Well, right now i have a ATI tv wonder ve and it works fairly well.
The default program only cap's up to 640x240 (which is absolutely terrible).
But if i use MainConcept MPEG Encoder i can cap up to MPEG2 720x480 @ 9mbit/sec -which is dvd quality.- without any frame droppage
I then use virtual dub mod (since vdub itself dosen't edit mpeg2) to edit what i cap.

If you know where to look you can find the prog. (or pm me if you need)

Though 720x480 is nice, i'm looking to upgrade to something better, like an HDTV tuner, such as
But the ony hd-tuner i can find that is PCIe and not regular pci is this one.
It's only $85, which is nice, espically when the card i have now was $50 itself, but i don't have it personally, so can't really vouch for the quality.

but heck, check newegg, it's always a place to start.

well, hoped that helped.

Or if you have the cash, buy one of those HDD recording devices. Plug it to yer tv, and let it record everything. Then later, do the ripping.. Lol~ doesn't sound easy tho.. XD

Lol, yea. Actually, if i remember correctly, the re-play tv device had the ability to transfer programs between 2 re-play's or a pc natively (no hacks). You can do the same thing with a tivo, but those need to be 'hacked' in order to for you to transfer the video files to a pc.

I don't have a tivo or anything like that myself, so i'm not exacltly sure the whole procedure, but from what i hear it's not all that difficult, just a little technichal.

Nowadays, standalone HDD recorders mostly cannot export the data to pc's without hacking. The easiest way is to get one of those HDD recorders with a DVD burner. This will definitely create something that PCs can easily use :(
