I'm not from USA or GB so maybe i don't know some slang or this phrase, but i never heard of saying "I ate it" when you fell. Can somebody enlight me? It is just strange... I'm reffering to: Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons - 2002-05-07 - Yaguchi Mari - I ate it

Urban dictionary definition.
When saying eat/ate it the word it is used to replace words like pavement/dirt/crap/etc. It's a term literally meaning to fall in such a way it looks as if one is going to eat the ground or at least that's my interpretation of it. To 'eat it' has also been used enough to where people use it as a general term to fall, stumble or get hurt.
I don't fully agree with Mari and Ayaka using it when Mari clipped her leg on the table and stumbled although it is somewhat correct. In my mind when someone 'eats it' it's more like an outtake from a sporting event, action sports video or action movie or something of that magnitude.
Either way if you watch a lot of Japanese programming you may come across terms either translated or not which sound odd. Even though Ayaka knows English could be her Japanese which comes up with some odd phrases/usage or the Japanese writers.

Oh, I see. Thanks for information. Maybe I'll learn somethong with this dictionary :] It looks like japanese prefer to learn enlish slang... while they should try to learn something more common.
