I'm not too sure what'll happen to Morning Musume within the next 77 years, so I'll give out some basic predictions for them should the world not be destroyed at any point before 2097:

  1. Since a number of former Momusu members now have children, I guess that most (if not all) of those kids will audition for future Momusu gens.
  2. Speaking of former Momusu members' children joining future Momusu gens, those kids might have children of their own one day that'll audition for future Momusu gens in turn.

And membership in the merged MoMusu/AKB group will become hereditary - the only way to join the group will be to be born into it.

Buying a CD will not give handshake tickets anymore. They include codes to have a hologram of the girls manifest in your room to have a chat for 5 minutes.

We'll wonder when MM finally visits Mars.

And Oricon still only counts physical sales.

Juice=Juice still hasn't played in the USA.

I don't know if it was discussed here lately, but do we know anything about how much an idol make?

I guess the popular members make more money and that it varies from member to member, but did someone from H!P talked about their income?

I found something from 2014, no clue if this is legit. https://snsd-ffa.liv...com/139109.html

The source of this top 50 list is Exciting Max! Magazine.

These were the rankings of Morning Musume girls in that list

29. Mizuki Fukumura, Morning Musume, $167,790

22. Riho Sayashi, Morning Musume, $236,880

14. Haruka Kudo, Morning Musume, $325,710

7. Sayumi Michishige, Morning Musume, $454,020

^ These are guesses and guesses only. There is no data or a real source to back up these guesses. They are solely based on the amount of work those members performed outside of their activities as part of the group.

But isn't that what makes up most of their earnings?
They have a base salary and added to that is income from photo books, tv/magazine appearances, ads etc.

That is the assumption. However, we do not know any exact facts or figures, and at the time that this was published, a lot of people disputed the figures because Sayumi actually had not done that much more work than the other members, certainly not enough for her income to be competitive with the top 48G members of the time. So while we can guess as to the structure of their earnings, putting exact dollar amounts will only ever be a guess and should never be presented as fact.

It is indeed a very interesting topic. For example in a classic Japanese company your paycheck gets bigger the longer you stay with the group, which is why Mizuki probably earns more than other girls - in basic payment, that is.
Maria is probably the busiest in terms of photo shootings, but magazine work doesn't pay that well. I think the only one who is somewhat regularly on TV is Ayumi - if she still has the deal with that local (Sendai?) channel. TV usually pays better, but it's not like it is a big channel or a big role after all. And then we have Ikuta who has her own label now - not sure how much that brings in, but it's definitely work that gets paid.

^Duu had a photobook that year and was in the Satoyama unit Triplet, while Riho didn't do work like that. But yeah, it's very likely that this assumption is wrong.

It's cultural difference. In Japan, a person will not receive good perception if he/she is chubby (not even fat). I know it's a controversial topic, but it's true that most Japanese are not OK with being chubby. I dare assure you that even with good singing, good dancing, interesting personality on TV shows, Akane-chin still receives complain about weight if she doesn't lose some. Zukki did try to counter that with her interesting personality but what she received was still negative comments about her weight. They associate chubbiness with unhealthiness. It's sad to hear, but most of seem to obsess with being thin, and even skinny (which most Western people never consider healthy at all)

Also, in Japan lots of people relate chubbiness with lack of discipline, and this doesn't fits with his idea of an idol. Probably they didn't see Kanon totally spliting her legs and so showing she was in a great shape like any other member then. :nosebleed:
