Cue to °C-ute*
°C-ute’s Day was held once again this year on September 10th**!!
So, we have asked each of the members to:

1. Reflect upon the time when °C-ute’s Day was held for the first time four years ago
2. Let us know what to look out for in EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!!
3. Provide a graduation message to graduating Umeda Erika

* °C-ute has had different regular features over the years in Kindai magazine, Cue to °C-ute was the first one (it ran from 2006 to 2007)
** 9/10 (September 10th) is pronounced as "kyuuto" in Japanese, the same pronouciation as "°C-ute". A °C-ute concert in celebration of that day is held every year since 2006.

1. I think we have all changed. We are now more aware of what it means to be a professional, and I believe the difference between us in the present and what we were like during our first concert reflects that point. At that time, everything seemed like a challenge. Now, we have matured and are able to work with composure.

(We look more mature now, right?)

There are actually quite a few people who tell us that. (laughs)

I don’t think I really grew any taller, so I have been drinking two cups of milk every day. Fortunately, I have outgrown Nacchan (Nakajima)! (laughs)

2. The song really brings up your spirit, and the dance routine that goes with it is really cool. There are many lines that are easy to connect to – such as:

“All I can do is work harder than them for a moment”

It would be nice if you could all relate to the lyrics too.

3. Erika-chan is like an older sister to me who teaches me all sorts of things – such as being stylish. Since she has been around longer than I have (laughs) there are lots of things that she knows.

Although there is still quite a bit that I would like to learn from her, I will support her as she goes on to pursue her dream to become a model. I hope she will do her best. I also hope she won’t forget about °C-ute and that she will come back to teach me more about fashion.

1. Honestly, I didn’t use to pay much attention to my appearance. I would just leave my hair the way it is (laughs) and go to school every morning. Things have changed now though – I iron my hair each and every day.

(Does that mean I have become more feminine?)

I wonder if that’s true. There are still times where I’m like “whatever!” when I see my hair (laughs)

Also, back in the day I used to just put my head down and work like a daredevil, but now I actually take time to think about what I’m doing. When I sing I wonder whether I have performed it well enough, and when I dance I try to come up with ways to make each move look better.

2. There are many shots of us dancing together, and there are many lines where we all sing together. I would like everyone to hear our voices in unison and watch us ace the dance routine.

3. To me, Erika-chan is like an important family member, and because she is so important, not having her around is a huge issue. After her graduation, the five of us will do our best to become a unit that she can be proud of.

We will continue to support each other, and I hope that someday, somewhere, we will be able to work together again.

1. I think my voice and tone has become fuller over the years. Back in the day, I hated how I sounded thin and weak, and I always wanted to develop a fuller sound. So, I came up with all these methods to deliver my voice, and I think that has allowed me change.

My attitude towards music has changed as well. I began listening to Western music since I was recommended to do so.

Also, my appearance is different compared to the time when I was an elementary school student. Since I’m in middle school now, it’s only natural that I would look different, but I don’t think my height is different (laughs)

2. The DVD that comes with the limited edition version of the single includes scenes where we make takoyaki and okonomiyaki. The video is a nice source that shows the natural side of the members, and I would like everyone to have a chance to see that.

3. My time together with Erika-chan has been longer than with anyone else in °C-ute and Hello! Project Kids, so we know each other very well and are able to talk about all sorts of things. She is my sister who is always interesting and kind. Since she is so stylish, whenever she tells me that what I’m wearing is cute, I feel very confident and wear the piece with pride.

Let’s create lots and lots of amazing memories before you graduate.

Also, don’t forget about taking me to Yokohama.

1. I used to be incredibly shy and I never really talked. During the Hello! Project Kids auditions, I sat in the middle of the waiting room by myself. Mai-chan and Chisato came over and sat beside me, and I shifted my chair away from them. They would move towards me, and then I would move away. And then, they would move closer towards me again, and I would still move away (laughs)

Now, I have overcome my shyness and can talk quite a bit with everyone. Lots of people tell me that I have changed.

Also, I used to find it difficult to express myself. Like, I would be smiling all the way through a PV and not have any other expressions. Lately, I think I’ve been able to put myself in a mood suitable for the song and show everyone what I’m really like.

2. The PV was shot on a rooftop stage, and we used cranes to shoot the video. I think the video turned out awesome, so I hope you will have a chance to watch it.

3.Whether it’s style, dancing, or posing for photos, Erika-chan does it all so well. She is like an older sister that I admire.

She used to always make us laugh when we were all together, and I hope she stays the same as she begins her journey to become a model.

1. Back then, I was so thin that everyone would ask me whether I was eating anything or now. I used to dislike eating since I wanted to use that time to play. Now, I really enjoy my meals, especially when there’s meat (laughs)

Also, I have learned to express myself. During my first jacket shoot with ZYX, the staff told me that I should look cool because the song was cool. I had no idea how to make myself look cool, so I went with a serious expression… (laughs)

2. Our new song is refreshing and cheerful, and I think the PV that was shot in the sky matches it perfectly. It would be nice to have everyone watch it.

3. When I heard about Eri’s graduation, I sent her a message immediately. In her reply, she told me that:

“If any of the members are going to say bold or rude things, you should be forceful with them since the bond within the unit won’t be broken by something like that”

It feels like she really knows what’s going on.

After she graduates, we will have to work even harder. I have known about her dream to become a model for quite a while now, and she will have my support.

I’ll buy every single magazine you appear in, so please do your best.

1. Back then, it was difficult for me to keep my composure. I used to be very excitable, and during concert MC corners, I would be shooting out words like a machine gun (laughs)

It seemed like I was really self centered and I never thought about anyone else (laughs)

Now that four years have passed, I am now able to take those around me into consideration and realize when I should talk and when I should fall back and just support what the others have to say.

2. I really recommend paying attention to the lyrics of our new single. Now that I have become more mature, I am able to relate to the encouraging message contained in the song.

EVERYDAY Zekkouchou! is providing me with the courage and energy that I need to do my best after I graduate, and I hope that it will do the same for you.

3. To Maimi:

Since we’re the same age, I have been able to talk to you more than to anyone else. After I graduate, you will be the one who will bring the members together. If anything comes up, please let me know.

To Nakki:

I know you are afraid of loneliness, but I want you to be strong. I’m not worried about you because I know you are working very hard.

You have to power to bring all the members together and put everything in order, so when Maimi is in trouble, please help her out.

To Airi:

Everyone loves who you are right now, so I hope you will stay the same. Don’t let anyone or anything confuse you. Please continue working hard without forgetting who you really are.

To Chisato:

Whenever someone isn’t feeling well, you are always the one who runs to the staff to get a thermometer and a towel to help us out. You are also the mood-maker of the unit and you can always make us laugh. Please continue on as you are and do your best.

To Mai-chan:

Since you are the youngest member, sometimes you come through with the image of a spoilt child. I know you are trying very hard to catch up to the rest of the members and become like an older sister to everyone else, but when you run into trouble, make sure you ask the other sisters you have for help and continue to do your best.

To the fans:

Your warm voices have brought me encouragement over and over again. What I am today is a result of your support. I will never forget what you have given me, and I will keep it with me as I move on to the next stage of my life.

Thank you very much.
