I think it was announced a few months ago that MM are the biggest selling girl group in Japan or something...
None of SPEED's singles have ever sold before 500,000 copies prior to their breakup

And now for some news....
Eriko Imai, SHOGO separated
Former SPEED member Eriko Imai and 175R vocalist SHOGO are reportedly living in separation, says the latest issue of Josei Seven.
The two apparently had a fight, and it led to Imai leaving the house at the end of last year. She took their two-year-old son and moved to an apartment outside Tokyo.
Imai has recently been busy developing her solo music career (under the name "elly"). Because of her schedule, SHOGO has said that he wants to raise the child, but Imai has refused. It seems that they are trying to avoid a divorce, but the result may be inevitable.
The couple got married in June 2004 when Imai was six months pregnant.
Whoa...didn't see that coming. So whos gonna eat the baby then?

Speed was a legendary girl group back then which was the fact. Of course to be fair MM and HP is something unique in Jpop, whether that was a good thing or not, is up to the individual to discern.

i also spotted an error in wikipedia
it says that the top selling girlgroups is as follows VV
1.Destiny's Child - selling over 100,000,000
2.Spice Girls - selling over 50,000,000
3.TLC - selling over 42,000,000
4.Bananarama - selling over 40,000,000
5.En Vogue - selling over 20,000,000
6.Salt N Pepa - selling over 10,000,000
BUT if Morning Musume's total sales is about 11million, that would make so it would be like this, making salt n pepa #7
1.Destiny's Child - selling over 100,000,000
2.Spice Girls - selling over 50,000,000
3.TLC - selling over 42,000,000
4.Bananarama - selling over 40,000,000
5.En Vogue - selling over 20,000,000
6.Morning Musume - selling over 11,000,000
7.Salt N Pepa - selling over 10,000,000
BUT it is also stated that Morning Musume beat Pink Lady who also sold over 11million but a tiny bit less than morning musume so it would make it like this:
1.Destiny's Child - selling over 100,000,000
2.Spice Girls - selling over 50,000,000
3.TLC - selling over 42,000,000
4.Bananarama - selling over 40,000,000
5.En Vogue - selling over 20,000,000
6.Morning Musume - selling over 11,080,000
7.Pink Lady - selling over 11,030,000
8.Salt N Pepa - selling over 10,000,000
NOW as i earlier posted, SPEED's total album and single sales combined would be over 19million BUT we can assume that Dear Friends 1&2 sold over 500,000 seeing how popular they were, and we can probably add in another 300,000 for the reunion singles, and another 300,000 for their reunion album SO that would help SPEED tie En Vogue making them #5 =] unless we see exact sales for both groups =D. so unless i'm missing any other girl group which i probably am, the official chart should be something like this
1.Destiny's Child - selling over 100,000,000
2.Spice Girls - selling over 50,000,000
3.TLC - selling over 42,000,000
4.Bananarama - selling over 40,000,000
5.SPEED - selling over 20,000,000
5.En Vogue - selling over 20,000,000
7.Morning Musume - selling over 11,080,000
8.Pink Lady - selling over 11,030,000
9.Salt N Pepa - selling over 10,000,000

Thanks! I've noticed that when you always see the lists of things like the best-selling artists, whether it be female/bands/whatever, they're always American, or atleast popular in the American Music market. I know that there ARE Japanese bands that aren't included for some reason. It's like they don't consider bands/groups unless they are known in America. I've seen British and Hispanic and even Irish (U2 and Enya I believe). But they're big in America too.

RANT!!!~~~ k i cant hold this in much longer. omgosh as much as i love speed songs, i'm starting to get sick of them. i'm starting to hate hiro's yelling! i mean i listened to my graduation for the first time and the beginning sounded nice and then all of a sudden hiro starts yellin her but off! i cant stand her voice!!! but i still love go! go! heaven even though she yells in that one too. i think hiro shouldnt sing the powerful parts of the songs, its just not pleasant to the ears... (i love takako though ). and also, i'm always hearing hiro sing... but thats probably just me since eriko was also lead vocalist
Yeah, hiro and Eriko pretty much hogged up most of the songs. It did'nt bother me that much, I just love the songs and how well their voices sounded together. hiro is a good solo artist, I have her first album and two singles. I have more Takako CD's than any other solo SPEED releases. I'm still completing my HITOE collection, she is my most favorite in SPEED for her unique urban style and voice. If you want a good SPEED song with more Taka and HITOE solos, listen to Koketissue Dreamin'.
