Mari was a major Idol back in the 70's and 80's when Macross aired in Japan. She recently re-recorded the vocals for the Japanese track of Macross for the Anniversary DVD released a couple of years ago.

* She's put out almost twenty (20) albums and has had a fantastic career.
* She now lives in L.A. and is trying to break into the US market.

I'm curious if she has any other fans here on H!O or not. I was able to see her in concert this past weekend at Tekkoshocon 5 and was seriously impressed.

I loved her songs in original Macross and that was even before my major love towards japanese music started
Anyhow, haven't had her own albums on computer, only stuff on macross soundtracks and such.
But I'm getting a best of album at the moment.

Jim is a really good guy. Glad to see he's got someone equally cool to back him up.

She's great. I live in L.A. and for a while, she was playing a show every six weeks or so...her latest album is really good, but I think all of her stuff sounds way better live, mostly because she's so cool and funny.

Lots of news in Mari world lately. Her new album "Echo" went on sale recently, she's been touring in Japan, and she's written and produced a Macross super-group single called "Iki wo shiteru, kanjiteiru" that's going on sale next month.

Sorry to double post here, but it's been confirmed that Mari will be performing at Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh again this year! She'll be in town April 10-11 with a lot of new material from Echo - she'll be signing autographs, hosting a Q&A, and selling merchandise as well (I picked up the Collage DVD last time and it was really cool to see one of her classic concerts!). She doesn't come to the East Coast often, so those of you who are Macross fans or fans of classic idol pop will certainly want to check this out.
