And I use Itunes DJ as a sort of shuffle thing.
I used to use winamp a lot but now I'm just too lazy to install it.

One thing I tried to do with iTunes recently is put in album artwork. The way it handles artwork is stupid! So I gave up That's my biggest complaint about iTunes

I've tried Winamp, which I think is much better. I don't know why I think so, but, I just do

For lone music files, or video files, I use Media Player Classic Homecinema + ffdshow tryouts + Reclock for WASAPI bit-perfect playback.

Winamp Lite - 5 meg memory use while playing music
WMP 11 - 50 meg memory use while playing music
iTunes can suck huge hairy donkey balls. It will never touch my system. It was a big enough pain having to clean up the mess it left last time it was on there. I don't know if they still bundle Quicktime with it also. Another crap Apple program.

I have Winamp installed in order to transfer music to my Zen Vision M because the Creative software is also bloated. It doesn't quite meet my needs as a music player though because I am extremely fussy and require bit-perfect playback, but that wouldn't matter for most people.

It's possible to get bit-perfect to run through WMP, but I hear it's a pain to get setup and many ppl fail at doing it. I don't bother, as my sound setup isn't all that great anyways. I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS, a pair of JVC mini stereo systems, and a powered subwoofer. 4.1, good enough for me.

Bit-perfect makes my onboard IDT/Sigmatel laptop sound chipset actually sound decent, it's a bit of a lifesaver.
