AKB48 is trying to hit the Chinese market again.

Apparently there will be 3 teams: Team SH (Shanghai), Team BJ (Beijing), and Team GZ (Guangzhou).

Currently they are competing on Produce 101 China with their two official members.

I wonder how this will be... I also wonder if they're going to be on the same shows as SNH48. It'll be interesting/awkward.

I'm also curious as to how Heavy Rotation will be split between SNH48, TPE48, and Team SH. Will it be the same song?! We'll find out next soon!

I'm looking forward to this new Chinese group and how they will fare against SNH48, I've started following SNH the last few months and I really like how they are doing despite splitting from AkiP. I'm not sure how well SNH48 do in China?

SNH48 is the most popular girlgroup in China right now, so AKB48 China has a LOT of competition considering they’ll be doing what SNH48 was essentially doing when they were pretty unpopular. The split along with the increased creativity and originality of the stages helped SNH48 gain a bigger fandom and get tons of more attention, so I don’t think AKB48 China is gonna do that well tbh.

Even though splitting from AKS was a smart move by SNH48’s management, I’d say Rocket Girls are definitely more popular.

Rankings are great an all but..... Rocket Girls are far more recognized in China than SNH is right now. Their individual members are superstars participating in cm's, drama's and shows. SNH is definitely popular but not as huge as RG are right now.

Yes but... SNH48 has a whole Li YiTong, Huang TingTing, Feng XinDuo, Lu Ting, Xu JiaQi, Dai Meng, Duan YiXuan (BEJ), Ju Jingyi (Graduated), Xie LeiLei (GNZ), Lin SiYi, Zhang DanSan, Song Xinran,etc. who are widely recognized all over China rn. Li YiTong accumulated over 400,000 votes alone in the election, which adds up to about $2 million US dollars. Also, many SNH members get those same brand deals and participate in drama’s, release solos, perform on shows, etc, ESPECIALLY Li YiTong, Lin SiYi, Ju Jingyi, Song XinRan and Xu JiaQi. Even China recognizes them as the nation’s girlgroup lol.

AKB48 Team SH took part in the AKB48 Group Asia Festival on January 27th.

 

 

First Single "Shonichi/初日" was on sale January 14th. Songs included are Shonichi, LOVE TRIP, and Heavy Rotation.

 

Second single revealed to be NO WAY MAN. Other tracks TBA.
