[onesnowyday]

monogatari (former Harajuku Monogatari 原宿物語), is an idol group that consists of 12 members under the label Millennium Promotion. The group started back in 2014 under the name Millennium Girls where they released a single titled "Kiss My Girls". In 2016, the group was renamed to Harajuku Monogatari with the addition of some new members. They released three songs, two of which were released by their subunits Cloth and Pray Us. On January 1, 2018, the group changed their name from Harauku Monogatari to monogatari. They then released their first single as monogatari titled, "Re:born" on March 27, 2018.

I received their new single today. This is my small collection:

 

Their last three releases are all on iTunes.

 

They are easily my favorite group of the past five years. The lineup is legendary-wait for it-dary.

They actually started back in 2014 but were known as Millennium Girls and they did quite a few Junior Gravure videos. This is the front cover of [MGDVD-002] and the series numbers ran into the 20's.



Then in 2015 they sort of got quiet for a while and their website turned into a contact link landing page...

Most of what they were producing was really concentrated on the gravure angle and that's probably why they stopped, so they could retool their image. Then they came back as Harajuku Monogatari without any of the gravure but they continued to be produced by Millennium Promotion. A lot of the original girls have moved on but several are now part of monogatari and their music skills have improved considerably.

Some of the members still released gravure videos till the end of 2016 (which were really good actually) so the change wasn't that long ago. From the performances I saw they got a few talented girls but also some "filler" girls if I might say so. The quality isn't that high for some of them. They all work really hard though and especially Karen as center is a great choice. The song Monogatari is one of their best in my opinion.

I saw this group being mentioned on twitter recently (something regarding their name change) and thought they were all cute! I thought they were a recent group but it seems like some members have been going at it for a while lol, but they seem cute so i'll keep an eye out for them

Amu just tweeted that she is graduating on November 6. 

 

What a huge blow. One of the best performers ever. Beauty, talent, and beauty. For an ace to only give three weeks notice... sigh.

 

It still annoys me that their management squandered their push in 2017. That they are still an underground group is tragic. 

 

I still watch this video from 2017 all the time. I love how she did this dance and her dance solo at 21:10.

Monogatari just finished their final performance as they have now disbanded. It was streamed on showroom and it was bittersweet.

 

I could rant until the end of time about how this group was mismanaged. When they were known as Harajuku Monogatari, they were one of the hottest and most unique groups ever.

yeah.... after Amu graduated i feel that Monoga kinda stopped their activities....

 

i wonder where my fave Usa will go from here, she's too precious to not continued being an idol
