Akimoto isn't wasting any money at all. He is getting paid for official usage of his current idol concept, the 48 groups. For there to be a foreign 48 group in the first place, it has to be accepted by AKS etc., and its standards must adhere to Akimoto's concept and philosophy. The only thing he may be wasting, is time and energy, as he will necessarily have to be involved somehow, and I honestly don't care at all about any of the foreign 48 groups, and think he should instead be spending time and energy on the Japanese 48 groups, and here there's just too much to mention. So yeah, he makes money on this.

im from Manila, and i could say, this wont work here. but im very excited for this. if i am wrong and MNL48 would do great, they could change the long stagnant type of filipino music which is full of Ballads and Alternative Rock.

I agree with you but I'm leaning more on the "it will work here" side. I've made some of my friends here in the Philippines who are into k-pop or who aren't really familiar with j-pop listen to some AKB songs and they ended up to be more obsessed with AKB than I am(lol).

I think the "it'll work part" will heavily depend on the publicity they'll be doing for the girls. If they aren't properly publicized, Akimoto-san will waste money on MNL48.

I can't wait for MNL48 to be formed, but will they do Filipino or English songs? Will they do both? @_@

Takamina's graduation concert just finished. Even tho her graduation was dragged into several dates already, I still can't help but feel really sad. I'll miss her fail so bad. :'(

 

 

 

In my case, I think their best days were the times they were still doing the school uniform gimmick. Their music back then was the most powerful(for me) and what I liked the most. Their songs when they switched to their current gimmick were still good, but not as good as their songs back then.

Completely agree with that. Temptation Box is my favourite album of theirs

 

I thought Hello World was their best. Queens are trumps was great too. I thought Tempation Box was OK.

 

I wasn't crazy about any of the singles they did after Hello World, but was surprised that I liked Yellow as much as I did. It seems like Haruna and Tomomi used to share lead vocals, but on this one it seems like one singer does the whole song. And Tomomi only has one lead. Also, I can't tell if Mami sings any of the leads, like maybe Morning Sun?

 

Honestly I haven't heard enough of Hello World to judge, but the songs I did hear, I liked, but I still prefer the old style

But I do think it's good they're changing into a style they like c: I don't dislike them now, I still love them (and Mami's hair)

 

Well, no matter what happens or what era you like, what's important for me is that I love Scandal.

P.S. About the Yellow album, I got amused by "LOVE". The reggae feels new and surprisingly soothing
