I'm so happy for Mei right now, she went above and beyond during her exam and gave what I thought was the 2nd best performance in the event. She was one of only 3 KSS I gave a debut ready rating of 100% along with Riai and Yume, so I'm very pleased that she wasn't made to wait any longer. For posterity, here's the review I gave of her performance:

 

Yamazaki Mei - Mugen Climax - 9.5/10
Debut this girl now. She may not be my favorite KSS, she may not even be my favorite HKSS, but I dont think I've heard or seen such a perfect "H!P" idol in the program for several years. Obviously, there are still some areas where she could improve. That's been universally true for even the most polished performers in the past like Horie or Dambara. However, if there were ever a scale on how H!P a person can be, she chucked it out the window because it didn't live up to her standards. She's come a long way from 2017, and while she still occasionally has issues with her lines not being as audible as they should be, everything else about her performance was well beyond the expectations I had, even based on the high score that I gave her last year.

Congrats, Mei! I thought she had a strong chance of being selected for MM.

She's really quite good at English for only being 13 years old. Here is her introduction in English during Manakan's Bus Tour last year:

I think it's interesting that the other KSS (Yume Kudo-chan) that was invited as a guest to Manakan's Bus Tour last year recently debuted too, but in Juice=Juice.
