*~Hello!Online Secret Santa 2020~*

13 November 2020 - 07:12 PM

Hello!Online Secret Santa 2020

WoeOoIT.jpg

Welcome one and all to the end of the collective worst year in recent memory!

To celebrate the close of the year and to give the community a fun distraction from any and everything that may be going on in our lives, Hello!Online will be hosting a virtual Secret Santa gift exchange for our users.

What is Secret Santa?

Secret Santa is a gift-giving game that originated in the Western Hemisphere. All participants are given the name of one other person, the name selected at random, and they are to provide a gift for that person and that person only. The name selection is also secret, so you will only know who you are giving a gift to, not who you will receive a gift from. Names are revealed once gifts are exchanged so that you can thank your Secret Santa!

Note:

Although the game and name originate in the Christian tradition of Christmas, this is a secular game. Santa belongs to no single religion and this event is not intended to isolate or exclude any other winter holiday tradition.

All are welcome to participate no matter what winter holiday you do or do not celebrate!

What gifts are we swapping on Hello!Online?

Because this is an online community, we will not be exchanging material gifts. No real names will be used, no addresses will be needed, and no money will be spent. Instead, we will be exchanging heartfelt gifts using our own individual talents: graphics for profile pages or avatar sets, fan art of favorite idols, nice letters about the other person, fan-fiction, homemade cards, poems, etc. As long as it comes from the heart, not your wallet, and can be sent digitally, it works.

Please keep all submissions G-rated, no matter what you send.

(I don't know if that needs to be said but I said it just in case some of you are feeling freaky)

How do I join?

Simple!

Fill out the form below in a PRIVATE MESSAGE to yours truly (Lurkette). The information you provide will only be shared with me and the person assigned to be your Secret Santa.

Once the deadline for entries has passed, I will be assigning everyone another user who they will be getting a gift for. This will be communicated to you via the same PM you started with me. You will then have until the deadline for gifting to send your gift (either a link or posted directly in the PM, depending on what you want to give) DIRECTLY TO ME.

I will be collecting all the gifts for everyone and then distributing them, along with your name. This is so that everyone receives their gifts at the same time.

Anything else you want your Secret Santa to know:

What are the rules I should know?

Here are all the rules. They will keep everything fun and light for you and easy for me.

  • You sign up for this event by sending the questionnaire above to me (Lurkette) via private message. I will remove any surveys that are posted in the thread.
  • Everyone will receive their assigned user to give a gift to on the same day, and it will be given in the same PM you sent to me.
  • You will provide your gift submission in the same PM, as well. This will allow me to make sure your gift is appropriate and working properly, if that is called into question.
  • Everyone will receive their gift from their Secret Santa on the same day. I will send it via the same PM, but I will provide the username of the person who gave you the gift so that you can thank them personally.
  • You do not have to fill out every question in the form, but the more information you can provide, the easier it will be for your Secret Santa to decide what to do for you.
  • Do not tell anyone who you are giving a gift to until the names have been revealed to everyone. It's less fun that way.
  • Do not spend money on your gift. No gift cards, no Cameos, no anything that requires you to spend money.
  • If you sign up but change your mind about participating, please let me know as soon as possible. It's not fair to the person you're supposed to give a gift to if you want until the last few days to decide you're not getting them anything.
  • General questions can be asked in the thread, and you're more than welcome to share your gifts and thank your Santas here, as well. If you have a more specific question about who you're buying for or you just don't want to ask publicly, use the PM.

DEADLINES & DATES

Please sign up for the event by December 5, 2020.

Please submit your gift to me by December 20, 2020.

Santas will be randomly assigned on December 6, 2020.

Gifts will be distributed on December 21, 2020.

Happy holidays!

Japanese Translation Requests [Open]

08 June 2020 - 09:02 PM

In the interest of having a more central location where people can ask me for translations, I'm opening up a thread. Since the population of the forum is pretty low, I will be translating all requests on a rolling basis: I will do them in the order I get them. I reserve the right to change this at any time to better suit my schedule. I can't promise a firm timeline on when translations will be completed, but generally I will finish within two weeks, depending on my personal workload and the length of the item being translated. All Japanese media is accepted; it does not have to be something related to H!P.

Items you can request:
  • Blog entries
  • Song lyrics
  • News articles
  • Op-eds
  • Interviews
  • Audio or video under 5 minutes in length -- For this option, I can either provide a summary of the contents or I can do a line-by-line translation. Line by line will take much longer. I will not create subtitles or provide timestamps, only provide a transcript. Anything over 5 minutes will be summarized, split into separate parts as needed.
  • Other: I will consider translating 2ch threads, as long as it is via a matome site. Other materials, whatever they may be, will be judged on a case by case basis.

Rules:
  • Please make one request at a time. This is so that everyone has a fair chance at getting things translated. Once I have completed your request, you may make another, regardless of whether or not anyone else has made a request.
  • I will notify you via the thread that I am working on your request.
  • I reserve the right to refuse any request for any reason.
  • I will respond on this thread when I have finished a translation with a link, so please watch this topic so that you don't miss a response to your request.
  • All translations will originally be posted in a blog entry on Hello!Online, but I reserve the right to repost my own translations where I like.
  • You are welcome to link to the translation or repost the translations elsewhere, but please, please, please, ALWAYS give me credit. I am doing this as a free service to the community that has taken good care of me, but my name and reputation are everything. Please respect me and my work and always apply credit wherever you share the translation.
  • Understand that my preferred translation style is not literal. Translations will not be word-for-word. I work very hard to get to the essence of what is being said, even if that means I alter the actual words to be different from the original Japanese dictionary definitions. This is a common way of translating but I know not everyone likes it, so just keep that in mind.
  • I am human and prone to mistakes. If you see a mistake or something confusing, please point it out to me and I will fix it. Be patient. This can be hard sometimes.
  • If you would like to make a request privately, you may send me a PM with the details. Private requests will be done whenever the public queue is empty.
  • Questions about your translation can be asked either here or in a PM. I check the site several times a day so I'm generally available, even if you just want to chat.
  • If in the case H!O becomes unavailable, I can be reached on aidoru-online by the same username. I also have an inactive tumblr account that I only really use for messaging people. I'm not very social as far as social media goes, sorry, but I will always try to get things to you

I think that's it. Wheeeeee.

Iginari Touhoku San (いぎなり東北産)

25 May 2017 - 10:49 PM

Iginari Touhoku San, formerly Nidaime Iginari Touhoku San, is an idol unit from Stardust Promotions, Sendai division. Their official name in English is Made In Touhoku.

25ln9c2.jpg

Originating as a rehearsal group for the residential Sendai Stardust girls, they formed in August of 2015, and loosely participated in different events for the major Stardust idols alongside other regional rehearsal groups. They added the Nidaime when Karen was added in 2015, and removed it in the fall of 2016. At the beginning of 2017, they participated in the event "Ore no Next Girls~Mochiron Fujii~Naruhodo Club eX" in competition with the other small-time Stardust idol units (3BJr, Sakura Ebi~s, regional rehearsal groups, etc.). They came in first place by audience vote, and were given the opportunity to perform with some of the big-time Stardust idols at Stellar Ball. After this point, they started a faux feud with trainee group Sakura Ebi~s, doing joint lives together, and they released a joint song, "Mugen Kageki." They also began selling CDs of their first original songs, "Tenka Ippin~Michinoku Kakumei~" and "Wonderful Touhoku" at live events. They appeared at TIF for the first time last year, and will be there again this year, as well as several other idol festivals, and will continue doing solo events, doing joint events with Sakura Ebi~s, and participating as support for bigger Stardust idols.

They often split up when they make appearances in different parts of the country, so you won't always see 9 (or 8) members all at the same performance. They also have more generations on reserve back in Sendai (Sandaime and Yondaime), although at this point it is unclear if they will add them to the group eventually or if they will just keep them as permanent training groups as they push the main group to become a more formal Stardust idol unit.

The colors don't mean too much currently, or at least not as much as they do in other Stardust groups. When asked about official colors before announcing them, they said that they were more focused on the name bibs rather than the colors, and they do wear bibs for most every appearance so they're a bit easier to recognize by name.

Mugen Kageki MV

Tenka Ippin Live

Ordinarily I would wait until a group gets a debut before starting a thread, but these girls have an awful lot of hype around them right now, even though they're still not really considered part of the Section 3 Idol group yet. In any case, this will give people a place to learn about them and hopefully keep up with their activities.

There is also a very dedicated fan who uploads tons of videos here, collected from Twitter, livestreams, TV, etc.

B.O.L.T. (fka Rock A Japonica/ロッカジャポニカ)

19 August 2016 - 05:08 AM

bolt_visual.jpg

B.O.L.T. is a unit formed under the Stardust Planet idol management unit of the Stardust Promotions agency. The unit was originally formed from the 3BJr pool of idols as the "King Records Unit," a group that was formed to pursue a major debut under King Records. The 5-member unit was eventually named Rock A Japonica and debuted under Evil Line Records, a division of King Records that is also home to Stardust's flagship idol unit, Momoiro Clover Z. The group released 5 formal singles and 1 album and was characterized by rotating centers for different songs and member associations with specific themes like school subjects or musical genres, as opposed to colors.

After the release of their 5th single Mugen in 2019, member Shiina Ruka decided to withdraw from the group after an extended hiatus for health reasons. Additionally, member and leader Uchiyama Ami announced her decision to also leave the group. The remaining three members, Naito Luna, Takai Chiho, and Hirase Misato, decided to continue pursuing their dreams as idols and worked on solo activities for a few months until reforming in July 2019 as B.O.L.T. with two new members, Aoyama Nanoha and Shirahama Aya. B.O.L.T. debuted at Evil Line Records 5th Anniversary Fest "Evil A Live" with the song "Ame ga Furu Machi," written for them by HAWAIIAN6 member Yasuno Yuta.

Their website is still under construction as of 2019-07-16, so the profiles are a combination of the old Rock A Japonica profiles and the Stardust Promotions agency profiles.Tentative official website is here.

BiSH (Brand-new Idol SHiT)

22 August 2015 - 09:57 PM

Advertised as one more round of BiS, the knockoff, the rebirth, etc., BiSH is the product of original BiS manager Watanabe Junnosuke and producer Matsukuma Kenta. The group was formed at the beginning of 2015 and has released two albums.

slide1.jpg

The group was originally founded with 5, but Yukako Love Deluxe quit the group early in its existence due to "overthinking." Her vocals remain on the recording of "Spark" for their first album, although it was re-recorded as Spark '16 for their second album. Two new members were added in August of the same year. They were described as sub-members pending full membership until they reached 5000 followers on Twitter, which they did. They made their music debut in the single OTNK, and their performance debut was at their Zepp Tokyo show on August 26, 2015 (attendance to the show was also free with a 2015 2-day wristband from Tokyo Idol Festival, from which BiSH were banned for overzealous fan behavior, although they were re-invited in 2016).

They announced their major debut under avex trax January 19, 2016. Hug Me, a founding member, graduated from the group in June, 2016. Auditions were held to replace her, leading to the admission of new member Ayuni D.

As was the case with BiS, the members contribute heavily to their lyrics and are responsible for their own choreography. From the album, "Is this call??" was written by Aina, "SCHOOL GIRLS, BANG BANG" and "Story Brighter" were written by Chicchi, "HUG ME" was written by Hug Me, and "DA DANCE!!" and "Pira Piro" were written by Momoko. "MONSTERS," "TOUMIN SHOUJO," and "Lonely Girl" were written Yukako.
