Been watching all the PR videos for this and I'm really excited about a lot of the competitors, both Korean and Japanese! I don't usually get into these idol survival shows but I'm definitely drawn in by this. Can't wait to watch the show!

It seems like the rules have been changed just a few days before the show's pilot episode.

Now only Koreans can vote for it, since the show's staff decided AKB is too popular in Japan.
Also there is no longer an even amount of Korean and Japanese members for the final group and it might as well end up 90% Korean trainees and 10% Japanese members.

Which means that only the really popular 48g members will probably make then final group at all.

Its entirely possible, but I think Sakura will for sure make it

No rule was changed, those things about Japanese being able to vote and having an equal quota of Korean and Japanese members were just rumors, they were never confirmed in first place.

Some of the performances from the 48G were...not good. welp.

 

Lee Kaeun looked really good and was the star of Ep. 1.  I'm glad she got an A rating.

 

Typical Mnet with the cliffhanger for Sakura and Jurina though.

I am so glad, though, that as early on as the first episode the reason behind the performance skill discrepancies was explained to the judges and fans. (translated video clip about this from Episode 1 under spoiler). Honestly, I think they're trying to make the "Idol Training Culture Shock Brings Underdogs to Train Their Asses Off and Cry a Lot" theme the next "This Girl Trained Blood, Sweat, and Tears for EIGHT YEARS! Will She Get Her Big Break?!?" theme that was prevalent in Season 1. Sob stories sell.

The comment that Kahi said, "Instead of saying that their skills itself are an 'F,' they never received the trained that Korean idols received," really made me happy to be recognized. That's how some of these girls can be in the business for 7+ years and still be at a beginner's performance level skill-wise. Just imagine how much singing/dancing talent the 48G would be a springboard for if the girls actually got that type of training for as long as they were in the group. However, the fans aren't really looking for that, and that's fine! That's why J-pop and K-pop idols generally differ so much in presentation.
