The series revolves around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman in her 30s living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum-security women's federal prison (operated by the "Federal Department of Corrections", a fictional version of the Federal Bureau of Prisons) in upstate New York. Piper had been convicted of transporting a suitcase full of drug money for her girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), an international drug smuggler. The offense had occurred 10 years prior to the start of the series and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York's upper middle class, so her sudden and unexpected indictment seriously disrupts her relationships with her fiancé, family and friends.
Orange Is the New Black has received critical acclaim, particularly praised for humanizing prisoners and for its depiction of race, sexuality, gender and body types.
It's currently 4 seasons (finished it yesterday), but has been renewed for a fifth, sixth and seventh seasons. Which I'm super happy about.
Now I started this having little faith it was that good but I was so wrong. The trama is engaging and the characters are easy to love and hate and in betweens, and damn everyone's acting is so so good. I especially like Samira, Taylor and Danielle.
My #1 is Poussey (I feel she's everyone's fave but I didn't know this lol), but I also really like Piper and Watson as 2nds, and then following Taystee, Gloria and somehow Gina (we know so little about her but there's something that makes me like her lol).
I can't stand Leanne and Angie is her pal's name right, I never think they are funny tbh. Daya is also pretty meh, and her whole plot was just...idk.
Now to SPOILERS
I already knew what was coming because a friend fing spoiled it for me (she didn't say it but her rare name + a crying emoji in a whatsapp group makes it pretty obvious), but it didn't make the ending to S4 less sadder, and I had hopes I was overreacting. I can't imagine OITNB without her. Though she became a lot more tame with Soso, a relationship I so wanted to happen in S3. Then she got love, work, I knew it was coming. Makes me a bit bitter towards Suzanne the most.
Taystee's outburts, when she says "they didn't even say her name" damnnn that was such a great, heartbreaking scene. Very powerful, I also liked the stand on the table scene, that union at last. Then I really like Watson if she is bitter faced most of the time, but was so happy she got to punch that girl, the way in which she said "what did you say" + punch was so effective.
Piper, I didn't know she was that hated lol. I really like her character, still, and I thought S1 and 2 Piper was really fun to watch. Dogget really deserved that. S4 Pipes was a bit of a mess, trying to act tough and all. Still the branding scene, made me nervous.
Lolly's situation was heartbreaking, maybe because I knew Poussey's thing was coming, that I cried more when she starts screaming inside Psych for Mr. Healy.
Anyway, things went from Mendez to something bigger in a proper pace, it's such a good series. It touches sooo much topics, many that are so important. And women of all types and sizes is refreshing, not all pretty, not all good.

I would write more but maybe it'll end in an empty topic so I'll leave it there lol.
