Topics I've Started

Playstation 4

10 April 2017 - 03:10 AM

The PlayStation 4 (abbreviated as PS4) is a home video game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. Announced as the successor to the PlayStation 3 during a press conference on February 20, 2013, it was launched on November 15 in North America, November 29 in Europe, South America and Australia, and February 22, 2014, in Japan. It competes with Nintendo's Wii U and Microsoft's Xbox One, as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles.

It felt wrong to just ask for good games and not do an intro. I wanted to know about the good games since the PS4 is coming back to me this week. A small review would be helpful!

I've played so far

Final Fantasy XV / World of FF (reviews about it in the FF thread, but both are great if you are a fan of the series)

The Last Guardian

Well, this game...if you played Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and you loved them, then you've probably been waiting for this for ages. Expected to have it for PS3 even. It's a good story, similar to Ico just replacing the girl with a beast. Graphics are also pretty similar. Controls are a bit bitchy. This game would have worked better for PS3 and just after the hype Shadow of the Colossus brought tbh.

Also Tomb Raider and Uncharted, both really similar to the previous games, though I haven't played them fully.

I'm thinking on buying Horizon Zero Dawn (if anybody has played it I'd love a small review), and my inner child wants one of the Digimon games (probably Next Order since I love the pet raising system the DW for PS has).

Orange Is the New Black

24 July 2016 - 07:52 PM

The series revolves around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman in her 30s living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum-security women's federal prison (operated by the "Federal Department of Corrections", a fictional version of the Federal Bureau of Prisons) in upstate New York. Piper had been convicted of transporting a suitcase full of drug money for her girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), an international drug smuggler. The offense had occurred 10 years prior to the start of the series and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York's upper middle class, so her sudden and unexpected indictment seriously disrupts her relationships with her fiancé, family and friends.

Orange Is the New Black has received critical acclaim, particularly praised for humanizing prisoners and for its depiction of race, sexuality, gender and body types.

It's currently 4 seasons (finished it yesterday), but has been renewed  for a fifth, sixth and seventh seasons. Which I'm super happy about.

Now I started this having little faith it was that good but I was so wrong. The trama is engaging and the characters are easy to love and hate and in betweens, and damn everyone's acting is so so good. I especially like Samira, Taylor and Danielle.

My #1 is Poussey (I feel she's everyone's fave but I didn't know this lol), but I also really like Piper and Watson as 2nds, and then following Taystee, Gloria and somehow Gina (we know so little about her but there's something that makes me like her lol).

I can't stand Leanne and Angie is her pal's name right, I never think they are funny tbh. Daya is also pretty meh, and her whole plot was just...idk.

Now to SPOILERS

I already knew what was coming because a friend fing spoiled it for me (she didn't say it but her rare name + a crying emoji in a whatsapp group makes it pretty obvious), but it didn't make the ending to S4 less sadder, and I had hopes I was overreacting. I can't imagine OITNB without her. Though she became a lot more tame with Soso, a relationship I so wanted to happen in S3. Then she got love, work, I knew it was coming. Makes me a bit bitter towards Suzanne the most.

Taystee's outburts, when she says "they didn't even say her name" damnnn that was such a great, heartbreaking scene. Very powerful, I also liked the stand on the table scene, that union at last. Then I really like Watson if she is bitter faced most of the time, but was so happy she got to punch that girl, the way in which she said "what did you say" + punch was so effective.

Piper, I didn't know she was that hated lol. I really like her character, still, and I thought S1 and 2 Piper was really fun to watch. Dogget really deserved that. S4 Pipes was a bit of a mess, trying to act tough and all. Still the branding scene, made me nervous.

Lolly's situation was heartbreaking, maybe because I knew Poussey's thing was coming, that I cried more when she starts screaming inside Psych for Mr. Healy.

Anyway, things went from Mendez to something bigger in a proper pace, it's such a good series. It touches sooo much topics, many that are so important. And women of all types and sizes is refreshing, not all pretty, not all good.

------

I would write more but maybe it'll end in an empty topic so I'll leave it there lol.

Macross has always been an idol-y franchise but it's so so idoly this time. I haven't started a new anime for some time now, and I admit I wasn't as hooked with the first episode until they sing the last song, and Freyja's involvement. Ikenai Borderline is really cool. I also like the idol girls saving everyone while singing (former Mermaid Melody PPP fan) but those weird holograms dancing were so off. The CG battles were horrible.

As for the characters, I thought I'd like Freyja since I liked Ranka the most last time in Frontier, but she's a bit too much. I do hope she ends up with Hayate, no matter who the other girl is, for reasons. I kinda dislike the heart thing she has in her hair, as far as the design goes, but super curious about what that heart anthena actually is. Mikumo and Kaname are the ones that caught my eye as interesting characters, and I like Hayate's design, I hated Alto's. Also why is Mikumo the only one with gorgeous magical hair while the other stay ordinary even when transforming.

Anyway, I love love triangles and idol songs, so even if I do have some meh reactions about the first episode, since I adore Macross Frontier I want to watch this til the end. I expect so many songs considering how many singers they are this time, and all seem to have such good voices.

so good <3

Digimon

13 March 2016 - 06:25 PM

(デジモン Dejimon, branded as Digimon: Digital Monsters, stylized as DIGIMON), short for "Digital Monsters" (デジタルモンスターDejitaru Monsutā), is a Japanese media franchise encompassing virtual pet toys, animemangavideo gamesfilms and a trading card game. The franchise focuses on Digimon creatures, which are monsters living in a "Digital World", a parallel universe that originated from Earth's various communication networks. In many incarnations, Digimon are raised by humans called "Digidestined" or "Tamers", and they team up to defeat evil Digimon and human villains who are trying to destroy the fabric of the Digital world.

No Digimon Thread? Well considering we have up to 2017 for the other Tri OVAs this could have some life span.

Anyway, my fave seasons are Adventure and Tamers. I also liked 02 but it's something I should re-watch, at that time I couldn't get into the new kids. The Latin dub for this series as a whole is awesome, but I think the 02 new kids might have suffered from some lame voices. Savers was also pretty good, I loved that Agumon.

My fave kids are Yamato and Takato. And Digimon Gabumon, Gomamon and Guilmon ofc. Then I have other Digimon faves but as main characters, those I guess. I mostly got to love them from the games haha.

Xross was a mess, couldn't even finish it, and Frontier well, I wasn't big in them changing into Digimon, but it was a nice effort.

So going back to Tri, I'm glad the second chapter focused on Gomamon/Joe because to me, their relationship is one of the best. Patamon/Takeru and Palmon/Mimi are also really strong. It made me want to re-watch the whole series.

The poster for Tri, thanks to RoxasXIII

Hmm it's interesting Patamon isn't in his evolved form, I would bet he doesn't evolve in this one (and somehow goes away like in the trailer, but I wonder why), and does so with Tailmon as per usual. It would be a nice change instead of two mega evolutions per chapter until the final battle.

flumpool is a four-man Japanese pop-rock band. The band, originally from Osaka Prefecture, was formed in January 2007. The band's name is derived from the English word "four", since there are four members, they took the first letter "F", along with the word meaning mass, "lump" and the word "pool".

Their debut mini-album (though its length is over 48 minutes), Unreal was released on November 10, 2008. Unreal served Platinum certification from the RIAJ for its shipment of 250,000 copies.

I love them. Their lyrics are great and their tunes really nice to the ears. I love Ryuta's voice and face, he wasn't as good at first but you can compare labo and labo Re format, such an improvement! Some songs are pretty similar, but that tends to happen in a band I think. I recommend Believer's High, 36°, labo Re format and Akashi to get hooked. I'm happy things are working for them tbh!

Their last single Yoru wa Nemureru kai? , opening for Ajin (anime). Liking it.
