If she joins MM she probably going to be Maria's rival.

People say they are similar but I dont really see it that much.

These days I think she looks closer to a fair cross between a young Sugaya Risako and Nonaka Miki. Considering how much they tried to push Risako as a visual member for Berryz right out of the gate, it wouldn't surprise me if they attempt the same with Nakayama after she debuts for a group. That was basically the route they went with Maria as well. As far as rivalries go, I imagine it would only be about as energized as the rivalry that OdaSaku claimed when she said she wanted to out-gravure Fukuhime. If she makes it into Morning Musume, that type of rivalry would probably just amount to Nakayama and Maria becoming closer and getting paired for magazine shoots together more often.
