I got to meet her twice (I believe indirectly thanks to Universus). This is... oh man. This hurts.
She was such a nice woman, she made us silly foreign fans who didn't speak Japanese feel right at home in her restaurant, we'd sit around with the locals and joke and laugh and half fun right through the night, well past closing time. She'd do things like watch us trying crazy new food to see our reaction, and make sure we were being looked after and having fun.
She will be dearly missed.

It is always sad when someone passes away at an untimely age, but, if I understand correctly, something similar happened to her father (a climbing accident), AND her brother is in prison.
It's all so tragic it seems like something a soap opera writer would make up- would that it were fiction!
