This is really exciting, if you look at their history of major studio albums.
Here's some first weeks' sales figures:
13TH COLORFUL CHARACTER [2012.09.12] (18,760 Total)
6,022 [6] --- < 11,269 [6] --- < 8,610 [8] --- < 5,599 [5] --- < 7,436 [8] --- ??? [10] = 14,416 Week 1 @ #6
14 SHOU ~THE MESSAGE~ [2014.10.29] (20,783 Total)
< 18,047 [5] --- < 6,931 [7] --- < 3,657 [8] --- < 3,156 [4] --- < 3,752 [7] --- < 3,617 [7] = 22,872 Week 1 @ #7
15 Thank you, too [2017.12.06] (37,800 Total)
17,576 [3] --- < 9,059 [4] --- < 5,622 [5] --- < 3,735 [5] --- < 3,277 [6] --- < 4,353 [6] = 29,852 Week 1 @ #4
16th ~That's J-POP~ [2021.03.31] (??? Total)
24,000 [2] --- 3,477 [3] --- 3,635 [2]
So far, the 3-day total has already beat the total sales of the 13th and 14th album. If they can average 2,230 copies per day for the rest of the week, they'll beat the last album's total sales too. Looking back at their sales history, Rainbow 7 [2006.02.15] is the last album to be comparably close, selling 35,672 in its first week and 44,714 total over 5 weeks.

I'm glad they were able to time the album release and the appearance on Nakai's show so well. I hope it gives them a tiny boost, I'd love for them to beat the total for the 15th album.

I've got a friend living in Japan, we'd to a Japanese and both aren't into idols.I'm glad they were able to time the album release and the appearance on Nakai's show so well. I hope it gives them a tiny boost, I'd love for them to beat the total for the 15th album.
They both watched the show, and were both surprised MM wee getting so many praises and baffled by the live performance they put on.
So it might help a little with sale boost.

Updating the comparative sales I posted earlier:
Looks like it has beat out the 15th album's first week and is closing in on its total sales We'll see how the final day and last-minute weekly numbers add up!

IA. The numbers are honestly surprising for their album when the only exposure are the internet signing events and the TV show? It was a smart move to actually have a TV appearance for an album rather a single. Maybe HP finally realized that bundling nice content alongside the album is the key to have better reception/sales?
But the album is also very cohesive this time. It's almost flawless.

They're getting close to that 40k threshold on both charts. I'm happy for them.

Such good sales!!!
Since album sales have grown so much it shows how much the fandom has grown and their single sales are not that inflated by fans buying multiple editions like people say.

Down to #11 today.
#3 sold 801 copies
#97
Posted 07 April 2021 - 03:11 PM
The album is weekly #2 on Oricon with 37,754 copies sold.
Compared to previous albums total sales:
2006 -- 44,714 -- Rainbow 7
2017 -- 37,800 -- 15 Thank you, Too
2021 -- 37,754 -- 16th ~That's J-POP~
2007 -- 31,819 -- Sexy 8 Beat
2014 -- 30,783 -- 14 Sho, the Message
2009 -- 19,143 -- Platinum 9 Disc
2012 -- 18,760 -- 13 Colourful Character
2010 -- 16,133 -- 10 My Me
2011 -- 13,889 -- 12, Smart
2010 -- 13,062 -- Fantasy! Juichi
The first week sales are almost as much as the total sales of "15 Thank you, Too".
So not only will this album sell better than their previous 8 albums, there's a reasonable chance it will sell more than Rainbow 7.
Their 15th album sold 7,948 copies after the first week. If this album sells just as much, their total sales will be 45,702 copies, beating Rainbow 7 from 2006.
That would be quite something, this would be their best selling album in 15 years.

I'm not surprised that it outsold most albums in the Platinum Era (which I considered the worst line-up in MM history). However, I'm quite surprised that it outsold even one album in Yosshi's era. They still have a long way to go to beat Golden Era's albums but we have hopes after this.

I'm really surprised it's outselling the colorful era albulms. Just goes to show their popularity is ever increasing.

So happy with the sales and have to admit: I chocked at your last sentence. The 15 years were heavy!
