^^ Will people even donate money? How much money do we need? If we're going to do this then we need people to be serious about the money and PM Haku.

Count me in.

Don't PM haku. He has nothing to do with this.

Better to be a little patient and wait.

Don't mix up theft/stealing with copyright infringement, two very different legal concepts

Actually they are not. Just because there is no tangible product for you to keep does not mean there is nothing of value being taken or lost.

Example, if you downloaded the Momoiro Tsurube series here for free instead of waiting for the video to be released, that is $263 out of Momoclo's pocket.

Another real-world example would be driving in an HOV lane with only one person in the car. You got to use the product, you don't keep the product, there is no tangible depreciation of the product and likely nobody will ever know you used it. But, you stole a service/product people paid to make that they expected to get paid in return for its use.

Agree with me or not, it is theft to download things not specifically put out by the author/distributor for download as free without paying for it.

But, again, I do not dispute it is "wrong" to do so, since it is, but we all here do it anyway, myself included.

If I had the money and ability to pay for everything I absolutely would. And I do buy everything I can.

The copyright legal system is screwed up, but like the recent public domaining' of "Happy Birthday" in the USA, it very slowly is getting better.

OM617,

First off, you are quite mistaken, and this issue is not black and white like you are making it. In fact, the version you're presenting, is right out of RIAA and MPAA's book. In other words, you're perpetuating a myth. If I download a movie costing say 40 dollars, that does not mean that the company lost 40 dollars, because it may very well be a movie that I would never buy in the first place. However, having seen the movie, I may actually end up buying it since its quality, if it was good, served as an incentive for me to purchase it. Yes, I downloaded a movie illegally, no it is not stealing.

As crono_logical said, theft/stealing is not the same as copyright infringement. The two are very different. There are numerous studies on this issues spanning many years, and there's a lot of discussion on this subject as well. To merely dish out RIAA/MPAA-like comments doesn't help.

But having said that, this has nothing to do with the topic right now, and I'd really appreciate it if people who do not have anything to contribute to the actual topic at hand, can refrain from posting in this thread. No need to type just because you can type. It floods over the thread with useless posts not relevant to the actual topic.

I'll start deleting posts if it keeps up like this. Or just close the thread.

Just close it with a closing statement that for >>NOW<< JPS/NYAA are the alternatives until the new tracker is done. And its done when its done. The thread did what was needed and most posts are completely besides the point now.

Yes, I agree.

Most people who have read this thread, knows that the alternatives we have right now are Jpopsuki (currently invite only), and Nyaa. And right now we're working on alternatives, when those alternatives are done, they'll be announced. So be patient.

Most things that can be said have already been said, after that it's mostly been off-topic.

So, with that said, this thread is closed. :)
