Announced at today's MAMA in Japan. The show will be produced by Akimoto Yasushi and will have a similar concept with Produce 101, but with both Japanese and Korean participants. More information to come.

Produce 101 (Hangul: 프로듀스 101) is a 2016 reality girl group survival show on Mnet. It is a large-scale project in which the public "produces" a unit girl group by choosing members from a pool of 101 trainees from 46 entertainment companies as well as the group's concept, debut song, and group name. The show has the second-largest budget of all shows produced by Mnet at about four billion won (approximately $3.4 million).

^Me too!  But they had a mini-reunion at MAMA, so I'm partly content.

 

It's still unknown how this is going to work, but with Aki-P running it I don't think it will be exactly like PD101.

I dont think this has anything to do with I.O.I.'s comeback or w/e. This is a different project with AkiP in charge for the recruitment.

I hope to see more of Aki-P .. its like he got lazy and disappear from the public for so long ..
I really hope to see him in action and being involve in it all ..

If you really like 48G, you would say "I hope AkiP could stop getting involved in so many extraneous things that has nothing to do with 48G or the progress of certain groups, and even teams. I wish he could - for instance - focus on getting us new team stages, as that's important to stop the stagnation of AKB48".

He keeps doing everything he can to avoid doing what he should be doing. Anybody who is a fan of AKB48 would know this. It's really frustrating to see him jump all over the place and almost exert utmost effort to avoid fixing things. The girls are frustrated about it, the fans are frustrated about it. And every time, Akimoto jumps out with some new bullshit project or thing of his that he announces to get attention, but every time it's not what is needed to be done. It's something else.

I've seen speculation that Produce48 may be co-ed, but that is extremely unlikely given Aki-P's pedigree and the 48G concept.  But that might be what South Korea wants, so who knows?

It seems like an exciting idea, but AkiP really seems to be spreading himself thin with too many groups and projects. Why can't he focus on what he has and make it even more amazing!

I think the image is a stock photo, you can see that SNH48 is listed on there and they are no longer a 48G group.  The announcement doesn't mention the 46 groups so I doubt they will be considered.

 

I've seen rumors that Miyazaki Miho from AKB may be transferred to the group as she can speak a little Korean.
