Thanks for posting the video interview with translation. They definitely did the right thing to get Rio in. That girl has the variety flair. I can see her easily being the next Sayumi. She is definitely the one to watch.

Mizuki just pushed her way into their homes I know it was pre-planned with the parents, but the girls had no idea how to react.

The girls are stunned and in front of their senpai who they don't really know at all,  and they probably don't know what to say, plus there is a camera in their face. It's an inherently awkward situation. Not sure what else Fuku-chan could have done really.

....Anyways, l felt like the way Fukuchan handled it was totally adorable and it seems like she has definitely grown more comfortable when it comes to introducing new members into the group, especially in comparison to when Chiichan joined. I’m proud of her.

The members had the cutest reactions, but the more I watch Rio, the more I grow to like her. I just know that she’ll mess up my rankings in the future.

^So that magazine was accurate with the colors then. I'm guessing Daisy is a lighter yellow than Reina's, "sea blue" is just another name for light blue, and bright green is maybe more of a "true" green (rather than the more neon/yellow green that Eripon has)

^but it will be difficult to separate the colors during a concert. Bright green and yellow green.. put for me kinda the same

I think "bright green" is significantly darker than yellow green. Probably just a translation issue, like how "emerald green" in Japan is actually teal.

Okay now I understand what Mizuki is saying. Rio has a undeniably nice voice but the actual activity -- dancing while singing -- is somewhat affecting how she's delivering the lines. She clearly needs to improve her stamina to keep up with the Musume standard. She is, no doubt, an utahime in the making if she can control her high pitches.

 

Homare follows good rhythm to her dances and she's quite a sharp dancer. Her singing can stabilize in the long run if she's given more lines to sing in the next 1-2 years but I highly doubt that.

 

I'm really happy for this gen, this gives me renewed hope. This is the refresh we need to revitalize the group's dynamics.

I've seen a few people here and there saying they were let down after all the Rio-is-a-singer hype. After watching the footage, I'd just like to throw in my two cents:

 

She was clearly quite nervous. Nervousness causes loss of normal breath control, voice getting shaky, mind blanking out... she exhibited all of that, which is where I think most of the aforementioned people got disappointed. I feel she's in a very good starting place, and it will only be improved with actual voice lessons and better breath control. And based on her blog, she's really is working hard to do her best and improve where she's lacking.

 

I agree with tadase in the overall picture. I'm excited to watch this gen grow.

^ I think her aspiring to take over Sakura's Help me solo along with the she's-a-good-singer-hype led people to believe she's gonna be as high level from the get-go as Sakura was. Well, she isn't. She's "just" a good amateur singer as in she's probably acing singing tests in school ( if there is such a thing in Japan). But she's probably going to get good fast with the right training since she's in a good starting-point, as you put it. And yeah, she was clearly very nervous ...so who knows, she might be even a lot better than what we heard here.

Shout out to Homare...she isn't a tone-deaf squeaky mouse at all. I'm really excited to see how she'll grow.
