Kuromiya Rei has been diagnosed by a doctor for having acute laryngitis and vocal nodules. Multiple lives of BRATS & LADYBABY have been cancelled and she will take a rest period. Only the benefits event on October 9 at Tower Records Nagoya will take place and fans have been notified that she will not be able to speak.

 

In her message on the BRATS homepage she says her throat has been bothering her for some time now so let's hope this is just a small hurdle and nothing too serious and wish the best for her.

Just saw a tweet from Natalie about this news.
Feeling a bit sad for Rei. Not sure what her reasons for retiring from Lady Baby. Maybe she wants to focus only on Brats.

She wrote in her statement she does not want to risk anymore damage to her vocal chords and in particular that there is a difference in direction. Also that she feels her personality is not suited to be an idol. She never really liked the whole façade that goes with being an idol from the jump honestly. Always talked about how she hates having to be fake for people in order to present a certain persona. I believe now she's older & gaining more maturity and intelligence about the real world to fully take charge of her own decisions.

 

I think she's likely to continue with BRATS as it is different musically than LADYBABY and she is also with her sister in the band. She's stated before that she really likes the music they do in BRATS and that she gets to take part in some of the actual creation of the music like writing lyrics and such. I think she's just done with all of the politics and rules of the idol business.

As for Rie, she thought about if she should also quit but she wants to continue with LADYBABY especially after building such a long relationship with the fans and with all of her hard work and love she put into it. I believe she has everything it takes plus a dedicated fanbase to go solo if she wants to.

^Thank you for the summary from Rei's comment. From a certain point of view it eases my mind that her decision to withdraw was related to her health.

I believe Rei is already mature and intelligent enough as she was a junior idol before becoming a pop idol.
