I remember reading an interview about this. I even had it translated:

 

When the movie «Morning Cop» finished, Morning Musume and I were doing an event where we showed the movie, had a live, and then had a handshake event. That event was quite painful. When it was my turn to sing, most of the audience wouldn’t stand up but just sit in their seats and some would even go somewhere else. Feeling as though no one had an interest in me was really painful. At the handshake afterwards, some wouldn’t even shake my hand but just pass me by right before my eyes, so I cried every night at the hotel back then.

 

But then at one point, when I was singing «Hitorigurashi» [note: from her debut album, Teenage Dream] there were three people who stood up, despite everyone else sitting down, and sang along. It was then that I realized that there are people out there who knows even songs from my album, and who actually support me, and it moved me a lot. It made me so happy right in that moment that I couldn’t help but cry while I was singing. Even now I’m deeply grateful towards those three fans.

Just got round to watching "Morning Cop" via YouTube. That's a strange film, like it doesn't quite know what sort of film it wants to be. Kinda reminds me of student films too, particularly the very very obvious ending.

Think I'd describe the plot as "we've just hired a load of girls and we don't quite know what projects to put them in". *lol*

But for this thread... Well, I have to admit, possibly to my shame that Morning Cop was my introduction to Heike!! I'd never heard of her until now, as perhaps I'd been following Morning Musume too closely since my introduction to H!P and it's ironic as Heike is, effectively, the original H!P girl!!

Sad to read this quote though. Seems like she was sidelined even after winning the competition.

No wonder there was that opening scene where she shot them all... Getting a bit meta there maybe???

Dunno what's she's doing now though, maybe something solo, something acting?? I'll look a bit further online sometime. Still nice to discover someone new in H!P though outside MM and a few of the other big acts that I knew of.
