be a great group because of the small number of members and because they all had experience in H!P Egg. And it did turn into a great group.

But adding members seems senseless to me o_o
It would be more difficult to the girls to be individually known, and they will look like any other idol group with 6, 7 members.
As taiyou197 said in YT, neither the members nor the fans want it, Tsunku-san.

But i'll keep supporting S/mileage, and I hope these new members to keep the high level and image of the group ♦

i feel it's too sudden for a new member i mean i thought they would stay in a 4 member group kinda like Melon Kinenbi idt they need new members i think they need better music given to them...imho i think C-ute needs new members they were a big group and now they're a small group :)

I like them as 4 :(

But let's see what happens, it IS true that Tsunku said they'd add new members anyways.

this is... interesting. Waiting to see how it plays out. Not angry, not excited, just very very curious. Remember, the first generation of Morning Musume broke out in tears when they learned there would be new members. And look how that turned out.

Actually a sign that says by one hand that the members can be changed anytime, by the other hand, there's no need for such commitment to keep the group as one. Feel free to quit anytime without constraint. Well, if some of them want to go to university... the door is opened (that's the good side!)

adding more members.. i don't think this going to work..
tsunku, are you sure about this???

Tsunku did state that the number of members is not set in stone per se. It's not his fault many of you have selective memories and forget certain details. You gotta remember, when Tsunku says something, it's not just lip service. He will follow through with it, just on his/company's timing, not the fans.

Besides, the girls are staying, they're just going to have a member added. I predict that many of you who do not like the idea will fall in love with the new girl and wonder how did S/mileage get along without her........totally forgetting that you were against it from the start. That's what you guys do the best, itsn't it?

@michikodesu You are the bright spot in my day; the sense of reason in this madness. Between both the fact that he flat out told us this was going to happen and the fact that.. frankly... s/mileage has not nearly been around long enough for us to go "how is this going to work?!?!?!?!" people are really, really going crazy. And... imho, along with being historically myopic, also being a little dense.

How is this going to work? How is he going to pull off adding someone to an established group? /Really/?

I can't imagine how Morning Musume survived the additions of Kei, Mari, and Sayaka....? That's the same situation that S/Mileage is entering now. As for MoMusu; the girls weren't really pleased about second generation being added, either, by the way. They were kind of pissed off at first. They were also REALLY pissed off for 3rd generation, and, for those of you who don't remember Maki Goto all that well, SHE was pissed off at 4th generation because she was now no longer the kid of the group.

Take members feelings with a grain of salt. They don't know the future any more than we know the future and... frankly... are also teenage girls who aren't precisely a group with a huge track history of knowing themselves at the time or predicting what their likes and dislikes really are going to be. Maki hated all of fourth gen before they joined and when she first met them and she was besties by the end. Yuko hated second generation... and frankly most of her own generation and she still now texts Mari and hangs out with Nacchi and Kaori.

There have been precisely 4 member additions in groups in the Hello Project that didn't go over well initially with large swaths of fans: Jun Jun, Lin Lin, Aika and Niigaki. That's it. Seriously, even the remade Shugo Chara went over well. 4 girls out of how many countless girls in the hello project? And I'm sure someone's going to harass me for saying that Aika, Niigaki and the Pandas were hated because they love them. So sit back, relax, wait to see who comes in and we'll all forget about how utterly ridiculous people's claims of the world ending are when they're invariably adorable and awesome and the girls become friends with the new person (s).

Chicken Little is not meant to be a positive role model .

I've lost all interest in MM since the ejection of the Pandas, Miki, Tsuji, and Kago. They're not even interesting anymore. S/milage at least shows some promise.

I'm glad some people have good heads on their shoulders. I didn't pay a TON of attention to S/milage's start, to be honest. So I didn't know that Tsunku had said the number of members was not fixed.

Given that, I was kind of surprised to hear they were having auditions. It's an interesting turn of events, and I am curious to see how it turns out, really.

@Kitsuiko - While I do love Niigaki/Aika and the pandas, I'm not going to get upset. ;) But I will say, their popularity HAS grown. There's a lot of big Aika fans these days, and even JJ and LL got them by the end. Niigaki... I think she's really grown up from the awkward looking girl with insane eyebrows. So that's also credence to the fact that Tsunku typically makes good decisions, even if the majority bitches about the decisions he makes at the time.

Me? I'm going to sit back, relax and wait for the announcements of who is joining both S/mileage and MM. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

Personally I think it's best to leave the graduations and the auditions to Momusu ^^: Because the new girl of s/mileage didn't go through the same thing as the others and for that, might be completely ostracized from the group. I think that would just get everyone upset in the end ^^:
I'm actually quite satisfied with the members of s/mileage; before I didn't follow any other group but MM, but after seeing the most ridiculous things those 4 do, I slowly fell in love with them.

I guess the new girl will have to be extremely outgoing, funny and nice(?) in order to assimilate well. =P

@hello!online - all that is ancient history... why are you still dwelling in that ^_^;;

Don't like this idea coz I think they are still young to have juniors at the moment and the 4nin formation is working just fine.

@DarkRai that can be said for anyone entering any new group ever for all of time. Do you have friends that knew each other before they knew you? I mean, same diff, right? They had experiences from middle, high school or even college you don't share but... it's not really all that rough.

While I think s/mileage is perfectly fine as is I'll hold off judgement until I see who becomes the new member. It could be a majorly talented cutey that we'll all love for all we know.

so that's the reason. H!P didn't have enough applicants for Momusu audition.

personally, i feel bad for Akari (other shugo chara egg member who was replaced by Saki upon making S/mileage) cause it's pretty disappointing to see all your former group members being so successful when you're still an Egg. And now they're just holding auditions rather than just promoting another Egg. That's my opinion...

Honestly, I'm looking forward to the results of the audition. H!P needs something new, because (sorry) MM is going to be stale until all the older members graduate.
