Takahashi Niigaki Kamei Sayumi Tanaka Kusumi Mitsui Junjun Linlin

It was a normal day. Simple, go to school, do my homework, and then go to sleep. Eat in between if you want. I often found myself skipping out in between some meals. Never thought it was a problem. High school is more pressure then it is put on about. It sucks when you have no friends either…

I was your normal middle school student. I had a healthy amount of friends. I lived closer to the city then anyone but I was still in my middle school jurisdiction. But then they changed the school boards. And here I am at Up Front academy for girls. It was way different than my middle school. For one there were no boys.

All the girls here are inner city; skirts way shorter than mine with gaudy accessories all around the school. In my class there were only 15 girls. Apparently I was above the norm when it came to common knowledge so I was placed in this class. The classroom president was this girl named Takahashi. She seemed nice and looked the most out of place in school, until I came apparently.

Her best friend was a girl named Niigaki. She always had extreme nail art and wore a bit too much eye make up for my liking. But she seemed nice and smiled at me once. Another girl who hung around them is a chick named Kamei. I always wonder if she was high. She would come to class and sleep yet had the some of the highest scores in the class. And when she was awake she was always eating and obnoxiously loud.

The girl who sat next to me was overly hyper and talked too much. Her name is Koharu. She was friendly enough but I think I made her mad by not responding to her much. Koharu introduced me to her other friends who were exchange students, Junjun and Linlin. It was like ’Freak the Might’ with these two. Linlin was so small that she easily hid behind the height of Junjun. They were both very friendly and Linlin and I have seemed to have bonded a bit.

The non verbal communication was something I had never noticed between us until recently. If I would look around for things she would shift her direction to what I needed. I didn’t get how she would do it. But after every time she would giggle. I just thought she was slow or something.

“Hey, new girl. Get out of my way!”

This was normal. Tanaka Reina was the bully of the school. She popped her gum as she walked past with her slave Sayumi. Sayumi didn’t talk to anyone but Kamei, Niigaki, Takahashi, and Reina. I tried a few times but she just blew me off. I didn’t think much of it. I wasn’t really that social, so I figured she wasn’t either. The other people in class didn’t interest me as much as these 8.

It had been like this for about a month. I would come in, sit and work, go home and do homework, take a bath then sleep. It was a cycle as old as time to me. That was until the one day…

Walking into class as normal the tension seemed high that day, as if I shouldn’t have come. Even the very loose Kamei seemed to be on edge that day. “Ne, Koharu is something wrong?” I asked in a small voice. I could feel the eyes of Linlin on me.

The feel of tension did not fall that day. Everyone seemed on edge. When my pencil fell off my desk Junjun jumped up and faced me like I attacked her. “Uh, Gomen ne” I apologized leaning over to pick it up. The day went on in silence which was strange for the abnormally loud room. After the bell rang Kamei, Niigaki, and Takahashi scrambled for the door.

“Ne, Mitsui are you doing anything after school?” Koharu asked, the first time talked today. “Umm no, I just have a little homework.” I answered placing my math book in my bag. “Great! Could you meet me behind the gym after club activities?” she asked with a big smile. “Umm sure, even though I’m not in any clubs…” I mumbled as she walked past me and out the door.

“I won’t go if I were you.” *pop*

Reina was filing her nails as Sayumi at quietly in her seat next to Reina. “Why not?” I asked turning to face her. “You could tell there was something wrong right? And yet you still choose to stay here?” she asked staring straight into my eyes. For a moment they looked cat like but I shook it off. “Do you know what’s going on?” I asked taking a step closer. Sayumi’s head rose as I moved. “Of course I do. You know what kind of-“

“Reina!” Sayumi cut her off standing. “This girl has had a surgery recently on for acute appendicitis. She doesn’t wear heels because of it. She has sensitivity to heat and has a good memory. For some reason she lives alone in an apartment around the school.” Sayumi mumbled in a quick monotone voice. “How did you know that?” I asked, my voice cracking a bit. “I noticed it when you walk into to class your shoes have uneven heels as you cut off the bottoms. Also you sweat a lot in class while I notice the gravel in your shoes is only found around the apartments approximately 1.2 miles away from the school.” Sayumi answered in the same monotone voice.

It was true that I had surgery last year for acute appendicitis. But nobody knew that. Were they spying on me? And what was Reina talking about? So many questions were filling up my head.

“She’s so confused. It’s funny.” Linlin’s voice came from behind me. “She thinks we are spying on her.” Linlin laughed and Junjun followed behind her as turned to watch them. Reina smirked, looking my way.

“Do you believe in demons?”

The story:
Sawako Kuronuma, called Sadako by her classmates for her resemblance to the character from Ring, has always been feared and misunderstood because of her appearance. There are rumors that Sawako can see ghosts and curse people. But when her idol, popular boy Kazehaya, begins talking with her, everything changes. She finds herself in a new world, trying to make friends and talking to different people and she can't thank Kazehaya enough for giving her these opportunities. Slowly, but surely, a sweet love is blossoming between the two as they will overtake any circumstance or clear obstacles in their way

My thoughts:
This story is amazing, it's your slice of life story with a few funny and sweet things. Not much has been translated lately but it's a very good story with good emotions. There was suppose to be a Drama about it but that really never played out but the anime has an official site ( http://www.ntv.co.jp/kiminitodoke/ ), should be coming out this fall season. Looking forward to it.
