It still doesn't feel real to me somehow.
But that with the pinky right there... That was nuts.

I shouldn't have believed her when she was saying she was eternal.
Yeah, that's what keeps coming back to depress me. And not only did she graduate, she full-on retired from the industry completely. No more blogging (which she disliked anyway), no more candid photos with current and former members, no new magazine interviews or fashion shoots, no more TV guest appearances, nothing.
It is her life to live and she is the best judge of what is best for her, but I think that you are correct to feel that a central promise to her Otomomochi has been broken. She should not have (repeatedly) made it in the first place; that was the singular mistake.
But she was (and still is) young, and young people are sometimes overly-optimistic about the future -- which is otherwise healthy, or else no one would ever aspire to anything.
She is not the first oshii I have watched graduate, nor will she be the last, but I have spent over a decade now looking forward to my kami-oshii Granny Momochi still bringing down the house mid-century. Here's hoping Miya and/or Mano at least keep her e-mail address or phone number on hand so she does not drop completely off the face of the earth now that she's a full-time private citizen.
Filing the situation under Mono no Aware is all we can do...

Once she said she will be an idol until 55 years old, probably that's why I was more ready for the graduation.

"A central promise has been broken"? Come on, now. Did people really believe she would be an idol forever? I always took that as a silly, exaggerated, Momochi way of saying she planned to be around for a long time, but as soon as she started university, I knew she would be leaving eventually. Why bother going to university if she just planned on being an idol/staying in showbiz forever? She even said way back in 2010 when she graduated high school she was going to university to become an elementary school teacher. For seven years, her plans have been quite clear.
It's obvious that she loved being an idol because she still carried on even while attending university, doing student teacher programs, and writing a 50 page thesis. She was the first H!P idol to remain an idol even while at university. That must have been incredibly hard work and showed a lot of dedication, both to her future goals and to her fans as an idol. She even stayed another 3 years after graduating from university in 2014, joining Country Girls instead of leaving with the rest of Berryz, I mean she was already a licensed teacher then, but she wanted to be an idol a bit longer.
Honestly, we got three extra years of Momochi than we should have done (seven really, if you factor in the fact that most graduate to start university), and I'm grateful to her for that. But I don't understand why people were so shocked and almost betrayed when she announced she was graduating and retiring to become a teacher, because for seven years she's been very clear that's what she was going to do.

@Bexie: If you’re not an otomomochi, it’s normal that you don’t understand. None of us expected her to be an idol forever, we simply wished her to stay as long as possible, maybe until she turns 26 or 27. I actually wanted her to stay an idol until she turns 26, because a lot of “old” H!P girls graduated around the age of 25.
I wanted her to break this wall.
You know, it’s like you were saying “well, that person was in critical state so they eventually died. Why are you so shocked about it?” (I can use this example because I had to face this case and I’m still facing it. So I exactly know what I’m talking about, unfortunately).
No matter how much you want to be prepared for the announcement, it will always take you by surprise when it drops.
You’re devastated because you kept hoping. You’re devastated because this person was valuable and had an impact on your life, one way or another. You’re devastated because, even if it was bound to happen, you were silly enough to think that it wouldn’t be this month, this day, this hour…
“Honestly” as you said, we all have the right to be shocked, to feel betrayed and to feel like something (someone) is missing. We all invested so much of our time, money, emotions and such in supporting our Peach Princess that when she announced her retirement, when she did retire, some of us felt like “eh. Is it really over?” (Like Airi after °C-ute’s disbandment). We’ll overcome it, but now it’s still too soon (I’m still not over the BerryzLoss so…)
No, I don’t feel grateful for the “extra 3 years” or whatever you said. I feel grateful for the wonderful years she spent making us smile, cringe, laugh, cry. I’m glad for everything she did.
I mean, she really gave us a lot of contents and now, all of a sudden, it’s gone. No blog, no Instagram, no Twitter, no TV appearance, nothing.
It's over.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if no one understands...
I can't live without Berryz!

When I was in Japan this Spring for my birthday I was able to go to her memorial event Day 1 Momo no Tane at the Shinagawa Prince Steller Ball. I was so excited to see her, I was in the front row. I'm pretty sure I saw no other foreigners there. Not awkward, but still kind of awkward. I told a Japanese friend that I went to see Momochi and she was shocked because it was a peaking event. It was still fun to sing the songs and see the dancing live though. Plus some of the clips shown had hiragana so I could actually kind of follow along. Miss Momochi. A lot.

Not one little new about her. I miss her a lot.

We probably won't get any for a very long time, just like with Rii-chan - she took around a year or so to come around in some form. But with Momo, she has no plans of coming back any time soon, so it'll probably be a few years from now at least (like 2-3).
None of the Berryz or C-ute members have mentioned her once since her departure and it's probably something she requested specifically that they don't, because MaiMai left too and they all mention her.
