I wonder why she likes Brahms so much? Pretty awesome that she played the clarinet part on her.......whatever that thing is called.

Maybe she can get Saya to learn it.

Pianica or Melodica (among other names)

And yeah, Beyooooonds gakkou only runs through May.

I don't know what H!P has planned for June, because it's still not-ok to gather 200 people in a live house, or 2000 in a concert hall.  But the general "stay home"ishness in Japan is fading rapidly.

On the advice of Karin, Honopi has started core training. Since she has had no previous dance experience she feels like she needs to get in better shape. She's working out with her older brother who does kendo and knows about fitness.

Here she is with a little shine on her face. :)

Honoka will play the piano for Matsubara Takeshi's 15th anniversay song "Yukikaze" (雪風). It's a piano ballad love song written, composed, and arranged by KAN. Single releases 9/30.

Happy 20th birthday, Honopi!

She had a live Instagram yesterday, don't think it's still up. Hopefully it'll show up on YouTube.

In this Tiny Tiny interview, Honopi describes her road to be oming an idol. Evidently her mother wasn't for it, her father helped her audition behind her mother's back. She's truly an angel.

I think the interpretation of "had to do it in one take" is wrong......in recording you take as many takes as needed to get it right. I think he meant that she was so good they nailed it in the first take.

Joint Honopi/Utan birthday DVD........of course we get Honopi knocking out a piano piece from the Romantic era (I'd like to see her tackle something from the Impressionist period or even something more modern like Rachmaninoff) and her singing is cute...... [...]

Rachmaninoff was a romantic composer, wasn't he?  Maybe a little late, chronologically, but still.

...

...
...

and from what I've heard, not playable for pianists with human-sized hands.

What I've learned about Japanese so far, is that you must first pay attention to these 2 things: Rule #1 and Context. After that, just pray they remember their high-school English class.

Rachmaninoff's career was pretty much 20th Century (1873-1843). I had a set of 78s of him performing one of his concertos w/ Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Philharmonic........and I accidently broke them! I think it was recorded in 1935.

Edit: wikipedia describes him as "late romantic" while I consider the romantic era to be the time of Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Schumann which occurred in the middle of the 19th Century......to be followed by the impressionism of Ravel, Debussy, Satie at the close of the century. From wiki:

"was a Russian composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor of the late Romantic period. The influence of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Balakirev, Mussorgsky, and other Russian composers is seen in his early works, later giving way to a personal style notable for song-like melodicism, expressiveness and rich orchestral colours.

Genre definitions are squishy.

Just the same, I don't think Kobayashi has the hands for Rach.
