Finally finally a J=J release event i can make :w00t: I can see Inabaccho again after 4 long years!!!
The unfortunate thing is I land 8/13 so I just miss the performances on 8/13. Which means this 8/14 addition is peeerffeecctt timing! THANK YOU SUTAFU NO MINNA-SAN!

Now just how to balance the J=J mini-lives (Inabacchoooooooooo) with the Roppongi Summer Station/Ai-Odoru Sai event on the same day that I had won a chuusen for already...

In Topic: American Chika Idol Scene

19 June 2019 - 12:19 AM

Thanks for this thread, really informative! I'm from Canada so I think I'll start filling in on what's going on up here :good: Canada has a pretty lively scene with chika-idol style groups which developed in the last 3 or so years, Vancouver and Toronto having the most prominent scenes.

---

In Vancouver, British Columbia (my home city), Seishun Youth Academy is a pretty big deal. They have ties to Japanese group Seishun Gakuen, meaning they are one of the only overseas idol sister groups in existence, outside of the 48G groups. They perform Gakuen content but also have original content in both English and Japanese. Apart from having a strong fanbase at home and throughout NA (with an official fanclub), they will be doing some travelling lives this year at Anime Expo (announced) and in Japan (pending, fundraising effort ongoing).

There is one other group operating a fanclub in Vancouver and having original content (ShootingStar Idols), and a group called Zeus (although more centered on covers/odottemita) is putting together a solo live event this weekend in Vancouver. They will be the fourth local group to do so, which just underscores how big the fan scene is here.

In Toronto, Ontario, many groups have risen to fame with large fan followings.

ACT102, the maid idol group that was previously based in the Uncle Tetsu's Angel Cafe, now operates independently and almost entirely supported by their fans. They operate one of the largest fanclubs with original merch among perks and, from my observation, have one of the largest fan communities backing them. They are centered on covers/odottemita, but recently are singing many of their songs. They have a solo live event this weekend as well, and appear at many Toronto events. This summer they will also be travelling to Vancouver, with a guest appearance at Anirevo Summer.

Pastel Toronto is a trio that also had some performance history at Uncle Tetsu's Angel Cafe, and has a fanclub like ACT in which fans are termed Paladins. The three members are all Japanese. They've released one original CD and have more original content coming. Aside from doing major TO events, they are street performers, regularly appearing at the corner of Yonge and Dundas every Friday at 7PM Eastern.

I also want to give a shoutout to 1, 2, Shine as this ex-LL cover group has really diversified into covering more of J-POP (includig Hello! Project songs) lately!

In Quebec, I'm not aware of any chika-idol groups, but I'm sure most people here are aware of Ice Qream, which is an H!P cover group!

In Calgary, Alberta, Mu'sica - a formerly LL centered group - have diversified and now perform various J-POP content!

All of this Manakan news is giving me euphoric feelings, like.... since the announcement I have felt unusually good from the time I wake up in the morning to getting home at night. Even the word 'happiness' might be an understatement, I've been reading the comments on her Ameba and looks like many share the same feelings

2nd year high school Uta is still so cute!

More than anything, I am happy to see her smiling  :good:
