Yeah, but they didn't play any recent songs from AKB48. It looks like they were focusing on the dances that are best known and easiest to imitate. Sort of the fan-friendly dances.

There is self-study. It exists. I had TWO books of naughty phrases in Japanese when I lived in Japan because I thought it was hilarious. I was 22 at the time. I still have those books, and I left Japan in 2004. Again, my rural MIDDLE SCHOOL students knew all kinds of bad things to say in English, and that was before the internet was was easily accessible by smartphone. A simple Google search would find LOTS of sites with naughty things in English. I bet the other members have asked her how to say naughty things in English because I had people CONSTANTLY asking me. She is 20 and she has spent plenty of time with English speakers both in Japan and in the US (remember the whole NBA thing?).

Look, I have taught ESL for years and have a MA in Linguistics/TESL. Most of the English learning, actually most LANGUAGE learning, does NOT happen in the classroom. It comes from usage, trial and error, etc. The things people pick up on the most are the things they are interested in. I once had a very low level student in the US come into class every darn day with a new bit of slang that he wanted me to break down for him, because that was INTERESTING to him. As a result, he was an amazing vocabulary learner (grammar, not so much).

I think Sanma is a total creeper who creeps, and that whole segment made me feel uncomfortable, but let's not act like idols are these pristine, untouched, innocent creatures, because... they're not. That is an act. All idols have admitted that it's an act.

I'm confused why some people on here think that she stopped learning English beyond what was learned in the US before 3rd-4th grade. Do you honestly think she still speaks like an American 3rd grader?  :c11:  Trust me, she has continued studying English and she HAS learned many of the naughty words. Especially considering the prevalence of porn in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if that phrases has been romanized and used in Japanese porn.

And yeah, JPope, I've never considered that phrase even remotely subtle. XD

Good lord, I lived in Japan from 2002-2004 and taught in a middle school in a very rural town back before there was easy internet access, and trust me, my MIDDLE SCHOOL students still managed to learn naughty things in English. So yes, she has had PLENTY of opportunities to learn the naughty bits of English. I taught college age international students in the US for almost 12 years, and even my lowest level students still picked up on that stuff really quickly, and they were around her age or younger.

I think the jumping ban may have something to do with the fact that they seem to have a much larger female audience than they did in the past. When I went to see Ayaya back in 2003, virtually the ENTIRE audience was male. My friend and I were two of a very small handful of women in the audience. Wota in the past got rather... over-enthusiastic in their cheering and jumping, sometimes bouncing off one another. So I'm guessing that the jumping ban is in place to protect the larger female audience from the over-zealous male audience. But, I thought the official ban starts next year? Are people just adhering to it early?

I REALLY enjoyed seeing the new girls. They fit right in and don't seem to have as much of that "new girl nervousness" that most gens have tended to have.
