H!P Menu for SE Phones

15 May 2008 - 06:18 PM

Okay I lied. Right now I've only got the Reina menu I'm currently using on my own phone. But designing the menus are about as easy as making your own avatars and sigs, so maybe those interested could fill this thread with their own menu designs eh? The only thing technical about it is transferring the files over to your phone and configuring the menu.ml...which I'll explain in a bit here.

This is what my menu looks like now (frequenters of the Reina thread might recognize these pics XD).

So if you happen to have a Sony Ericsson phone and are prepared to hack your menu to look like that (or anything else you fancy really), then read on!

Disclaimer: Realize that by doing this to your Sony Ericsson phone, you'll be voiding whatever warranty you still have for it since this is practically a menu hack. Also, I can't be responsible for any damages. Do this at your own risk. Still, if you follow my instructions carefully, everything should be fine.

Extra note: With the menu.ml file I included in the Reina Revolution 07 Menu.zip, your phone might report an error whenever you try to access the menu once every time after you turn on your phone or after you connect it to a USB port. As far as I know, I've yet to experience any actual problems. Just giving you a heads-up about it so that you don't panic when you see the error message.

1. Find a backup menu.ml
With the current version of XS++, it's not possible to backup the default menu.ml on your phone to your own drive. So your best bet is to google up a menu.ml for your respective phone model (they're not all necessarily the same). This is just a safety precaution in case you mess up or you want your old menu back.

2. Install SEMC USB Flash Driver
-This is so your computer can connect and transfer files to your phone. Follow the instructions in the link.

3. Install KD Player, VideoManiac, Opera Mini on your phone
-These are in my opinion, the best applications you can have to replace the default phone ones. If you're using my Reina menu, you have to have these apps installed because it's already coded to access them direct from the menu instead of the default stuff. I'll tell you how to do some simple edits to the menu.ml file yourself in a later update, in case for some reason, you would rather stick to the default apps. (Also, PlayNow on the menu has been replaced by the video player.)

4. Install XS++
-This is the program you're gonna use to transfer the files to your phone. There are other programs you could check out, but this is the only one I'm familiar with at this moment.

5. Using XS++
-Switch off your phone.
-Start up XS++.
-Once it's ready, click on 'Connect'. Hold the C button on your phone while plugging it in to the USB port. You have 30 seconds. (Don't panic, that's plenty of time lol.)
-Keep holding the C button till it recognizes your phone and says the connection is a success. Release the C button. (Caution: Make sure your phone stays connected to the computer during the entire operation. Needless to say, disconnecting it before everything is over might result in screwing up your phone.)
-Click on the radio button marked FSX. The program menu will expand showing some new options. Click on Start FSX.
-Wait. This might take a while. You'll see a list of folders start to appear on the 1st screen on the right side.
-Once it says it's done, navigate your way to tpa\preset\system\menu. You'll see a file called 'menu.ml' on the 2nd screen.
-Open the folder in your computer containing your new menu.ml and image files. Just drag and drop them straight onto the 2nd screen. It'll instantly replace the old menu.ml.
-Once it's done transferring, click on Shutdown.
-The menu will narrow down and it'll ask you to disconnect your phone. Do so, and close the program.
-Turn on your phone and check out your new menu.

Taiko no Tatsujin

Me and my sis was at this arcade today cuz she wanted to find this one Taiko Drum Master game that had an Orange Range song on it. Well we found one, but it wasn't the right one (apparently there was ANOTHER arcade in the same mall with a different numbered version :P).

But to my delight, I recognized a few H!P songs on the one we found: Do it! Now, Minimoni Telephone Rin Rin Rin, Yeah! Meccha Holiday... <3

Has anyone played them before? (I believe there's a PS2 version, but I checked that one and it only had all Western songs)

Which music player do you use?

I'm guessing there's gonna be a majority of WMP users out there. As for me, I switched back and forth between WMP and Winamp a couple of times before I got too exasperated with WMP's RAM-hogging habits. Currently, I'm a foobar2000 user.^^;
