On June 21 some FC members got to talk to Kumaichan via videophone, each for two minutes (others talked to Captain). When asked about her next casual dinner shows she said she is talking to staff, but so far they are still scheduled for August 1.

Yurina has been appearing on King's Brunch from her home, both live and VTR, with topics like manga, food, and wearing masks. In the preview of next week's show it looks like she will be doing some cooking.

On August 1 and 2 Kumaichan gave total four performances at La Donna. All of the shows were sold out.

To help with social distancing, the Bear Band had only two members this time, on acoustic guitar and grand piano.

One of the performances on Sunday was filmed and the video can be purchased for a viewing on August 22 through PIA Live Stream.

 

Since sales at the venue of her new goods for the shows as well as 2Shot Polaroids were not allowed, everyone received one of these instead. She wore the purple dress at the Saturday shows and the green one on Sunday.

During the MCs she talked about preparing for her FC birthday events next weekend August 8, as well as her MC at H!P Summer COVERS ~The Ballad~  on August 30.

Yurina said that during the stay at home period she wanted to become a blonde (No!  ). She couldn't go to a salon, so at home just to test she only colored her eyebrows, but later changed them back. 

 

And since it is now August 3 in Japan, Happy 27th Birthday, Yurina!

About the three FC birthday events on August 8:

According to Beriwota on SNS, there were the usual games, Question Corner, as well as a special VTR message from Maasa and another VTR made by the staff about her idol years, but there was no mini live. Instead, they watched songs from the DVD of the last Berryz concert. Yurina confessed that she had never watched the DVD, because she thought it would be too difficult. Many of the fans raised their hands that they had also not watched it, although they had been at the Budokan. (I think the last time she mentioned it, Captain had not watched it, either.)

The songs were chosen by lottery, five per event. Kumaichan did a commentary for each one, although sometimes she stopped because she was so absorbed in watching their performances.

Fans noticed she was crying during Towa no Uta, and the staff had to give her tissues.

When Love Together was selected, she admitted it was the only song she had hoped would not be chosen. She said she knew how emotional it would be for her to watch the last song of the concert.

Yurina noted she forgot to sing during part of Icchoume Rock because she was having so much fun dancing with Chinami. Talked about funny moments during the concert, the costumes, the staff worries about the bananas on the mics in Monkey Dance - and her admiration for Miyabi improvising with it during Cha Cha SING, plus shared her thoughts about some of the lyrics, and pointed to Risako singing about "mama" in Massugu na Watashi.

Yurina was interviewed for the newspaper Mainichi Shimbun as part of their "School and Me" series in which "celebrities look back on their school life". 

Among other things she talked about mixing school with idol activities. She said she loved Berryz Kobo, but as her height grew more and more during her high school years, she worried that her size made her unsuited to be an idol, and she even started to stoop sometimes to try to make herself look smaller. Her University days helped her to examine her dreams about the future, she learned to have confidence in herself and also see her height in a different way.

Kumaichan said that during University she spent a month studying abroad in South Korea. I knew she could speak the Korean language, since she has done it in her King's Brunch TV work and also at her FC events, but I didn't know she had actually studied there.

 

Yurina will appear on Brunch this week November 21 to help them pick the best hot springs.

During the MCs Kumaichan displayed the show's mail order goods, talked about her recent Kitson me collaboration, and discussed her love for Kimetsu no Yaiba. She also introduced the dinner show's special cocktail, named Enjoy! Autumn. It was a mix of tea and framboise, with lemon.

As with her shows back in August, for social distancing the band was reduced to only members, on piano and guitar.

Arranger and keyboard/pianist Ryohei Arahata (with glasses) has also worked in Captain's dinner shows. He recently did some work with Airi, PINK CRES., Bitter & Sweet, among others.

Yurina said she was pleased with his arrangements for this show, especially for Kimi no Tomodachi.

Today on King's Brunch Kumaichan was in the studio during the broadcast (rare for her during covid). She also appeared in two VTR reports.

On December 18 Kumaichan appeared on the NHK arts program The Mark of Beauty. The subject was Japan's history of making glass beads. Yurina modeled some haute couture dresses made with thousands of them.

Yurina's three events today-  Kumai Yurina FC Event 2021- Happy New Year! Kumayoro!

 

Kumaichan told the fans to "keep your schedules open for March 3"-   so, an event for the Berryz anniversary. Beriwota who were there are now speculating if (besides Captain, Maasa, and Yurina) Chinami and Miyabi might appear. They are pointing to this tweet by Miya a few weeks ago, when she said she wanted to see the other Berryz members again.

During her talks Yurina demonstrated how to do the dance for Ryuusei Boy, explaining how she remembered  what their dance teacher taught her, including directions on eye contact with other members.

Besides being the Uji City Tourism Ambassador and Tea Ambassador, last week the city's Chamber of Commerce appointed her their COOL CHOICE Promotion Ambassador as well, for local events on the subject of climate change.

I'm not really familiar with the very popular manga/anime Jujutsu Kaisen, but it seems that in a new book the writer/illustrator Gege Akutami says the tall idol character Takada-chan is modeled after Yurina.  Kumai-chan herself has mentioned it on her Insta story with happiness.

According to wiki, in the story the character is said to be "well known in Japan for being one of the tallest idols that exist", height 180cm. 

I get the impression Takada-chan doesn't appear in the story very often, though.
