decided to start a speculations/predictions thread for 2021 since it's fun guessing how things will go, and i haven't seen a thread for it yet lol

anyway, here's my predictions from last year! correct predictions are green, incorrect predictions are red, and anything in between is yellow:

i was still really new to h!p when i wrote these, so some are kinda off lol. still had fun though!

momusu:

• k&k/lovepedia/nknww sells well
• another single releases towards the end of the year to high sales, generally well received | i'd say it was pretty well received, though idk for sure since the fandom seems to usually be mixed with most momusu releases lol. also idk if the sales were THAT high but they were good
• their sound shifts to a different genre/focus hopefully, they def need a new direction with their music
• big focus and push for 15ki

beyooooonds:

• new single releases, partly set in the meganeverse but also introduces a new universe/storyline
• their popularity rises beyond wotas and bring a lot of attention to h!p again
• highly successful 1st tour!
• world domination

angerme:

• reirei joins angerme after kobushi's disbandment | yeah for about 2 minutes after the disbandment announcement i was firmly in the reirei to anju camp but it took reading like 2 tweets to change my mind lol
• new member from audition, but none from kss | yellow because it was multiple members
• 1 single in the middle of the year?

juice=juice:

• decent year for them, a new single releases to moderate success
• no new members, but maybe some graduations? :/ | new member in the form of reirei, but also karin grad T_T

kobushi factory:

• a farewell single, maybe a best album? but they just released their 2nd album, so it's unlikely

tsubaki factory:

• strong sales, 2 singles total | idk the sales but 2 singles indeed
• rise in popularity, hopefully they're able to find their footing and regain their momentum from before | i mean kind of?? things are def better than last year for them but also the pandemic disrupted general activities and then risamaru loss so

other h!p:

• new kss members?
• a new group is planned, made up of mostly kss but their concept is unknown | i mean we don't know but there IS the kss unit? still in red though since we have no official info beyond speculations of debut for them
• h!p on spotify pleeeease T_T none of my friends r willing to try them since they're not on there | lol

momusu:

• more 15ki push except stronger focus on rio
• part of me feels like there'll either be no graduations, a lot of grads, or one or two grads of older members, specifically 9/10/11ki. could also be a surprise and be someone from 12/13ki but i really hope not lol
• 16th album
• more 15ki photobooks, specifically rio but after her huge sales probably ones for homamei too

beyooooonds:

• ok honestly after the 2020 drought my expectations for beyooooonds are completely in the gutter
• 3rd single halfway through the year or towards the end
• i want a 2nd album to make up for the drought but again not getting my hopes up and just expecting 2 singles lol
• mayyyybe another stage play towards the end of the year? after the sleeping beauty one is done

angerme:

• 9ki push 9ki push 9ki push 9KI PUSH
• a LOT more layla in singles
• also layla pb considering the ton of gravure she did in 2020
• hopefully no new members, we just got 9ki so let them settle in and establish themselves
• pleeeeease no grads, but if there is i'm expecting any members that joined prior to 2018

juice=juice:

• they're the most unpredictable tbh, after losing their ace i wouldn't say they've lost their footing but everything's up in the air for them, so either things will be the same style wise or a complete image overhaul; hoping for the former lol
• ruru front girl push. this is a completely and wholly unbiased opinion
• idk about a reirei push besides the usual new member stuff but it's possible
• kanatomo grad ;_; part of me also feels like sayubee might go but hopefully not
• 2 singles? maybe an album too since they're due for it

tsubaki factory:

• some back girls are pushed to make up for risamaru loss
• 1 single maybe. unless they wanna keep up the minimal 2020 momentum, then they should do 2. but also they didn't really have any momentum so what am i saying lololol
• hopefully 2nd album because like j=j they're due for it
• kisora pb PLEASE

other h!p:

• yeah i have no clue what else they'll think of for concerts re: pandemic but honestly i like what they've done so more of that, and some random shit too lol
• more news about kss unit besides what they've been doing, i've made my kss unit debut agenda well known but like please i actually want them to debut T_T
• speaking of which, debut or not i expect more members to be added to the unit. hoping natsume but maybe also runo, ruli, momo, anyone really. or they could surprise everyone and add yuliya lol

I guess that I will join too...

Morning Musume
- departure of some of the senior five... Erina might be the best bet given her brand and note that staff already brought up the topic to her, but I would love to see PonPon graduate together because it would be epic to see (not sure what Mizuki would focus on after graduation since I'm not aware of anything). We have seen Ayumi give dance lessons to new members, and she looked natural doing so, making it easy to imagine her going that route while perfecting her own skills. Masaki is quite unpredictable, though from what we have been told she should be finishing her second year at university... not sure if that could play with the decision to stay or leave cause as I said she is wild... Sakura has lost her HP buddy in Ayano, but she seems to get along with Erina, and she seems comfortable with her position so I can see her stay for at least one more year.
- Tripple A-side for their 70th single (release June/July), with one song being a hit
- hopefully an album at the end of the year, where Unfair Baby finally gets released (it's rather unfair to the song to be in limbo)
- more focus on 12ki-15ki since these should be preparing to take over the group

ANGERME
- Akari will be reaching 10 years in the group, so she might be thinking of departing... if she does I believe that Ayano will do a great job as new leader
- two singles, one in spring one in autumn, 9ki do well within the group

Juice=Juice
- I expect one graduation, possibly Tomoko's
- two singles / one single and album
- Rei gets a reasonable push, does more percussion
- maybe the girls could add some harmonising to their songs, since it worked well for the duets Rei did with the members in her videos

Tsubaki Factory
- even after Risa's departure they cope well, no new members added
- takes a while to release the next single, annoucement of an album for early 2022

BEYOOOONDS
- their second single is success
- maybe another commercial tie in for the second half of the year
- continues to focus on acting, they won't release singles as often but when they do it keeps the multiple b-sides format

Hello Pro Kenshuusei
- a few more girls join the unit and record the KSS songs for release
- hopefully more girls for Hokkaido since the two on hiatus are less likely to return
- concerts keep release to FC members (or even general sale for test events)

Morning Musume

- Some kind of Olympic tie-in song

-a couple of the more senior members graduate in the fall

-huge push for Rio, more modest push for Mei and maybe Homare

- auditions for 16th gen announced near the end of the year

 

Angerme

-probably a year of finding their feet after all the membership changes

-either two singles or one single and an album

-big Layla push 

 

Juice=Juice

-Tomoko graduates

-More Ruru, but line distribution still stays pretty balanced

- No huge push for Rei, she needs to sort of pay her dues within the group

 

Tsubaki Factory

- more Kisora

- no new members

- much more active than last year

- no additions or graduations

- only 3 continues to not have a name 

 

Kss

- no new permanent group

- departure of some older members (ichigo, ruli, kirara?)

- album with their unreleased songs

Speculations/predictions:

 

H!P as a whole:
I don't think we're gonna see a wave of graduations in 2021. I think the company is going to want some stability for things to return to normal after the pandemic, but I see a lot of graduations happening in 2022.

 

Momosu:
- if the Olympics do happen in 2021 as planned then a PonPon graduation after with Ayumi as leader.

- 12, 13ki get pushed a bit

- a bigger 15ki push, with Rio being pushed on the performance/visual route and Mei being pushed for her personality. I'm not sure if H!P would still do anime tie-ins anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mei gets some sort of TV gig.

 

Angerme:

- they're gonna push 9ki

- it'll be interesting to see how much they push Layla with the 9ki here now

- I don't see Takechan graduating, but someone else like Rikkako or Momona to focus on an outside career

 

Juice=Juice:

- Rei's going to be a new front girl. She's already got front girl status in current concerts, she gets most of Karin's lines, it's going to happen.

- No graduations in 2021, or at least not until very late in the year. Probably Tomoko for a low-key solo career, or maybe Akari to retire from showbiz. I don't think Sayuki is going to go until UF has her doing regular activities as a singing duo with Sakura.

- If graduations happen then they're probably going to add KSS to Juice=Juice. Personally I want this person to be Yofu Runo, but it is probably going to be someone else.

 

Tsubaki Factory:

I see things going two ways for Tsubaki factory this year...

1. Nothing changes, they do as well as they always have except the back girls get to sing more.

2. Someone else gets targeted for a scandal because there really is someone out there trying to destroy the factories, at which point the management gets very serious about catching this person, and doesn't let the girl go for once.

Beyooooonds:
- They release at least one new single and it's a success

- They do more stage plays

- They generally outperform and get more promoted than all the other groups except Momusu

 

KSS:

- A new group is announced for debut finally at the end of the year, and Kirara definitely gets to debut

MM

-The 15th Gen are Definitely getting pushed

-In terms of lineup in graduations i either see 9/10/11 Gens Members graduating maybe at the end of the year or in 2022

-Singles i hope that this year there will be at least 2 Singles will be made and not 1 Single unlike 2019(in which i hate)

 

Angerme

-Two or One Single

-Pushing 9th Gen

-PUSHING LAYLA

-For some reason i think no graduations are happening

-Two Singles Please!

-Rei is definitely getting pushed and who knows she might get more lines

-More Ruru 

 

TF

-Now this year i see no new members joining the group

-Well group is already releasing a new single and its good

H!P Overall

-Well i don't know anything else but i still some predictions/speculations

-Hello Pro might get some new members

-H!P might try something and maybe a new group will be formed

-H!P will probably make the announcement about the new group and the group may not debut until next year

I'm too lazy to check how my predictions from last year went so I'll only put a few predictions for this year

 

- One of the H!P groups does an Olympic song

- A few graduation announcements but no one leaving until at least the end of the year

- 2 singles for each group and a few albums because we are long overdue for some new albums

- Announcement of new group but will not debut until next year

- Big Rio push

- One grad (I don't know who but just for fun I'll say... Ayumi)

- Don't announce another audition until they second half of the year.

 

Beyooooonds

- New single sells roughly the same as the first.

- They get one more single at the end of the year.

- Only3 never get a name. 

 

Misc.

- KSS Unit debut, with the 4 original members, plus Natsume and Yuliya.

- Solo covers album 

 

I follow all the groups, but I can't think of any predictions for the other, so I'll just wish them a good year.

Not gonna lie, with the covid cases rising I have no idea what the new year brings. I guess we might be able to get some more normal performances in summer, once a good amount of people have been vaccinated, but it might take much longer to go back to normal.

However, I'm gonna give it a try.

 

MM

- At least one graduation. I know everything is pointing towards Ikuta, with her business and everything, but everyone 9th to 11th gen is at risk (though I think they need to establish Rio more as a main singer before they can let go of Sakura). I wouldn't even count out Akane in this.

- No new generation, and if anything there will only be an announcement of a new audition. Currently the group is more than full.

- Probably another stage play this year.

- A Miki push! She's the next in seniority after 9th-11th gen will be gone, and I do think they want her to stick around and become one of the main singers at least.

- Besides Miki I believe Kaede, Rio and maybe Mei will be pushed.

 

Anju

- NO GRADUATION PLEASE. Just let everything calm down, okay?

- I agree with the general Layla push sentiment, but I can also see Momona step up.

- 9th gen will be pushed, and I can even see them getting some generation solos and the like, but this first year will be a bit awkward for them.

- Hashi-Rin will finally find her place in the group.

 

Juice=Juice

- I hope there will be no graduation, but it's possible for any of the original members. Tomoko had her solo stuff already, Sayuki could go solo, and Aarii has been active for so long that it wouldn't be surprising for her to simply decide it's been enough.

- They will divide Karin's line equally, but outside of that Riai will get a good push.

 

Tsubaki Factory

- They will probably wait a bit with their next single until things have settled down a bit. I expect them to release the next one in summer.

- The sales of said single will be lower than the previous one, but not by much.

- Continued Mizuho push, while Ami will be more visible (without getting many lines though).

- What I do fear though is that there's bad blood in the group. I don't have a good feeling here. Most members are also over 20. Of the two that aren't, Mao and Saori, I could see Mao graduating to focus on dancing (like Funakki) and Saori calling it quits because she can't connect with the wota anymore after her boyfriend scandals.

 

Beyooooonds

- They need to make up for their lost year. At least two singles please!

- Momohime will step up and become recognized as one of H!P's best singers.

- Another stage play. This group just screams theater. If not... see below under hopes/dreams.

- While they're a great group I can see many members excelling in solo activities, too. May it be Yuhane's and Uutan's acting, Honopi's piano playing or other stuff - these girls are full of talent and interesting characters.

 

Hopes/Dreams

- I'd love to see the girls on TV again. As in, in a drama. Kobushi's ninja movie was cringe, but making a mini drama out of Megane-kun's universe? I'd love that.

 

Misc

- I agree to the general feeling of a new group coming soon. I think they'll pull a Beyooooonds: Put a few Kenshuusei in there and hold an audition to fill the gaps.

[Curlymckay]

Morning Musume '21

- 15ki push (mainly focused on Rio)

- 1 single + 16th album

- rio gets a 2nd photobook

- 2 grads from 9/10/11/12ki members (my guess would be ikuta and either mizuki or sakura)

- if there's 4 or more grads this year, 16th generation auditions will start at the end of the year

 

ANGERME

- 9ki + layla push

- akari announces graduation at the end of the year (and graduates 2022)

- maybe 1 surprise grad from either rikako, moe, or momona?

- no new members

 

Juice=Juice

- kudo yume push

- karin's lines will be given mainly to rei but also moderately to ruru and slightly to riai + yume

- sayuki grad 2nd half of 2021

- no new mem

- 2 singles (or 1 single and an album)

- either no grads or 1 surprise grad

- oota will randomly be at one event during 2021 but that's it

- new unit will be announced officially with members (all KKS, 5-7 members)

1. Eripon's, Maa-chan's, and Daaishi's graduations
2. A major push for 12-15ki
3. Three new singles and another full album
4. Tsunku-written/Tsunku-composed Momusu songs being reserved to future full albums and/or the supporting A-sides of singles (I'm saying this because, well, I've seen a number of people mention elsewhere on H!O about stuff like how a lot of Tsunku's recent songs seem to focus on the older Momusu members, and I agree with them.)
5. KSS trainees Ishiguri Kanami, Matsubara Yulia, Nishizaki Miku, and Yamada Ichigo being added to Momusu as 16ki members

ANGERME:

1. Take-chan's graduation
2. A major push for 9ki
3. Two new singles
4. No new member additions

Juice=Juice:

1. Kanatomo's and Sayubee's graduations
2. A moderate push for Reirei
3. Two new singles and a full album

Miscellaneous speculation about H!P:

1. A new H!P group featuring 3 KSS trainees (Nakayama Natsume, Saito Madoka, and Hirayama Yuki), 1 audition winner, and 2 transfer students

Ideas/ hopes for 2021:

 

Morning Musume:

- One or two 9/10kies graduations (PonPon/ Ayumi). Not Sakura, I give her 1 more year. 

- 15kies still shine a lot (especially Rio - 2nd PB?)

- 2 Singles (+ maybe an album)

I hope their new songs will be better. I'm not a big fan of the last single. 

 

Angerme:

- Akari or Rikako's graduation

- No new members, but new audition announced in 2022

- 9kies and Layla push.

- A PB for Layla (Pleeeease)

I hope no one will leave. 

 

JuiceJuice:

- Maybe Kanatomo or Akari graduating???

- 2 new singles

- Rei, Ruru and Riai take Karin's lines.

 

Tsubaki Factory:

- They will be fine

- A new single later in the year, around june / july.

- Maybe an album at the end of the year or 2022

- Kisora, Yumeno or Mao getting a PB (I need it) 

 

Beyooooonds:

- 2 singles this year 

- A new play at the end of the year.

- More PBs

 

KSS:

- A NEW GROUP PLEASE! (Sub-unit + some other kenshuusei). Announced during summer or at the end of the year, debuting in 2022.

- Just a wish but : NakaYamada debut please. Either together or in different groups but still.

I love these two and Ishiguri, and want them to debut.

- An album

 

Others: 

- Don't know what to expect from Ota. 

- Risamaru starting a solo career, maybe in musicals. ~please don't disappear girl, I love you~

 

All the possible graduations will be at the end of the year, except for MM.

I suppose it wasn't as bad (my speculations)... The greatest miscalculation for me is the situation around Tsubaki, lol.

Morning Musume '22

• I expect more then one graduation here... "Ideally" (this is very debatable based on people's POV), with Ayumi in spring to become a dance-teacher, and a double PonPon graduation at the end of the year (Erina focuses on her brand, while Mizuki joint M-line club), this would mean there would be two singles (one for Ayumi and one for Q-kis - by the way, I would love for PonPon to get a digital single with their own song + two solo covers...)
• Further 12ki-15ki takeover
• Possibly an audition for 16ki (at least 2 new members)

ANGERME

• no new members for this year...? 
• maybe one graduation (Akari or Rikako...?)
• two singles

Juice=Juice

• one single and the overdue 3rd album
• possibly no graduation, but if there is one then my bet is on Akari

Tsubaki Factory

• continues to do well with the new members
• hopefully they get two singles as well

BEYOOOOONDS

• only one single (with sub-units having their songs as well), Furefure is included as additional track
• stage-play and maybe another commercial tie-in

OCHA NORMA

• strong debut - tripple A-side single (unless we are gifted with another song I'm expecting "Koi no Crouching Start / Date Zen'ya Kyousoukyoku / Go Your Way" with (possibly) Mistake and/or Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san no Uta as bonus track(s
• Madoka is named leader, Ruli as sub-leader, Kirara becoms center

Kenshuusei

• Hokkaido branch gets new girls, more girls join the main branch as well
• Sakura will probably leave...
• Releases of concerts continue

So glad I was wrong about my predictions for Tsubaki. So happy with the new gen.

It's interesting how I'm either right or wrong, but not frequently kind of right. Looking forward to a 2022 thread so I can continue manifesting my wishes for a Mei anime tie-in.
