It sounds like the A1, A2, A3, K1, and K2 audio CD's are cleaned up board recordings of the A1, A2, A3, K1, and K2 videos. So, if you can live without the K3 audio CD, you can save money by only purchasing the AKB48 Starter Kit and then ripping the sound tracks from them.

I didn't see the Starter Kit at HMV either. Had to get the 3 Team A videos separately.

I just started to like AKB48 last week... >_< And Hiichan is the first person who caught my attention... So cute....

HMV here rarely sell jpop group DVDs... like I can't find any MM DVDs there, so I doubt I can find the starter kit too... but maybe i can order them....

hmm, another J-Pop group for me to try out & listen, though i've already got my hands, ears & head full with H!P, YUI, ai Otsuka, mihimaru GT, Namie Amuro, etc.

anyway, the first song I listened from this group is the Seifuku song. nice beat with cool PV.

it's gonna take some time to follow them coz there's just so many of them. i agree that we should not compare them to MM coz their appeal is slightly different. was surprised to hear that they were actually originally (& still are) a theater idol group. even more surprised to hear that they perform every day! poor girls, though they have a different team everyday. yeah, that's another thing i need to get the hang of - the three teams. correct me if i'm wrong, but they've only recently just become 48, right? 16 each in Team A, Team K and Team B?

since i'm still pretty new to AKB48, still don't have a favourite yet and it's hard to judge their talent, since there's just too many of them, and only a select few get to be pushed to the front. but judging by looks alone, hmm, Mayuyu from Team B looks kinda cute

maybe go watch one of their shows, once my wallet lets me!

That's really cool AKB48 is getting more popular, more exposure, and the best thing.... a more diverse audience consisting of Morning Musume and H!P fans. Heh... there's enough AKB48 for everyone to at least like some of it.

BTW, that super cool guy Morning Planet uploaded MPEG-4 samples of the entire Starter Kit here at H!P. All are very watchable. A2 is kind of blocky. But the purchased A2 DVD is also not of the best quality either. Get the A3 show first and check it out. This will turn most people into AKB48 fans.

It's avi and yeah it's poorly encoded... kinda blocky... But you can still watch it...

Yeah, that's it. I refer to anything not in Lossless Quality as a "sample". imo it's OK to download samples and check them out. If you like it, then buy the Full Quality Lossless DVD or CD. Morning Planet's upload was perfect. You could watch it just fine, but it makes you want to run out and purchase the real deal so you can see it at it's best.

Nope. Don't know of Feam. I'm a relative newbie to AKB48 too. But once seeing some vids and stuff, it's very attractive. Way too cute and the all their songs are catchy.
