So "Hitori de Ikerare sou"tte takes it by a wide margin! Congratulations to Juice=Juice.  I knew that was going to be a popular song, but I really had predicted Megane to be the winner, so I was a bit surprised. Beyooooonds still had a strong debut year with two songs near the top. Tsubaki takes third in the close battle between places 2-4. It's been a slow year for them release-wise, but hopefully with Kiki back we'll be seeing more in 2020. Angerme also does pretty well with three songs in the top 10 though only Akai Earphone is popular from their album. Kobushi's album seems to be liked with most songs getting support from quite a few people, even if none of them are in the top.  It's Morning Musume's lowest ranking year yet by far, but hopefully this next year will go better for them. Already the next single seems significantly better than the last one.  Big thanks to everyone who voted!

Think the top 10 songs are a pretty good representation of the H!P songs last year.

Would've liked it if Haru Urara was in the top 10 too but you can't have everything.

Otherwise I'm really happy for Akai Earphone, I did really well despite being an album song.

You know, Japanese polling also placed similar results, Hitori de topped the list by huge margin, followed by Beyooonds, and Angerme's Akai earphone become one of the best from album part.

Interesting. Seems that Morning Musume (Seishun night especially) fared much better in their poll than ours. They sometimes comment that we're "fickle" and they are more "loyal" to their favorite group/member, but I think if you're judging objectively just on song quality our placements for Morning Musume are pretty fair. It is clear that "Hitori de Ikerare sou"tte is the top song of the year since both the Western and Japanese fans strongly agree on that, and also that Nippon no DNA and Megane no Otoko are among the best. Also interesting that Fuwari Koi Dokei isn't even in their top 10 (looks like it was #14). That was my personal number 1 pick this year and the poll's number 3, but I guess the Japanese audience didn't like it as much?

@celestia414: I was also surprised that Fuwari didn't even make to the top 10. It's very implausible to say TF isn't famous in H!P, because their sales were quite high in 2019. My hypothesis is that Tsubaki fans follow Tsubaki only, not the whole H!P, and they don't actively participate in polls related to H!P so the number of Tsubaki fans who participate in the polls contribute to very small proportion among H!P fans population. And just like you said, fans do favor their own group, only one exception occurred: Hitori de ikeraresou tte is extremely pleasant to hear that it can top the poll even though MM and BEYOOOONDS are the rampaging groups.

Apart from individual polling, i think fans keep their subjective vote for best song. Although MM members rank high in individual, but in song category, they eclipsed by JJ, Beyooooonds, even Angerme.

I already knew some of the BEYOOOOONDS songs would do decently, and I definitely expected Juice to end up on top, but I'm so happy my favorite Kobushi album songs ranked as well as they did. They did even better than my favorite ANGERME album song. I'm surprised Tsubaki's song took #3. It was among my votes too, I expected it to be in the top 5.
